Sophie Ellis-Bextor has changed the identity of her next single, Digital Spy can exclusively reveal.

The pop singer originally planned to release 'Off & On' as the third trailer from her upcoming album, Straight To The Heart.

However, she has now decided to release a collaboration with Dutch DJ/producer Armin van Buuren instead.

"It's called 'Not Giving Up' and I'm really excited about doing it. I'm filming a video with him very soon," she confirmed at yesterday's BAFTA TV Awards.

I know a few people who will be very pleased

Seems like an appropriate title. :kink:

No, in all honesty I'm actually looking forward to this and I hope it'll do well for her. It's really not nice to see her flop.

But 'Bittersweet' was her best single in years and if that flopped I really can't see this doing too well (although I haven't heard it yet so won't completely write it off)...

I'm certainly pleased it ain't 'Off And On' afterall, I am confident this will be stronger. However assuming Radio 1 won't playlist Sophie from now on whatever she releases, she's kinda screwed. -_-

If Fascination pay R1 a bit of money she can be saved though. :kink:

And massive YAY @ Armin track being the second single but it sounds a bit desperate to go from safe Harris track to the experimental one with Buuren, I PRAY it'll do well and create the hype for the album.

Yeah, Fascination should pay them like they blatantly did with the debut The Saturdays single and the second Girls Can't Catch single. I doubt they care enough somehow though.

I don't get how it's desperate though, care to explain that?

Well, not maybe desperate but she definitely goes from her safe territory. The Harris track is, after all, what we can expect to be the lead single, even if it's not that strong as we want it to be, and going from Harris track to the Buuren one shows that the label is a bit in panic about the success of the forthcoming album, well, in my opinion. For me, it's certainly the good choice, Sophie going different routs can bring to herself (well, I hope so) some attraction which she needs to release the album.

Oh, by the way, if you watch the video you can hear that Faithless (!!!) are going to remix the song, I really can't wait now.

Yay <3 Off & On is pleasant but not single material, especially not something to launch an album with (presuming thats what she's doing?)
Bittersweet had potential to be a hit, the fact it made it to #25 with almost no promotion or radio support is pretty good, it probably would have been top 10 had it been playlisted, her record company better see to it that this gets the radio play it deserves.

Quite relieved that they have changed the nice single, I think this should be good and help promote the album.

Sophie tweeted this today:

"today a try on of the wardrobe for Not Giving Up video. think helmut newton in Ibiza. throw in a motorboat and a nightclub. alright!"

This should mean we're getting it soon!

Also, there is this:

It sounds really good! But this couldn't be the single version, it's too... not commercial.

I just wish her voice would be a little bit clearer.

Oh, that is just a mess :( I hope this is just some remix or rough version. I was so hopeful.

Chorus is okay though
