June 20, 201015 yr Murray should ease into the second week. Baltacha has a shot at the 3rd/4th round and I wouldn't rule Watson out of making the second round. Robson stands little/no chance against Jankovic and Keothavong isn't at her best.
June 21, 201015 yr This is going to sound hate filled, so I'll just say it :heehee: I fail to see why we should supprt Murray? Especially when in Scotland you can buy world cup t-shirts that say "Anyone but England" :heehee:

Especially when in Scotland you can buy world cup t-shirts that say "Anyone but England" :heehee: There's actually a reason for that though.... :P And, frankly the English players and the Tabloid Media prove the reason every time.... Andy Murray's going through a bad patch atm, that's undeniable, but at least he HAS achieved something along the way, and justifies as bit of the hype, and he's extremely self-critical too, you wont see him trying to blame the ball for example...  Or blaming the fans for his own bad performance on the court...
June 21, 201015 yr There's actually a reason for that though.... :P And, frankly the English players and the Tabloid Media prove the reason every time.... True - but taking it wider than football, Scots will never support the English at anything.. So why suddenly is it the other way around for what is, let's face it, a slightly less average Henman.
June 21, 201015 yr Then again, the home nations play separately in football whereas in tennis (more sensibly) they play as Britain. tbh, considering England, Scotland and Wales aren't really countries (or if they are, they shouldn't be :kink:), I think we should play as Britain/UK in all sports. June 21, 201015 yr Good point, I mean, you dont see the US playing as separate states do you....? You left out Northern Ireland though....LOL... Well, in the European teams championship we play as Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so can't we just do that for everything :P? It'd make our teams [particularly rugby] stronger, for a start.

Especially when in Scotland you can buy world cup t-shirts that say "Anyone but England" :heehee: I hope Murray gets knocked out in the first week - nothing to do with the general anti-English feeling towards the England World Cup team from Scotland (or lets face it - anything English) - I just can't stand the fella. If he does go on to win Wimbledon - I won't see it as a victory for Great Britain anyway - it'll be a Scottish victory. I agree with his dilemma at not bowing to the queen though - but does he need to make such a fuss about it? Why doesn't he just give her the finger? Having said that - I can't stand the English footie team and whilst I don't wish them to lose ... I won't really give a second thought to them if they go out this week. There have been many other, lets say, 'less pampered' and spoilt (and certainly less paid) teams - who - whilst some may not have had stonking victories - they've provided much better entertainment than the 'we miss our WAGS - we're so bored' English team. W*n**rs! Norma Edited June 21, 201015 yr by Norma_Snockers
June 21, 201015 yr Really disappointed in Baltacha today and Melanie South but she's been going through a bad patch. Robson played incredibly in the second set, it's a shame she missed that sitter in the tiebreak. On the Murray thing he is playing for Great Britain, i support anyone who plays for GB or England, i think that's 'cause i'm very patriotic. He has also said he will bow for the Queen so that's fine. Even though Murray is going through a rough patch he's got a very easy draw until the quarters but I think he'll get to at least the semis. If he gets to the final I can't see him not losing even against Federer. And to anyone who calls Tim Henman or Murray average players you need your head sorting. Henman was a class player he just always came up against Sampras in the semis or Ivanesavic (which he would have won if it wasn't for the rain) and he has gotten to the semis in all 4 Grand Slams. Just seen O'Brien lost as well, shame I thought she could do it but taking the 28th seed to 3 sets is brilliant for her.

June 21, 201015 yr I'm not supporting Murray anymore. Now we know he lacks real passion for Wimbledon. Come on Federer.
June 21, 201015 yr Can we clear something up: Murray NEVER said he was supporting "anyone but England" seriously. He said it as a joke in response to Tim Henman (who was in the same interview) and the interviewer sarcastically asking what he thought about Scotland's chances in the World Cup back in 06. The interviewer prints an article EVERY SINGLE YEAR once again re-iterating it was a joke.
