In my head rock? LOL it clearly isnt.

It clearly is! I'll try and find some sources if you want. I think the instrumental makes it obvious.

Although I was once listening to Kerrang, and they have this advert, and play a clips of a popular rock song, and then a voice-over comes in, and says "We play proper rock music", and then they play a clip of a song from their playlist. The advert doesn't work for me though, because I usually prefer the song that apparently isn't "proper rock music". But anyway, the songs used in that advert that I've heard are In My Head, This Ain't a Love Song and Robbie's 2nd single from his new album, which I've completely forgotten the name of.

This reminds me of when I said Meet Me Halfway was a ballad, and people disagreed with me then, too.

well yes:

1. Its them

2. They have a huge fanbase who will buy and (allegedly ;) ) multi-buy anything they release (One Shot suffered as the album was already available)

3. to quote the most depressing reason of all: 'dey iz well fit innit'

4. its urban, the main genre around atm

I also hope that they dont make it as the song is utter tripe and literal autotuned ear-ache

I have lost all respect for Digital Spy when I read that they gave it 4 stars out of 5 :(

I agree with all that but i am hoping the fact that it's the worst song of 2010 will stop it getting to no1.

'In My Head' being rock is the same as saying Paris Hilton's 'Stars Are Blind' is reggae.

They are both pop records with elements of different genres. Just like a someone's nationality, it's hard to find a pure example. Most songs cross over.

Yeah, I think that's true. Like if you want a song to get to #1, it's best if it overlaps into a few genres, so that it appeals to a wider audience.

Yes because Kerrang knows all about 'rock' music. :manson: 'In My Head' is NOT a rock song. :|

You DON'T think it's a rock song? It clearly is to me, especially if you listen to the instrumental. If you want a sub-genre, I'd say pop rock.

Pop-Rock, yes. Rock? No. It's not a rock song.

Although I think Jason derulo is pushing it a bit as his songs are pop/dance lite.I definately think Alexandra's Dangerous is rock though.

Have you ever heard of sarcasm?

Pop-Rock, yes. Rock? No. It's not a rock song.

It's not even pop-rock?

I think the advert was trying to say that there's mainstream so-called "rock" songs, such as the ones I mentioned, but Kerrang radio were suggesting that the songs they play are true rock songs, and the other popular rock songs are sort of wannabe rock songs.

i love Dangerous, should have been on the album.

I think it is going to be on the re-release of Overcome, it is definately one of her best vocal performances.

As far as I'm aware, pop-rock is a sub-genre of rock.

The song is barely borderline pop-rock. "In My Head" is nowhere near being a rock song, at all.

Just 'cause a song has a guitar riff doesn't make it a rock song.

to be fair to Eric- Wikipedia lists it as Pop-Rock/Dance-pop, so it has rock elements in it without being a full on rock song

Wikipedia has been helpful to me today :kink:

It won't be. It's already been a b-side. There would be no point.

And even Dangerous isn't rock - it's pop/rock like Kelly Clarkson's and P!nk's material. Dangerous is kinda like Jamelia's Beware Of The Dog (which was very underrated imo :().

http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks/review...ulo-in-my-head/ Here it's described as an R&B/Pop/Rock fusion

At least a few other people agree with me anyway.

EDIT: Jason Derulo's own myspace page says his album is a blend of rock, pop, electronic and R&B. http://www.myspace.com/jasonderulo
