June 9, 201015 yr Author Nice artwork. Nice song, but yeah - it's a flop. The album is pretty good, too - I love "Paris", "Don't You Want To Share the Guilt", "Do-Wah-Doo", "Early Christmas Present" (!!!), "Later On" and "Pickpocket". The video is boring. She looks like she's having fun though. And a little drunk (might explain why she agreed to dress in that blue outfit).
June 9, 201015 yr I think this has a better appeal than Do Wah Doo which was kinda repeditive and was short so if this was the first single it would ahve done better imo, but this will flop, unfortunately because i  it
June 9, 201015 yr Author This type of music is not what is popular at the minute, so whatever Kate released it wouldn't make a difference. It doesn't help when her album doesn't really have that mainstream appeal, either. The sales maybe disappointing, but she shouldn't be upset. It's not entirely her fault. That's just how the industry is. I think I said this already, but I doubt she cares anyway. She's always said she wasn't looking to be a mainstream artist and the popularity & success of "Foundations" was accidental and surprising. She just strikes me as being an artist that cares more about making an honest record and touring/playing festivals - anything else is an added bonus. Obviously from a labels perspective, her low sales raises a few issues. But whatever happens, she'll still make & release a third album. I think an indie label would be best for her after this.
June 10, 201015 yr I think she needs to do a few collabs. kanye West Feat. Kate Nash  Can You imagine?
June 10, 201015 yr Author I thought the same thing. But with artists like Ms Nash, they don't really care about collaborating with successful, popular artists. And singer/songwriters tend to not really want anyone else on board with their own work. Especially writing (which I think Kate should think about, because it could benefit & inspire her perhaps. Not that her lyrics are awful, they're just simple). Dance/pop/hip hop music is really popular at the minute. Kate's album is more 60s girl group meets indie/folk. It never stood a chance. Not this year, anyway.
June 10, 201015 yr Author she said in an interview once that she doesn't want to collaborate with anyone :( I remember that. I remember this boy asking why she doesn't write deep lyrics like her main influence Regina Spektor, and Kate said it was because she can't write them. She tried and they turned out awful. So she sticks to writing really simple ones because she believes that's what she's best at. Kate has a lot to learn. I watched a performance last night and she was screaming throughout. Now she's a good performer and her stage presence is good, but I do not want to listen to her scream like a banshee throughout songs. That's just really off-putting, lol.
June 10, 201015 yr Author Either collaborate or make music that's current (like Kelly Rowland and Kelis) if you want mainstream success. I'm telling you, I can hear the label execs getting ready to drop Kate Nash as I type.

I'm telling you, I can hear the label execs getting ready to drop Kate Nash as I type. I'm not sure her label need to take career advice from either of them, I mean Kelis' album has completely bombed. And Kelly Rowland's isn't even out until October.
June 10, 201015 yr Author I didn't say they should? But record labels are there to make a profit, and nowadays if you release one flop album chances are your ass is getting dropped. Especially when you're someone like Kate Nash. The numbers speak for themself, sadly.
June 30, 201015 yr Not even in the top 1,000. 'Doo Wah Do' and 'Foundations' are both 800something, that's all.
July 1, 201015 yr Author Not in the top 1000? Wow. Has she done any promotion for this? What is the radio/video play looking like? Did they even pick it up?!
July 14, 201015 yr I met her outside GMTV today ;) :o both diana vickers and kate nash in one day. lucky. :(
