Homophobia is not illegal

 

not strictly true... The Public Order Act makes certain things an offense such as harassment and causing hatred and unrest which can lead to violence etc.

Also look at the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act which has aims to protect the right to freely express sexual orientation wherever you wish... if someone took offense to, say, 2 men kissing in a straight bar, then, legally, there's absolutely nothing a landlord or disgruntled punter can do about it.

 

If Dave was citing people to hate homosexuals or was baiting a person due to their sexuality, then yes, that's illegal.

 

But Dave is clearly homophobic... he just hides behind his silly religious stance to get away with it. :angry: :angry: :angry:

 

 

On the Caoimhe issue:

 

She's not the only one who has issues with Corin. Caoimhe didn't even nominate Corin this week. Mario and Josie did, yet nobody cares. JJ has the same reservations as Mario and Josie do about Corin, and nobody cares. Had Josie challenged Dave on his views (which she has done before), everybody would have cheered her on. I understand that people can dislike a certain housemate on default, we all do, but disliking them for such reasons and then loving somebody else for those exact reasons doesn't make any sense. Dave mentions his religion every single day, why is it such a blasphemous act for Caoimhe to ask him about his views? We all started to dislike Dave after he kept on about how he doesn't agree with gay marriage, so why are people against that being challenged by somebody who shares our view on the issue? Like I said, if Josie replaced Caoimhe in that conversation last night then people wouldn't have had a problem.

 

I wouldn't care if people had a valid reason for disliking her, but nearly all of the reasons why people hate Caoimhe are actually not real reasons. "She's two-faced" - no, she's not. She has one face and doesn't act friendly with people who she dislikes. "She's bitching about Corin" - is she? Have they ever been friends? What about everybody else who says the same thing about Corin? Seems to me that people conveniently forget about that. "She led Shabby on" - If acting normal is now considered "leading them on" then we've got a serious problem. :lol:

 

People unjustly hating Caoimhe makes me like her even more. I loved Shabby when everybody hated her and I began to love Sunshine when everybody hated her. Seems to me that there is a pattern emerging? And the thought of some people here actually sticking up for Dave because they dislike Caoimhe makes me question the sanity of the members on this forum. :lol:

 

Anyway, on to the other housemates. I LOVE JOSIE. She is amazing. "Keevs, I'VE GOT A WEDGE" :heart: Liking JJ again now after going off him for a short while. Ben is really really great and Mario is slipping down my list after last night. :(

And i know what you mean, i always seem to like hated HMs :lol: Sunshine got really amzing to the end but she was evicted :( Shabby was absolutely LOL and amazing in her interviews after she walked, she'd probably be my favourite in the house had she not left. And i love Caoimhe now, she's acting (not acting like in a movie or something, just behaves) in a very strong way. At first i thought it was Shabby whose back she was behind all this time but nuh-huh! They're both wonderfully opinionated and confident :o

 

I hope Caoimhe's popularity will rise due to her being close with Josie, rather than Josie's popularity going down which would be disastrous because Josie is by far my (and most's) fave :(

Hmm, im not sure about this one. I liked Caoimhe for the first few weeks and I thought there was potential for her to benefit when Shabby left, she'd no longer be the not-quite-lesbian cling-on and would be able to intergrate a lot more.

 

With the Corin issue, I certainly and probably most people who dislike Caoimhe are not disliking John, Josie etc because they only seem to be bitching about Corin when Caoimhe's around. Caoimhe is basically the instigator of all of this, and whilst Corin and Caoimhe certainly werent the best of friends in the past, Caoimhe certainly had never made it obvious of her dislike. In short, from what is being shown it appears Caoimhe seems to spend a large amount of time going from housmeate to housemate bitching about her, whenever any Corin bashing takes place, Caoimhe seems to be at the heart of it.

 

The Dave issue is a lot more complicated. If anything I agree more with what Caoimhe's saying and since im not a fan of Dave by any means I wont partically defend him that much, the sooner he leaves the better. Had Caoimhe questioned him when Dave was actually talking about religion then I could perhaps understand a bit better but I feel that it was again just an example of Caoimhe's causing trouble yet again.

 

I certainly dont think it would be horrific if Caoimhe stayed a few more weeks, on the condition that when she would leave to a chorus of boos. Scheming, bitching and backstabbing are always 3 brilliant qualities in housemates and are three things Caoimhe does rather brilliantly, if she stopped moaning she could actually become a bit more likeable.

 

What worries me really though is how she seems to be gaining in populairy. This time last week forums like DS were full of people who wanted her out. But these people have now turned their attention to the shouty but dim Nathan, the gossipy but likeable Ife and Corin - who seems to be the target of peoples hatred now purely because thats what Caoimhe told them to do.

Oh and i forgot to say it's actually JOSIE who started the whole situation (with David's views i mean)! She was the first to ask the question but Caoimhe interrupted her and it launched just like that :o

They've just shown a 20 second interview with each of the new Housemates on BBLB, Rachel looks annoying, the boy seems really boring but the other girl looks like she will stir it up a bit. The 3rd girl said she was standing next to Caoimhe on Lauch Night and she said Caoimhe was snotty to her when she tried to make conversation so she's going to tell her :P :D

on this Caiomhe-Dave thing, I dont respect Daves views- but why is Caiomhe questioning him in the first place? Everyone should be allowed their own views, calling him hypocritical is just stirring up trouble, she then started shouting at him- she clearly wanted an argument and so I believe she was in the wrong here, all the Caiomhe lovers will all still start shouting at Dave and saying 'He is vile! :puke2:' but he didnt really do a lot wrong and while his beliefs are horrible, he is damn right in saying she is trying to cause trouble

 

and Josie does seem to be stirring up trouble as she started the whole Shabby-Nathan drama, if it was her arguing, I would think the same and I like Josie- I know whos in the wrong on an argument when I see it and it doesnt matter on who likes who

john james is just such a negative person that he doesnt enjoy seeing other people happy. much like caoimhe. if only this was shown a few days ago he'd probably have more chance of going tonight.

I still wouldn't be surprised if he went ... no one really guessed Rachael or Sunshine going.

Corin's such a legend :wub: I do love how totally oblivious she is to how annoyed John James is and her going OMG OMG IM BUZZING moments after JJ's impression was brilliant.

 

Corin and JJ apparantly had quite a huge arguement today too. Personally I think were begining to see the same John James we saw in the first week again now, but unlike Rachael it doesnt look like Corin's going to act like a wallflower.

 

Ben and Caoimhe should just go away tbh. And be miserable. Together. Just away from my viewing eyes. I cant believe they're wondering why they're disliked by other people? If I was Caoimhe i'd be wondering why someone hasnt killed me yet.
