June 19, 201015 yr ^ Couldn't agree more with that team choice, why Joe Cole hasn't yet played is beyond me.
June 19, 201015 yr Well, judging from their previous 2 lackluster performances against the US and Algeria, methinks that this time the English side will either draw once more, or lose 2-1 to Slovenia....

Yes but we'll be really really fired up on Wed. You can't say how they'll play judging on the last 2 games as they could step up a gear or two and Slovenia could drop a gear. Slovenia may have a win and a draw, hence 4 points compared to our two but haven't played that good really.

True, it'll be hard to say which side will show up for the match Wednesday.....then again, mr being a Yank, I'll be pulling for another English draw.....and, I'm hoping that the US squad can score at least once against Algeria.....

This is must win if they want to qualify too (well, they could get away with a draw if USA draw or lose, but they have to win to guarantee qualification), you know.
June 20, 201015 yr James Johnson Terry Dawson Cole Barry Milner Lampard Gerrard Cole Rooney PLEASE No Johnson please but otherwise okay, especially the two times Cole. It's important the players play in positions they are best at, not that 4-4-2 formation against Algeria.
June 20, 201015 yr No Johnson please but otherwise okay, especially the two times Cole. It's important the players play in positions they are best at, not that 4-4-2 formation against Algeria. Who is going to play instead of Johnson? We only have two people who can play right back, and one is suspended.

This is must win if they want to qualify too (well, they could get away with a draw if USA draw or lose, but they have to win to guarantee qualification), you know. Slovenia need to draw. If thye draw they have 5 points, England will have 3 and it's impossible for Algeria to get more than 4.
June 20, 201015 yr James Johnson Terry Dawson Cole Barry Milner Lampard Gerrard Cole Rooney PLEASE I echo that, but I take Terry off he seems to be useless as a door stop
June 20, 201015 yr I echo that, but I take Terry off he seems to be useless as a door stop ^ Madness when we are without a suspended Jamie Carragher.
June 20, 201015 yr Terry played alright in the last game, I'd be tempted to put Upson in but Dawson seems more howler-proof. -------------------------James--------------------------- -Johnson--------Dawson------Terry-----------A. Cole- Lennon----------Barry-------Lampard----------J. Cole --------------Gerrard------------------------------------- -------------------------------Rooney--------------------
June 20, 201015 yr Slovenia need to draw. If thye draw they have 5 points, England will have 3 and it's impossible for Algeria to get more than 4. Oh yes, I'd completely forgotten England couldn't jump Slovenia if there was a draw :( Utter blonde moment.
June 20, 201015 yr Interestingly the match is on BBC so England should do OK. Look at this for a bunch of statistics: Group Stages since 1982: 1982 WC England 3v1 France - BBC England 2v0 Czechoslovakia - ITV England 1v0 Kuwait - ITV 1986 WC England 0v1 Portugal - ITV England 0v0 Morocco - ITV England 3v0 Poland - BBC 1990 WC England 1v1 Ireland - ITV England 0v0 Netherlands - BBC England 1v0 Egypt - BBC 1998 WC England 2v0 Tunisia - BBC England 1v2 Romania - ITV England 2v0 Colombia - BBC 2002 WC England 1v1 Sweden - ITV England 1v0 Argentina - BBC England 0v0 Nigeria - BBC 2006 WC England 1v0 Paraguay, BBC England 2v0 Trinidad and Tobago, ITV England 2v2 Sweden, ITV 2010 WC England 1v1 USA, ITV England 0v0 Algeria, ITV England v Slovenia, BBC Comparison: Station P W D L S A % (W=100%; D=50%; L=0%) BBC 9 7 2 0 13 1 88.89% ITV 11 3 6 2 11 8 54.55% So England playing badly can be attributed to those two games being on ITV.
