Shame we're unlikely to see them in the singles though. Other new entries next week in the top 10 will be Saturdays. Hoosiers will be top 20, the comp "This Is UK Mcs" will also be in & so should "Pure Swing".

The Flashback to August 1985: Charts compiled by MRIB

02 DUTY FREE 14.10...the quite astounding sitcom with Keith Barron & Gwen Taylor, Neil Stacey & Joanna Van Gysegam on holiday in Spain

06 BULMAN 11.40...Don Henderson in as Detective George Bulman in the spin off from Strangers, & The XYY Man

07 WINNER TAKES ALL 11.30...Jimmy Tarbuck hosts the final Friday Series of the gambling general knowledge quiz. It moved to Sundays in 1986. Then Tarby moved on to Tarby's Frame Game & Winner Takes All became a daytime show with Geoffrey Wheeler in the chair for 2 years during 1987 & 1988

08 TAGGART 11.00...Mark McManus as the detective in the 3 part "Murder In Season"

09 EASTENDERS 10.80

15 BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE 9.90...an ITV showing of the 1979 sequel by Irwin Allen with Michael Caine, Sally Field, & Telly Savalas as they seek a fortune in returning to the capsized ship

16 WHERE THERE'S LIFE 9.80...Dr Miriam Stoppard & those real life touching tales on Wednesday at 7pm

17 ARE YOU BEING SERVED? 9.70...a repeat of the final series of the sitcom

18 SHINE ON HARVEY MOON 9.50...Kenneth Cranham stars in the almost final series of the East End after World War 2 lighthearted series. It did return in 1995, when Meridian decided to take it on from Central

19 THE KRYPTON FACTOR 9.30...Gordon Burns in Britain's toughest quiz. The first in the 9th series.

20 THE PAUL DANIELS MAGIC SHOW 9.20...Paul, magic & Debbie McGee. Such a shame we don't see Paul on TV much these days. This was his final series before he started "Every Second Counts" in 1986, which was to be the replacement for his first BBC quiz series "Odd One Out" which ran on Friday nights, between 1981 to 1985. "Every Second Counts" took him to 1993, then he did "Wipeout" until 1996. Turning down a dumbed down daytime version in 1998. Which, of course was taken on by the late great Bob Monkhouse who wasn't fussy by then, but it was still better with Paul & not very fair that Bob, should be stuck in Daytime TV. Which showed as it became the top Daytime show on TV, over a 5 year period.

The Top Albums in Aug 1985: What a collection in the car we had then. Got a bit bored with Dire Straits though. Never liked the Boss, but Now 5 got a good play or 2. Did like the track "Don`t Ask Me Why", but it never did a thing over here, despite loads of airplay mainly on Radio 2 but that was in 1980, not 85.

Thanks Dave

I'd like to say that I had that mp3 for you, but sadly, I don't :( Glad to see Hurts doing something or other on pre-orders, but I can't see either the single or the album going more than top 40 based on that :(

= Position on Chart Show tv

Can the Saturdays hold out to Sunday? What will happen next week? Is it back to one week number ones? I predict Eminem & Rihanna will finally get there next week, but what of One Night Only? These questions, will all be answered next Friday.

Don't forget Jason Scott will play a complete top 40 on Sunday at 4pm on http://www.thesuperstation.info & for oldie fans, join Richard Todd et moi on Sunday at 2pm on Atlantic Oldies 2NG for a look back to August 1982...where we guarantee to play a host of forgotten classis including "Arthur Daley E's Alright" with the Firm.

Blimey Diana Vickers still in the top 10 on the physical chart only

Thanks Dave, AMAZING that Stromae looks like going top 40 this week, do you think it will hold on?

Shame, I wonder why they're not clicking here

Wonderful Life is #3 on iTunes Germany right now, and the album is #8 on Amazon there based on pre-orders alone :o

No idea :( I think it's because their sound just isn't flavour of the month here right now. Whereas abroad they appear to be able to appreciate classic pop songs better than chav $h!te

Great to see Alex and SWY already on the pre-order chart hope it does well.Someone on DS is saying that the Sats are only 300 copies ahead of FloRida they have not listed a sourse though.

I'd say Roll Deep and Chase & Status are more of a threat than One Night Only, and could well be battling it out for #1 next week with Eminem/Rihanna. One things for sure, wherever The Saturdays end up this week, they'll be at the opposite end of the top ten next week :drama:

The Top Singles in Aug 1985: On the Network Top 30 sponsored by Nescafe. Just after Live Aid & there was Nik Kershaw & the Cars back in the chart. And has anyone actually heard the Rockin' Sidney version of My Toot Toot, complete with squeeze box?

Brilliant to see One Night Only as a new number 1 on pre-orders only.

So, they are number one contestants for next week. :yahoo:

Wow... if those positions hold, we'll have two songs in the top 75 this week that are non-movers for the third week in a row :o

This will be the fourth week that 30 Seconds to Mars are at #54 and Usher is at #20!
