The singer, who is gearing up for the release of her new album Aphrodite this summer, admitted that she has enjoyed watching GaGa's sharp rise to international fame. She told Access Hollywood: "She’s like a meteor that just came from outer space and landed on the pop landscape or pop/dance landscape and just… there was dust in everyone’s face. "I think it’s amazing. She’s largely responsible - along with others who have brought dance to the kind of mainstream or pop arena in the states. She’s incredibly talented. She’s an absolute force to be reckoned with and I’m a great admirer." Discussing her tour last year in the US, she said: "It was a micro-tour, but I’ve got to tell you it was so rewarding. It was a mission from the heart. It was like setting my wallet on fire because basically it just made no financial sense to do it, but I just reached a point where I thought, ‘That’s it! I just wanna!’ "I got a lot of reward from it right back to the heart, so it was amazing." Kylie releases Aphrodite in the UK on July 5, preceded by 'All The Lovers' on June 28.
June 5, 201015 yr She's so right! I remember years when everything in the US-Charts was lame Hip Hop or only R'n'B! Since GaGa we see there acts like La Roux, Taio Cruz or home-grown 3OH!3 being successful with Pop-Dance stuff! But it's wrong to think that she invited anything in this direction... When she was quite new and released "Poker Face" I thought that she reminded me (only) ""a bit"" of Christina Aguilera in the matter of voice and of Toyah and David Bowie in matter of appearance plus her music sounded a bit like European Dance of the 90's - that's why it's annoying me when people compare every other female singer to her as if she would be an original and would have invited the whole thing...
June 5, 201015 yr It is true that last year at least, GaGa's explosion onto the scene helped popularise the whole pop/electro pop scene and bring it to a wider audience, even though by that point it was already coming back into vogue a bit. The whole genre seems to have faded a bit since last year though, even though GaGa and other big guns doing that style will still be riding high.
June 6, 201015 yr Author I think gaga has brought pop back to the fore front and in a way made pop very poular again and for me she does make brilliant pop music, very few in my opinion make great pop music these days so its great having gaga doing and now the return of kylie is also great.
