how much involvement do you think an artist should have in a song to include them in the chart history??

eg the biggest hit of 2009 was blacked eyed peas - i gotta feeling but david guetta doesn't get included in the chart history even tho he produced it.more recent examples includes kelis - acapella which was produced by the same dj or jodie connor on the current uk no1 roll deep - good time??

what does everyone think?

they have to have a significant part- ie, you wouldnt really noticed if Guetta featured, because he doesnt sing

I think producers shoudnt be given a 'feat' on the track unless its their own, they would get credited though

david guetta/timbaland/pharrell would have immense chart histories if all their songs listed!!ITS THEIR INPUT WHICH MAKES THE SONG GREAT IMO

I don't think producers should get credited as a featured artist. I didn't even know that David Guetta produced "I Gotta Feeling". However, Jodie Connor should get credited on "Good Times" as she sings on it

Biggest hit where? Because in the UK, I think you'll find "Poker Face" was the biggest hit of 2009 :P

If producers were credited, it would be ridiculous. Every song is produced by somebody - it's their job. There's no reason why they should be credited. They're no more important than the writers, who are also not credited.

The only time I ever see a producer credited is if they're fairly well-known and/or needed to break an act.

Personally, I think this whole 'featured artist' business is now a farce - used only to get their name in the record books.

i think i gotta feeling is ahead in sales now tho!!

anyway, for songs were someone sings for sure they should be featured!!your right about the producers tho!!

The biggest hit worldwide, which is damn more important than biggest UK hit. Anyway, 'IGF' is gonna hit 1,000,000 this week or next, and 'PF' is about 40,000 or so behind.

Oh, and producers shouldn't be credited. That's a pathetic idea.

Producers shouldn't be credited I agree.

However I think a featured credit should count to an artist's chart history even if it's only a minor contribution - if they're credited, it counts.

i suppose restricting the arguement to 2009 pokerface was ahead but overall in the history of the 2 songs IGF has sold more! :D

Exactly right. I mean, where would we draw the line? Would we have to start listing every person who had a hand in mixing the track, people who were in the studio at the time bringing in cups of tea and cleaning?

I may have been a bit extreme there, but still.

Anyway, I'm sure David Guetta is far from complaining about 'I Gotta Feeling'. He's probably set for life on that alone anyway.
