"Mean"?

 

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the song, and hope the video's in vein of the artwork, but I'm surprised she went with this after the recent hype of "Enchanted" or a clear crossover track like "The Story Of Us". But good on her!

Apparently it's a dual release. Mean is being sent to country radio in the US, The Story of Us is the single elsewhere.

'The Story Of Us' has been Radio 1 play-listed, seems like it's the UK single. Very surprised, thought they'd stop supporting her again. But 'Back To December' was on the release schedule - have they ignored this and quickly moved on or what? :unsure:

Went to her concert at Birmingham last night. AMAZING!!!

 

 

Is there a video for The Story of Us yet? If not, why did they even bother releasing it over here, just to coincide with the tour?? :huh:

I don't know if a 'The Story Of Us' video is going ahead now, it's been and gone in the UK single-wise, and the 'Mean' music video is supposed to be released this week.

Well it was suppose to go to radio in the US as well, but that fell through.

I agree. I think they need to release either 'Speak Now' or 'Enchanted' as the next single.

Good video, it's got me back into the song again. 'Enchanted' needs to be the next single though, it could be such a big hit. :(

I really hope 'Enchanted' will be the next single. Its screaming for a release. 'Mean' is not bad (no pun intended) but it'll do nothing chartwise IMO.

 

I'd love to see 'If This Was A Movie' released too, but I doubt it since its a bonus track in the deluxe edition :lol:

Do you think there's any chance of Taylor performing The Story of Us on Britain's Got Talent next week? It would be great if she did, she could finally get another top 10 hit!

If she was to get another top 10 hit, it wouldn't be with that. The UK have lost interest in Taylor anyway. Too many summer potential smashes on the way in the next few months. That song will be at the bottom of the chart and at the back of people's minds.

It's possible if she did perform on BGT though :) And I think The Story of Us is one of the most UK-friendly tracks on Speak Now :)

The release of TSOU seems to have been and gone in the UK (it did get R1 play-listed), so if she had any hope of grabbing a BGT performing slot it would be with the next UK single I'd expect. I don't see her getting a slot, I'd have thought it a bit random (never thought of it happening at all before seeing it mentioned it here), but I don't know what her schedule is currently like.

She has a small gap between her tour from tomorrow until Thursday, so there could be a possibility she'll perform.

 

The video for 'The Story Of Us' is nice, it sadly won't do anything over here but hopefully it will in the US.

'Sparks Fly' is the fifth single, being sent to US radio on July 18th.

Great choice, something I love that shouldn't get a butchered radio edit :D Only bad thing perhaps, wasn't there a demo or some unfinished version around quite a bit before the album? :unsure:

 

edit: Actually thats silly. The big fans who will've heard it then would've heard it anyway due to the album, so no logic to what I was thinking :lol:

I haven't liked anything from her this era ... actually I only like 'You Belong With Me' and 'Love Story', but 'Mean' is fantastic, heard it alot whilst in America and really grown to love it even if it is a bit typical.
