Sadly 7 weeks will be tops it will manage and 2 in the top 40. I hope although doubtful it will manage a 2nd week top 30.
The record company need to make sure they get the next single release right, preferably something that will appeal to the general public more like "All the lovers" managed to achieve. A successful third single could help rescue the album and produce healthy album sales in the run up to Christmas. However, a poor third single will only help to lose the momentum for the album.

7000 physical sales in one week is quite extraordinary these days.

#12 is a good peak but if it only spends one week in the top 30 then that's pretty much a certified flop. I wonder if Kylie being of a certain age now means that she'll only ever get big hits with the lead single from an album, a la Madonna in America.

I don't think so, not just yet anyway. It is just gonna be harder for her, she needs to be very careful with her single choices.

I think less Poppy/gay Kyliefor the next single and maybe Cupid Boy next, showing another side to the album. Or Aphrodite. I know they are still poppy and gay

but they are less then GOMW

The third single will be crucial in some ways determining the overall success of the album in the christmas market. Its hard to know what the right choice is, id love it to be better than today but im not sure its a song everyone would go for.
Please not BTT! I think it's raather too camp especially after GOOMW.
I think 'Aphrodite' is the only real standout choice for third single. The bad thing is, it's an album mostly of very good songs but songs which aren't smash hit singles or Kylie classics, whereas X had an obvious 4 at least (even if 'Like A Drug' didn't end up getting released...)
She should've released 'Speakerphone' from X. Now I agree with you, Aphrodite needs to be the third single.
I would have hated speakerphone to have being a single, and i wouldnt be to happy with aphrodite been a single either, i do like aphrodite but for me it is not single material

'Speakerphone' would have made a disastrous single.

I agree with Jark really, she's definitely going to be those 'lead singles smashes only' type artists from now on :( The diehards will get the album, so there will be no need to download further singles and really, with no new b-sides and physical sales on the slide anyway and harder to find, where's the incentive to buy CD singles anymore. She's not the type of artist that will appeal to mass downloaders unless she does something really crossover, like a collaboration with whoever the 'man of the moment' is at the time, a la Madge and 4 Minutes.

So I'm not overly bothered about what she picks as the 3rd single as it will probably be a #24 smash. The song that would most help the album to sell is Aphrodite in my eyes as it's not 'typical Kylie' yet not unrecognisable either, but does enough to open her up to a slightly different audience. Better Than Today would be my 4th choice though. It's simply the law of diminishing returns in play by the time you've gone past the first couple of singles though, with 95% of artists, so I don't think she can ever expect to have a string of 3 or 4 top ten hits from the same album again, no matter how strong the material is.

I think Aphrodite is packed with singles, unlike X. I think the following are all singles material, "put your hands up", "closer", "aphrodite", "cupid boy" and "better than today".

I just think that Parlophone has made a mess of this single regarding promotion.

She performed Get outta my way numerous times in July and just disappeared altogether from August with no follow-up until Parlophone realises the song isn't picking up on the radio and feels like "$h!t, WE NEED TO SOMETHING". To me, it looks like the Paul O'Grady performance was last-minute scheduled.

There is also a big gap between ATL and GOMW and the end of September is a very wrong timing, they should've put the single in a quite week and hopes that it will sneak into Top 5.

Stupid Parlophone once again.

I agree. Its an awful track. Very bland.

Speakerphone is one of the fan favourites from X on other forums I've seen it being discussed but no, it's not single material...

I think the 3rd single should be Everything Is Beautiful. It's got the radio 2 listener appeal whilst still being reasonably youthful. Lovely chillout vibe.

I'm coming round to that idea too. Been thinking it fills the same kind of slot as some of the Pixie Lott ballad-style songs that have proved so popular recently.
