June 24, 201015 yr Italy and France finishing last in their respective groups has to be the biggest shocker so far, especially since both were in the final last time. Italy finishing behind New Zealand has to be one of the most embarrassing World Cup performances for a long time, possibly even eclipsing France's performance in 2002.
June 24, 201015 yr You wait ages for a spectacular goal direct from a free kick then two come along at once  Its like buses, when you least expected 2 come along at once
June 24, 201015 yr Anyhow back on topic, Paraguay and Japan is going to be an entertaining match to watch on the back of that performance, but I see Paraguay beating them. Now I'm looking forward to the Portugal vs Brazil tomorrow, should be a corker of a match, not to be missed.

June 24, 201015 yr I'm not holding my hopes up for it, both are through barring a Portugal defeat and Ivory Coast win with a 10 goal swing. Neither will want to play Spain in the next round but no one knows where they'll finish anyway...
June 24, 201015 yr Sometimes the most anticipated games are the ones that end up being a drag. We'll see.
June 24, 201015 yr Italy finishing behind New Zealand has to be one of the most embarrassing World Cup performances for a long time, possibly even eclipsing France's performance in 2002. Beaten of course by this year's France performance. Terrible in every single way.
June 24, 201015 yr Beaten of course by this year's France performance. Terrible in every single way. I was thinking more in terms of what the history books will show. A simple record of the results will make Italy finishing behind NZ appear worse that France finishing behind South Africa. France's performances were indeed woeful but the record books will only hint at that.
June 24, 201015 yr This World Cup is totally wack! - Italy and France, last in their groups - USA first of the group - New Zealand not losing any game - Slovakia advancing to where their supposedly superior Czech counterparts never made it - Japan and South Korea winning games and advancing to round 2 with no criminal referee help - The Portugal of Carlos Queirós scoring seven goals in one game
June 25, 201015 yr Tempts fate with 15 minutes left: Brazil v Portugal = the worst match of the tournament to date. Who would have believed it?
June 25, 201015 yr Tempts fate with 15 minutes left: Brazil v Portugal = the worst match of the tournament to date. Who would have believed it? Given the state of the group it was always a strong possibility that it would be awful.
June 25, 201015 yr Given the state of the group it was always a strong possibility that it would be awful. Yes but assuming Spain win tonight the runners up of this group have to face them so I'd have at the very least expected Portugal to try and win this match instead of watching these two teams remake West Germany v Austria 1982 WC.

If Spain were near certainties to win their group, Portugal might have made more effort.
June 25, 201015 yr Portugal 7 Brazil 4 oops that's yellow cards :heehee: I was so bored watching that, performance from both countries were awful, I was looking forward to watching the match, I should have watched the other match.
June 25, 201015 yr Tempts fate with 15 minutes left: Brazil v Portugal = the worst match of the tournament to date. Who would have believed it? Anyone who'd watched Dunga's Brazil and Quieroz's Portugal over the last two years perhaps? I knew it'd had been overhyped and that it wouldn't be entertaining, but I never feared it would be that bad.
June 25, 201015 yr Brasil-Portugal put me to sleep......on the other hand, Ivory Coast-North Korea was the most entertaining of the past couple days.....even more entertaining than Italy's match yesterday......and Italy's match was only entertaining in the final 20 minutes.....serves Italy right to go out at the end of Group play, they never seemed to show up, just like France.....
June 25, 201015 yr That suits to this weak world cup that this game was pure boredom! Germany - England just can't end in 90 minutes when you think of the other games in this world cup so far. If it's a typical game like most of them in this tournament then it'll be a good fight maybe but not much goals (let's say 1-1)! Perhaps someone wins in extra time but like I said, I expect penalties again! Edited June 25, 201015 yr by boys allowed
June 25, 201015 yr - The Portugal of Carlos Queirós scoring seven goals in one game And that was all they scored in the group stage...
