that parts quite irrelevant to the topic in question really. As music tastes all boil down to personal opinion. Everyone knows Madonna is the Queen of Pop, but even she's churned out $h!t such as 'Music', 'Hollywood', 'American Life'. So by your theory, Madonna wouldn't be QOP either. ;)

...except those three songs are three of her best! The entire American Life album is BEYOND brilliant.

Madonna then Britney and now LADY GAGA.

If anyone still Thinks Britney is use must be mad. A Queen of pop wouldnt Put out Rubbish Music such as 3

What's wrong with '3'. it's like every f***in song these days. Funny and forgettable...

Madonna is the Queen but she put some rubbish songs like Revolvar, or whole of Hard Candy.... imo..

Creativity doesn't sell to the masses :(

The likes of Madonna/Kylie can't win though. They try something different and it doesn't sell and gets panned by critics, but stay the same and it's 'blah blah typical Kylie, no progression' etc...

For the most part it was try-hard and trying to glean credibility, something she managed so effortlessly on Ray Of Light. However she did trump this with the absolutely awful Hard Candy.

Also where was this stuff said about Sophie supposedly being dropped? I doubt they would with a new single they're filming the video for any day now and the album about to be released, though I'll prepare for it happening after that.

Well maybe her best days are behind (in the dance routine), but people still like her.

When u watch Onyx Hotel Tour you can see how she doing that with passion, but now after the mental breakdown she has lost a bit of that passion, because of that she is now good dancer.. She needs come back her self-confidence, and everything would be like before imo.

You have probably hit the nail on the head.Is it likely that Britney will ever have the right frame of mind to launch a comeback. She does seem to have lost her focus, drive and ambition to be on top.It is a real shame because at the height of her fame she was a really good live performer and was in a league of her own.

I do not agree that Lady Gaga will be a long term force once you go freak you have to keep pushing the boundaries further and further and I think people will get bored.Plus I have heard it said many times before that live she can be underwhelming and her vocals not that strong.

There was really NOTHING try-hard about the AL album, save perhaps for the rap on the title song but even then it was heavily ironic.

In Sophie's thread on PJ. It's all a bit of a mess because some people posted stuff without giving sources which then got deleted so the thread doesn't make much sense if you read through it now but a few various reliable people seem to think she's been dropped by Fascination. Somebody also said she's signed with AATW but I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

The news about the new single and video has gone suspiciously quiet over the last couple of weeks. The person who said she's been dropped also said the album's scrapped and there'll be a Greatest Hits in November. I'm tempted to believe that to be honest.

For those of you that said 'GaGa is the queen of pop' Sit down right now because your just embarrassing yourself here.

People are obviously that delusion if they do think GaGa is queen when she's only been around for like TWO years.

Britney is the Princess of Pop. And Madonna is the Queen. GaGa is no way NEAR to getting round there.

But stupid younger people have come along and are fascinated with 'GaGa's looks and videos..' when there not really original there just an absolute RIP OFF, of mainly EVERY Madonna video.B

But people are just so ******* stupid and blind to even see that.

I just read that thread, one regular member posted a RUMOUR and then some randomer with a few posts said there was "confirmation on the internet Sophie had left Fascination and she now has no label", but he provided no source and nobody in the topic believed him.

Good one. :heehee:

Right, in short

OVERALL: Madge. Kylie is not quite a global star on the same scale, and although Mariah and Celine have hugely impressive record sales, I don't think they can claim to have had the same level of widespread impact on pop culture as Madonna.

RIGHT NOW: There is a holy trinity of female singers; GaGa, Beyonce and Pink. GaGa has of course dominated the past year and a bit, and Beyonce and Pink have really taken themselves off to another level. Rihanna is snapping at their heels though.

Of course there are other female singers who are still enjoying reasonable levels of success, but neither Leona Lewis or Alicia Keys are what you'd call iconic in the way the aforementioned three could be, and Britney just isn't there in terms of ability. Christina of course is due for a royal flush. Mariah and Whitney are pretty much done.

Ever? Madonna.

Right now? Gaga. With Beyonce and Rihanna behind her. Gaga is probably the biggest global pop sensation since the Spice Girls' breakthrough. Someone said Britney at her peak was bigger, but I really don't think so. Maybe in the States, but definitely not globally. In the UK, The Fame has sold nearly double Britney's debut, and we're in an era of falling album sales. Also, Britney's only had two absolutely massive hits in her entire career (Baby One More Time and Toxic), while Gaga's already had 3 (Poker Face, Bad Romance, Telephone).

Bit rich when Britney in herself isn't original in the slightest any more. SHe may have once been the Princess of Pop but not any more.

It's interesting how you consider 'Telephone' an "absolutely massive hit" yet 'Just Dance' not so. :o

Just Dance was bigger -_- and none of the others would have happened without it...

Those four are obviously huge and then "Paparazzi" was very big, as "Alejandro" has the potential to be (yes its peak will be lower but it achieved year-high sales for a #7 last week).

Oops I Did It Again was massiv e too.

Compare Britney and Gaga is ridicolous.

Womanizer was worse than a pre-school class's rhyme.

WHAT? Womanizer was genious. Have you heard Lily Allen's version which strips it down and is even more amazing as a song?

'3' on the other hand...

I hate her but I must say it - Madonna

But Tina Turner sings longer...
