After being told what was said to Zidane I am amazed that Zidane didn't do an even bigger assault on him, Materazzi should be kicked out of the game

"I Hope Jean suffered" was what Materazzi said

You see Zidane looking at the sky many times during the WC particularly after he scores goals.

To put it in context:

Jean Varraud is Zidane's first trainer and Zidane considers him as his second father. Jean Varraud would have been happy with Zinedine Zidane's performance on Tuesday night. Zidane became the latest player in this World Cup to confound the critics, with a subtle performance against Spain, capped by a quality goal at the end to seal France's berth in the quarter-finals. The performance came two days after the death of Varraud, a talent scout for Cannes. In 1987 he spotted Zidane, then 15, playing for a Marseilles club. He telephoned Cannes coach Jean Fernandez and said, "Jean, I've just found you a genius."

That's worse than I though.

In that case Zidane was right to do it, how did the person that told you know this ?

He is a French friend who has a contact at L'Equipe the French newspaper, I think its L'Equipe but we keep in touch sometimes and he emailed me it

Yeah I can see why he did it now.

I still think it would have been better though for him if he hadn't, had won the World Cup for France and then after the final launched an attack on Materazzi.

That way he would be well up on Materazzi, having a World Cup and would have let the whole world know everything.

If and at the moment its an unconfirmed if given Zidane has made no announcement it turns out to be the case then I hope Materazzi is chucked out of the game, to get one of the greatest footballers of all time sent off in his last game by making sick comments about the death of his closest friend just days previously when Zidane was still emotional over his death makes Materazzi below a cockroach in the scale of disgustingness

To not allow a legend of the game a dignified retirement is truly sick

Ok Zidane should not have reacted but I can understand why he did, I have lost someone close to me to cancer and know the emotions involved so can understand why Zidane reacted

Apparently a little bit earlier Buffon put his hand around Zidane because he was visibly upset so clearly he snapped

:o Bloody idiot! Zidane's reaction is totally understandable now!

That's just really fukked up... Materazzi is a good player, but to say that, if true, is really just utterly unforgivable and I hope he receives a lengthy ban for his sick comments. I dont really blame Zidane for losing his head, especially seeing as how Verraud meant so much to him.....

It's probably even worse than when Cantona lost it on that "fan" who insulted his mother....

wtf? :puke2: If it's true then I understand why Zidane headbutted him as I would have done worse if I was him probably. -_-

It doesn't excuse Zidane though and until it's actually proved nothing will be done...

It still merited a sending off though, dont get me wrong (but it's certainly more understandable than thug-boy Rooney's childish temper tantrums...). If I'd been Zidane, I'd've waited til long after the match and then really fukked the guy up.....

God...that's sickening. I hope Materazzi breaks something soon, because that is a sickening thing to say to someone. He totally deserved it then. Good on Zidane.

Can I just say that I'm a big Zidane supporter  Of course, I wanted a good last match for him, and that penalty was a fantastic gift. :cheer:

After all, he did a non-fair-play gest, but agaist a team that missed the fair-play lessons :puke2: So, I guess Materazzi was really an idiot, and France paid the price :arrr: xox.

I was watching the news last night and they had a lip-reader on and apparently they thought he said "I hope you and all your family have an ugly death." Either way it's still extremely personal and them lines shouldn't really be crosssed on the football pitch but, with all due repspect, Zidane had 11 minutes left of his career and could've easily waited until after the match until he got his payback.
According to several newspapers today what Materazzi actually said was "son of a terrorist whore", now, Zidane is of Algerian/French descent and was brought up in the rough French/Algerian ghettoes of Marseilles. That is an incredible insult to make, a really ugly, offensive and utterly racist remark which, if FIFA is really serious about stamping racism out of the game, should net Materazzi a life ban if you ask me. Believe me, Materazzi got off lucky, if I'd been Zidane, I'd've torn his fukkin' head off and played football with it..... <_<

His mum also had a serious heart attack on the morning of the final and is still fighting for her life in hospital
To be honest I wouldn't believe anything. There must be atleast 30 different rumours flying round to what he said and I don't believe any of them. Only two people know what he said; Marco Materazzi and Zinedine Zidane and until either of them say anything I'm believing nothing.
