Righty-ho, after promising roughly 14 times now that I would be starting the results, I've finally decided to keep to my word!

So of the 14 songs included in the rate, this is the one that won the wooden spoon....

14. Identify [average: 3.81]

I was kind of surprised this did so badly in this rate. Admittedly one of the lesser known tracks on offer here, I'd often heard people rave about this and claim it should have been a massive worldwide hit. I have now realised these people to be loons. "Identify" is a nice enough track, nice enough, but not exactly the most exciting or earth-shattering recording ever in human history. Actually even by her Radio 2 standards, it's pretty nondescript.

Nice song, i like it.

Its about time you did this, i have been waiting and waiting

By my calculations, seeing as there are 14 songs in the rate, Shoat will complete it by around September 2011 give or take a few weeks. 3.81 seems a tad low for a relatively decent song though :(

Oh trust me, this is SPEEDY by Shoat standards.

Let's not get too ambitious...

3.81 is low, but Identify did suffer from a few ???s. As did the next one...

13. Wild About It (4.14)

The "buzz" single to usher in the Come To Life era. You wouldn't know though really, given nearly every Natalie single since 2005 may aswell have been a buzz single.

This was an intriguing one. It's not the snappiest or most obvious choice for a single. Having tried to experiment a little more and deviate slightly from the Radio 2 MOR sound, the video was made to match. Nat prances around a mansion house in a ballerina outfit, singing karaoke and having a "wild" (geddit!) time. We even get a singing pizza box. All cleverly designed to demonstrate Nat's newfound sense of quirkiness and alas, desperatism. After boring millions bar myself and a few housewives for over a decade, it's a little too late for Natalie Imbruglia to suddenly bring out the balloons and bright colours and market herself as a "fun" artist.

But yet this does have a kind of dream-like charm about it all, and by the end I find myself wishing I was also there faking personality alongside her.

I don't think the video for Wild About It is particularly fake or desperate. She's always had a fun element to her personality, we just haven't seen it in the music so much because she's only ever really released sad/love songs.

The song is a healthy 7/10 at least! Bad Buzzjack.

Not quite true. Glorious at least would have been a good opportunity for her to bring on the quirk, that was quite upbeat and lively, although more in keeping with the MOR sound.

7/10 is fair I'd say.

I wasnt a huge fan of Wild About It though I suppose it was fine as a buzz single. I think I prefer down-trodden, heartbroken Natalie to fun upbeat Natalie to be honest since I never partically listen to Glorious or Wild About It that much.

I MAINTAIN that Glorious was wonderful. Third or fourth best thing she's done. I don't care that it didn't push any boundaries or take Natalie out of her comfort zone. It was just SO UPLIFTING. Love the lyrics too, especially the 'drinking wine back at my house / remember someone said your name / I somehow lost the conversation / I'd fallen a million miles away' verse. I just think that's a really really lovely little lyric.

Oooh, I missed this :(

I hope 'Smoke' does weel, so underrated imo!! Along with 'That Day'.

I think it could be a win for 'Shiver' - also an amazing song. Hopefully 'Want' can go Top 5 too

12. Scars (4.81)

This was supposed to have been a single not a few months ago, in an attempt to resurrect the DOA Come To Life era. It never actually materialised in the end, which is probably for the best. This is a sweet acoustic song, but clearly not the stonker that Nat needs to put her back on the charts map. Destined to be B-listed by Radio 2 and rise to the giddy heights of #353 on the I-tunes chart.

As Jark brought up at the beginning of this thread, quite what Natalie was thinking with this track is anybody's guess, because the original mix they binned was FAR more interesting.

Well i like Scars but the older leak is miles better and would have been a killer beginner to the album
