Delta Goodrem is an old idol of mine. Back in the day when I was a 15 year old boy, I really believed that I was Born To Try :(. Delta's debut album Innocent Eyes topped the ARIA charts becoming the best seller of the 2000s and the sixth best selling record in Australian history. It also sold over 800,000 units in the UK and spawned three top 10 singles. Her follow up record Mistaken Identity was also a solid seller but controversy over her relationship with former Westlife teletubby Brian McFadden hindered her UK career and she hasn't released any material here since 2005. I still think Delta's music and her voice are perfection but her last album was a bit disappointing so here's hoping she can change my opinion when her 4th record is released this year. Strangely, apart from her two placings at #1, only one other voter placed Goodrem in their top 10.

JLO actually started off pretty well in the competition but the votes dried up and she just finishes outside the top 50. I;'m unsure whether she's more famous for her box office flops, her constant change of male suitors or her arse, but musically she has had some strong solid moments [particulary her earlier, more dance-orientated material]. For a while Lopez could do no wrong but a more RnB route and hideous collabarations with Fat Joe amongst others seemed to kill her music career. P.S For such a photographed woman, it's hard to find a DECENT picture of her :S

Blondie frontwoman. The band rose to fame in the late 70s having a string of chart hits – most famously the million selling Heart Of Glass. Blondie also made a comeback in 1999 with their first #1 single in nearly two decades – [the longest gap between #1 singles for ORIGINAL releases].

The last dozen to be listed are all rubbish imo, apart from Dannii who's music I actually really like :o

I'm also a fan of Little Boots, but I wouldn't say her album was one of the best that year!

I like Jennifer Lopez, but at the same time I couldnt really name you that many of her songs that I love all that much. All of my favourites from her seem to flop anyway, notably the wonderful Hold It Dont Drop It.

Love Delta aswell, shame she's given up on the UK though :(

Debbie Harry is a legend. She also influenced a lot the career of Shirley Manson.

Watch this live performance of Call Me (a duet with Shirley):

Another total non entity from the RnB crowd. Ciara scored a UK #1 hit in 2005 with Goodies [selling all of 21,000 copies to do so]. A few dire Missy Elliot collabarations, rumours about her having man parts, and more floptastic hits later and Ciara is preparing to release her 4th album in October.

Evanescence frontwoman with a gorgeous, deep, enriching voice and beautiful songs such as My Immortal.

A lot of artists i like so far....

Lights - she's really underated, Saviour, Second Go and Drive My Soul are great songs.

Colbie- she's got some really great songs but a lot of them remain as album tracks (Oxygen, One Fine Wire, It Stops Today etc.)

VV Brown- saw her live in the city. great concert, she's a lot of fun and really sweet and super underated!!!

Little Boots- same as VV although i agree her album isnt as good, all the singles are good

KT Tunstall, I loved both albums i think the wrong song was picked as the lead off which killed the project before it started, i hope the new album does better!

Ashely Tisdale- yes i voted for her, a few years ago i hated her, but i can't deny that Guilty Pleasure is actually a really good album, way better than i expected

It's a farce that so many legends have come lower than grubs like Ciara (who can't even say her own name properly)
Celine Dion's best stuff is from her French album - did she had more than one french album?

LOL. She released 6 French albums, including her debut.

Evanescence had some great singles. I only heard Lithium from the second album and it wasn't so great so I never investigated further.
Ciara really just defies bland R&B female, for all the others that have been branded with that tag (Keri, Ashanti, Amerie etc) theres at least a good back catalogue to be backed up by, Ciara doesnt have this, bar the odd good song here and there. Her recent material isnt even awful, it's just complete nothingness.

The one that came out in 95?

The one that came out in 95?

Actually I just checked and she released like 14 albums in French :o But their first 8 albums were released in Quebec only (in the 80s).

Much as I appreciate Grami's wonderful work here, a little bit of sick has just come up into my mouth.

Do we REALLY consider Little Boots and Jennifer Lopez to be better and more important female stars than Annie Lennox or Shirley Manson? Ciara better than Debbie Harry? GOOD GRIEF.

Some very surprising results. I really am not sure where all these V V Brown fans have suddenly popped up from, given the woman has sold all of 7 records worldwide. She seems like quite the arrogant cnut aswell.

She surely must be one of the biggest British exports of the last twelve months, across Europe at least.

With her syprupy, sweet voice and a look that pays homeage to the 1960s, Duffy exploded onto the music scene in 2008 with the critically acclaimed Rockferry album. Not really my cup of tea tbh though Warwick Avenue was a pretty brilliant record, she seems to appeal to all generations and it'll be interesting to see how her follow up album performs when it's finally released. Anyone else thinks she looks like Edith Bowman?

I feel like I'm churning out the same lines over & over, but Beverley Knight is another sorely underrated artist! She's been cited as one of Britain's greatest soul singers, drawing inspiration from Aretha Franklin and releasing six studio albums since 1995. It wasn't until 2002 that she reached a mainstream audience with the radio favourite Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda. I always liked Gold ^_^.

Hmmm. Again I don't think Jordin Sparks should be this high. I have nothing against her but other than having a strong voice and some decent produced tracks, she's not really got a whole lot going for her. Sparks triumphed on American Idol in 2007 and became the first contestant from the show to have reasonable success worldwide since Kelly Clarkson.
