The concert, which takes place on 12 September and will be shown on BBC One, will also feature comic talent including Bruce Forsyth and Jack Dee.

Some 60,000 fans and troops are expected to attend the event.

Proceeds will go to the Help For Heroes charity, which raises funds for wounded service personnel and their families.

Other musical acts already confirmed for the line-up include rapper Plan B, The Saturdays and James Blunt.

Bryn Parry, head of the Help For Heroes charity, said: "Our boys and girls, both those operating in the remote patrol bases and those recovering from life changing injuries, will hear this concert and know that they are in the forefront of our minds.

"They are not forgotten, wherever they are."

Some 150 personnel injured in combat will attend the show free of charge, while members of the public are being given the chance to purchase 1,000 extra tickets for other servicemen through the Tickets For Troops charity.

Tickets for the concert are due to go on general sale at 0900 BST on Wednesday 4 August.

Robbie To Headline Heroes Concert

3 Aug 2010

Robbie Williams is headlining an incredible line-up of stars who will come together on Sunday, 12th September 2010, at Twickenham Stadium for one of the biggest live events of the year, which will also be broadcast on BBC One.

Marking the nation's appreciation of our military heroes, the concert is a landmark in the history of entertainment and is in honour of the service and sacrifice made by the men and women who risk everything for their country in the line of duty.

Speaking about his involvement Robbie said: “I am honoured to be a part of this show and to help draw attention to the amazing job done by our servicemen and women throughout the world. Their dedication to our country is phenomenal and we are all so proud of them”.

The show will be hosted by the cream of the UK’s comedy talent; John Bishop, Kevin Bridges, Jack Dee, Jason Manford and Michael McIntyre and joining Robbie on the line-up are some of the biggest names in music including James Blunt, Alexandra Burke, The Faces, Pixie Lott, Plan B and The Saturdays, who have all donated their services for free. There will also be a special guest appearance by none other than the legendary Bruce Forsyth.

60,000 fans and troops will be at Twickenham Stadium for the show, with the guest of honour including 150 injured service personnel and their carers who will receive free tickets as a small ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices they have made.

The public will also have the chance to show extra support by purchasing an 'extra' ticket to treat a member of the Armed Forces to the concert. There are only 1000 of these extra tickets available and they can be purchased from www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.

All proceeds will go straight to Help for Heroes. "Help for Heroes is all about ordinary people doing their bit to support the men and women of our Armed Forces," said Bryn Parry, CEO of Help For Heroes. "We feel helpless when we hear about our young men and women being wounded and want to do what we can; with Help for Heroes we can make a difference."

Hundreds of thousands of members of the British public have already ‘done their bit’ for Help for Heroes and raised a stunning £59 million to date; now music and comedy legends to play their part and help ensure that our Heroes receive the best support that money can buy.

Tickets for the Heroes Concert go on sale tomorrow morning (Wednesday 4th August) at 09:00 BST.

Great news :cheer:

Looking forward to seeing him headline - I presume he will get 15-20 minutes as that is pretty standard for the big acts at these charity events - although seeing as he is headlining he may get longer. What I am dissapointed though is that is being produced by Live Nation which is what reports meant when they said Rob had commitments with Live Nation therefor ruling out a one off Greatest Hits gig. -_-

On another note would someone tell him to get rid of that comb over - it adds a good 10 years on and aint very pop star-ish

The sentence "comic talent including Bruce Forsyth" is surely an oxymoron?

I hope he's not gonna try to dance. :( Brucie I mean, not Robbie. Although....

The tickets are a bit pricey. Do the troops get in for free?

It's hardly star studded is it? Good on him for agreeing to appear though.

Maybe we'll get a Robbie/Gary 'Shame' duet? -_-

Yeah the line-up is pretty crap - the only other proper big name there is James Blunt but that is based on his success 4/5 years ago. They need to get some other big names the or viewers will switch during the show. I am looking forward to Rob - hopefully get gets close to 30 minutes. It will be his first big gig in four years and there is nothing better than Rob in stadium at the top of his game so he better sing Let me Entertain You to wake everyone up like he had to at Live 8 after so many $h!t acts.

I wouldnt mind this being the setlist

LMEY

Bodies

Supreme

Come Undone

Millennium

Feel

Shame

Angels

Do you think he will get to sing as many as 8 songs Scotty? I think we will be lucky to get 4 or 5.

I was tempted to get tickets, apart from Robbie, the line up does seems pretty crap. Plenty of opportunity to get some, the usual scramble, excluding the inner circle tickets didn't seem to happen.

Could of clicked anytime of the day and purchased seated or outer standing. Twice I clicked to buy, then decided to watch at home on the tv instead. I'll no doubt regret it if it's a really good gig

I like Michael McIntyre

The Faces? The Rod Stewart type Faces do they mean?

 I changed my mind, I clickerty clicked on buy tickets

Tom Jones joins line-up for Help for Heroes concert at Twickenham Stadium

4:59pm Thursday 2nd September 2010

This Is Local London

Welsh sex bomb Tom Jones will be joining the nation’s top musical talent at Twickenham Stadium.

The legendary singer has joined the list of performers at the Help for Heroes concert.

He said: “It’s great to be able to do something for our troops, and it’s pretty rare to get the chance to do something fun and uplifting on home soil.

“Not only will this event help us understand what these brave men and women in service do for us, it will also help raise enough funds to really make a difference in their recovery.

“I’m proud to be able to help in any way I can.”

He will take to the stage along with That That stars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, Katherine Jenkins and James Blunt to perform in front of 60,000 fans and troops on September 12.

Aslo performing on the night will be a number of the UK’s best known comedy personalities including Peter Kay, Michael McIntryre and Jack Dee.

All proceeds will go to Help for Heroes to raise money to help fund further rehabilitation centres for wounded soldiers.

I'm going to see Robbieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :yahoo: :yahoo:

I only just saw this Sparkle - delighted you are going  :yahoo:

To answer you question I am nor sure if he will sing that many - but if he does it will be in a BRITS-style medley with two or three sung in full (Shame will def be sung in full). I am sure he will get 20 minutes or more - although thinking about it now he might not sing Bodies seeing as the lyrics might not be appropriate for the event :( I hope he opens with a full version of LMEY and wakes everyone up just like he did at Live 8.

Glad Tom Jones has been added - finally another serious 'big name'. Shame there are no bands though - doubt most soldiers will be hugely into most of the girl groups - well their music anyway. :P
