Ah yes, MSP have a track record of releasing on unfortunate dates and entering at number 2. Empty Souls was beaten to no.1 by Elvis in 2005 and Your Love Alone is Not Enough was beaten by Shakira and Beyonce in 2007

I think you're a bit off there - Empty Souls is one of the lowest selling number 2s (11,500??) so releasing it any other week would have meant it may not have even reached number 2. They were lucky to make number 2 with Empty Souls at all.

It's not as if they were cheated out of a number 1.

I've always claimed that had they lead with Empty Souls instead of The Love of Richard Nixon they might have got their number 1. I could be wrong though.

In answer to the debate about whether they'll be any singles from the album ... yes there will be.

'It's Not War, Just The End Of Love' (which was the album's working title) is the first single, set for release 13th Sept.

Wasn't 'Journey For Plague Lovers' an album made up entirely of Richie's lyrics? I seem to remember them not releasing any singles because it was more of a personal album

It's rubbish.

Manics by numbers with all the tings that make them great sucked out. Bland, dumb, cliched and without any spark or edge.

Easily their worst lead single since Loves Sweet Exile and nowhere near as good as that.

I was going to make an mp3 of it but right now I don't think I ever want to hear it again.

I'm sick of James' vocals trying too hard.

It's the same lazyness that effected Oasis for the last 13 years.

However, at first I was underwhelmed by If You Tolerate This, So Why So Sad, Richard Nixon and Your Love Alone and all improved with time.

This gets worse with each play.

Comparisons to - You're Love Alone, That's No Way to Tell a Lie (James Dean Bradfield), Bad Day (Daniel Poweter), Tonite, Tonite (Smashing Pumpkins), Stomp (Steps), various Rush songs.

I have exactly the same feeling So Why So Sad. Now I think it's one of their best singles.

The whole Know Your Enemy album is very underrated.

Know Your Enemy is great in places and far better than the embarrassing Send Away the Tigers.

all great

I thought how could they possibly make a song that sounds like 'Stomp' by Steps when I read these comments, but I listened and they've copied the melody exactly... my god.

I like it more than This Is My Truth. The opening quartet (Found That Soul, So Why So Sad, Intravenous Agnostic, Ocean Spray) is brilliant.

The lo-fi disco of Miss Europa always delights me

The final synth part of Miss Europa is great - could have done without the "Braindead Mutherf***er" lyrics.
