Following the highly productive sessions for the new Manic Street Preachers studio album, the ever-distinct voice of James Dean Bradfield emerges with a re-invigorated writing confidence and a hugely anticipated debut solo album. With his band in the studio recording their eighth studio album, James has produced his first solo album, entitled 'The Great Western'. And the first single to be released is 'That's No Way To Tell A Lie'.

If any further proof were needed of Bradfield's relevance to these times, then Manics devotees old and new and the few music fans left untouched by their rich catalogue over the years will be unsurprised by the depth and quality of 'That's No Way To Tell A Lie', characterised by a chorus with G Forces, lyrics of genuine poignancy and classic playing that proves to be the perfect first bite of this inaugural solo outing. - HMV

The Manics are one of those bands that you end up with in your collection as their albums always seem to be £2.99

  • 2 weeks later...

his solo career hasnt got off to a great start, the single was 18 last week and 48 this week and going by the midweeks the albums is only top 15

i really like the solo stuff and think it deserves to do better,i just hope the next manic street preachers project does well as they are a brilliant band
