January 5, 201114 yr Author No, on the contrary, i think she has lesser chance to get through. The same with Jonas, only his chances are better. I guess I don't really believe in the power/advantage that winning Webjoker gives. But maybe i just judge by last year's results! I don't think she has any chance to get through! As for the power of the webjoker on the contest itself, I don't think we can really see a trend of how well they do until it's been running for at least five years :o But Jonas really strikes me as the sort of song that will win over the Anna Bergendahl acoustic pop contingent. First time I heard it when it reached the final ten of the webjoker I thought to myself 'this one could actually potentially be an MF finalist!'

January 5, 201114 yr Author It's tricky to predict the outcome without listening to the final versions! And who knows, Snalla Snalla managed to finish 2nd after all! Very true, I'm looking forward to hear them! Although I don't think Jonas' song will be changed that much personally, maybe a bit of tinkering. Julia's backing track needed to be turned right down, it completely drowned her vocals. True, although it was later revealed that Caroline was easily in the top 2 in her semi initially anyway before the ridiculous rules transferred votes from her haters over to Emilia. Not that I was complaining at the time as I adore You're My World and was ecstatic to see it in the final but I certainly grew to love Snalla Snalla more in the end.
January 7, 201114 yr this is the first year i am going to be paying major attention to this! I cannot wait for it :o
January 28, 201114 yr Author Anybody know if SVT do an iPlayer catch up sort of service for people outside the UK to use? Looks like my Saturday shifts at work will be changed from 11-6 to 3-10 meaning that I'd miss all of the MF heats :/ Although I've got the weekend of the final off... Looks like I'll have to book Eurovision Saturday off as holiday as well...
January 28, 201114 yr Aren't the MF heats available on the SVT website for a period of time after all the heats have been done with.

I take it you mean outside Sweden :P But yes like Jack said, SVT put all of the heats up on their player, but only after all of the heats are done. That said you could probably get hold of a torrent somewhere.

That said you could probably get hold of a torrent somewhere. Yes I did, well spotted :P Oh right, I wasn't sure whether people outside Sweden would be able to view them as a 'catch up' or if they'd make it unrestricted like NRK have with the Melodi Grand Prix shows. Crap, I forgot how $hit hot SVT are on deleting all of the performances from youtube straight away as well, they really hate for any songs to have advantage over the others (well as long as Christer isn't determining who gets the advantage at least). The MGP songs are all put on iTunes as soon as that week's heat has finished and they don't seem to care that the performances are all up on youtube. Gah :drama: Looks like I'm going to miss all of the heats/performances in the semis then :/
January 28, 201114 yr Is it easy to get hold of Mp3's of the live performances on sites like rapidshare, mediafire, etc? I doubt I'll be watching live, but I would quite like to hear the songs before all heats are done. But why do SVT think songs in earlier heats would have that much of an advantage? It's just one example, but the top two in the MGP final last year both came from heat 3...

It's just one example, but the top two in the MGP final last year both came from heat 3... I guess they just really want to ensure a level playing field. If songs from week 1 are shooting up iTunes/getting played on chart shows and generally ingrained more in popular culture, it could be argued that everyone will be really familiar with them and the newer week 4 songs will suffer in comparison. On the other hand, those that are more fresh in the mind from week 4 are generally the ones that shoot up first on iTunes when they're all released together after the heats are over. But on balance I can definitely see why they do it - at least they can't be accused of bias from any corner (apart from the obvious Christer generated bias which is well documented anyway).

I doubt I'll be watching live, but I would quite like to hear the songs before all heats are done. I found mine the last two years within 48 hours of the actual show.. Torrents are usually very good, They'll also upload the videos as well. If a song gets eliminated however - The Studio Version will be available almost right away.
January 30, 201114 yr I downloaded last year's MF shows except for the final i think :( Planning on doing the same this year.
January 30, 201114 yr Has anybody been reading the Le Kid blog on Scandipop? I'm really hoping they have a corker of a song because the blog has served to put me off them quite a bit. They really are incredibly up their own arse, but try and cover it up by sounding "quirky" and for anybody who doesn't believe me, you should have a read. http://www.scandipop.co.uk/?cat=1117
January 30, 201114 yr Oh Peter, they're not THAT bad! A bit happy-clappy and technicolour and concerned with portraying that but not exactly THAT up themselves...
January 30, 201114 yr Author I didn't think so either, having read all of their blogs on there. Still obsessed with them at the moment seeing as I've heard 5 songs from them - loved 4 and the other was ok - definitely in my top 3 most anticipated MF entries along with Sanna Nielsen and Love Generation! A lot of people in pop music are somewhat up themselves anyway and it doesn't ever detract from my enjoyment of the music, I just try to avoid watching/reading too many interviews if they have a reputation
January 30, 201114 yr Hmmm I dunno, they just don't really come across as being likeable. In their eagerness to put across their camp happy clappy funness it all seems a bit cold. They take their "not taking themselves too seriously" very seriously if that makes any sense.

They take their "not taking themselves too seriously" very seriously if that makes any sense. I do get what you mean. They do come across as quite 'try hard' but I wouldn't say that they come across as up their own arse, more perhaps trying to live up this persona that they've created for themselves. Whereas an act like Alphabeat, never really give off that impression - the fun all seems very natural and authentic. Denmark is supposed to be the world's happiest nation though
January 31, 201114 yr Author Odds from Ladbrokes before the songs are heard (is MF big business for British bookies these days?) Eric Saade - Popular 6/1 Sanna Nielsen - I'm in love 9/1 Love Generation 6/1 Le Kid - Oh my god 8/1 Melody Club - The Hunter 9/1 Dilba - Try again 11/1 Nicke Borg - Leaving home 12/1 Danny Saucedo - In the Club 15/1 Brolle - Seven days and seven nights 15/1 Simon Forsberg - Tid att andas 20/1 Jonas Matsson - On my own 20/1 Sebastian Karlsson - No one else could 20/1 Linda Pritchard - Alive 20/1 Anders Fernette - Run 20/1 Jenny Silver - Something in your eyes 20/1 Christian Walz - Like suicide 20/1 Linda Bengtzing - E det fel pa mig 25/1 The Playtones - The King 25/1 Pernilla Andersson - Desperados 30/1 Sara Lumholdt - Enemy 33/1 Swingfly - Me and my drum 33/1 Rasmus Viberg - Social Butterfly 33/1 Shirley's Angels - I thought it was forever 33/1 Linda Sundblad - Forever 33/1 Sara Varga - Spring for livet 33/1 Lasse Stefanz - I Surrender 33/1 Anniela - Elektrisk 33/1 Elisabeth Andreassen - Vaken i en drom 50/1 Babsan - Ge mig en spanjor 50/1 The Moniker - Oh my god! 50/1 Loreen - My heart is refusing me 75/1 Julia Alvgard - Better or worse 75/1 Le Kid seem oddly hyped up from all corners to say that they're the sort of act that usually crash out 7th in the semi. Not to mention that they've still never had a hit single in Sweden, unlike the majority of the artists in this list...
January 31, 201114 yr That must be the equivalent of four people placing a bet on Le Kid then  I'd have thought Eric would be far and away the favourite in all honesty...
January 31, 201114 yr Author That must be the equivalent of four people placing a bet on Le Kid then  I'd have thought Eric would be far and away the favourite in all honesty... Plenty of Swedish bookies have them as high as this too! Eric's on top of every set of odds I've seen unsurprisingly... I do hope that Sanna can pull something special out of the bag again, anyone know when we can hear the first lot of clips?
