August 15, 201014 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp?tod...3280&pages= Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles Australia has loved Eminem and Rihanna's lies to keep their song "Love the Way You Lie" (DL: 1 hold) at the top of the ARIA Singles chart for a fifth week, making it now the equal second longest running No.1 single of 2010, tying with the Owl City track “Fireflies” and a week behind Usher’s six week run with “OMG”. It gives Eminem his equal second longest run at the top, tying with the five weeks “Without Me” accumulated from bouncing back and forth on three occasions in 2002, but is shy of his longest run of 12 weeks for “Lose Yourself” (2002/03). “Love the Way You Lie” has helped move Eminem up into position nineteen on the ‘Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1-Singles’ listing (1940-2010), and Rihanna is now on that list at No.22. Eminem has now amassed 27 weeks at No.1 (one shy of Olivia Newton-John and The Black Eyed Peas), and Rihanna has racked up 25 weeks, just ahead of Dean Martin, and one shy of Al Jolson (1940’s jazz singer, ask your nana). With Eminem and Rihanna again at No.1, this keeps Taio Cruz at No.2 for a second week with his latest single "Dynamite" (DL: 2 hold), which now stays twice as long at No.2 than his previous No.2 single "Break Your Heart" (DL: 25 to 36). He also stays put at No.16 with his other charting single "Dirty Picture" (DL: 16 to 15) for a third week, all of which has helped his album to climb, more on that later. The film 'Step Up 3D' opened in cinemas during the last buying/chart period, and it sees it’s soundtrack shoot into the Top 10 this week, and also the album’s lead single is up three places to a new peak of No.3 this week. That song is "Club Can't Handle Me" (DL: 7 to 3) by Flo Rida featuring David Guetta and it leaps over last weeks highest new entry of "Teenage Dream" (DL: 3 to 4) by Katy Perry which stays put at No.4 this week. Katy's other current Top 10 entrant of "California Gurls" (DL: 6 to 7) also stays stable, and both of these songs might move up the charts next week, as Katy has been in the country pre-promoting her upcoming album which is due at the end of the month. Three other songs also stay put from where they were last week, with "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" (DL: 4 to 5, Phys: 25 to 5) by Usher at No.5, "If I Had You" (DL: 8 to 9, Phys: 5 to 8) by Adam Lambert at No.8 and for a sixth non-consecutive week, Eminem's "Not Afraid" (DL: 11 hold) is at No.10. In between all of those, Enrique Iglesias' "I Like it" (DL: 5 to 6) is down three places to No.6 this week. Back in February Taylor Swift debuted in the Top 10 with the track "Today Was a Fairytale" from the 'Valentine's Day' soundtrack, which re-enters at No.100 this week due to the movie’s recent release on DVD. But this week she again debuts inside the Top 10, coming in at No.9 with her new single "Mine" (DL: 8 debut), the first taste from her third album "Speak Now" (due late October). And with "Mine" debuting inside the Top 10 it instantly becomes her fourth Top 10 single here in Australia, while the track also debuted at No.7 in Canada and No.3 in the US this past week. The other high new entry is the second EP from local dance act Art vs Science, with this new one entitled "Magic Fountain" (DL: 17 debut, Phys: 3 debut), it debuts at No.14 this week. Their first self titled EP finally peaked at No.32 in February this year and at the same time hit No.1 on the physical sales chart, and has spent 39 weeks in the Top 100 and 66 weeks on the physical chart and is sitting at No.6 this week. That peak was helped by the EP's lead track "Parlez Vous Francais?" being voted at No.2 on the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2009. NEW PEAKS: Michael Paynter climbs a few places to land inside the Top 20 at No.19 with his single "Love the Fall" (DL: 31 to 24, Phys: 1 hold). 30 Seconds to Mars jump fourteen places to No.22 to score their second highest charting single with "Closer to the Edge" (DL: 36 to 21). Lady GaGa again jumps up the chart, this time nineteen places to No.24 with her latest song "Dance in the Dark" (DL: 42 to 23). Nickelback climb eight places to No.31 with "This Afternoon" (DL: 39 to 31). Stan Walker makes it three-for-three in the Top 40, as his latest single "Choose You" (DL: 37 debut, Phys: 7 hold) is up twenty-one places to No.33 this week. And also breaking into the Top 50, at No.50 up twenty-three places is Rihanna's new single "Rockstar 101", meaning that she tops-and-tails the Top 50 this week. Debuting at No.29 is the fourth single from Ke$ha's "Animal" (TW-19) album entitled "Take it Off" (DL: 29 debut). It joins her other current charting singles "Your Love is My Drug" (TW-32) and her former No.1 "Tik Tok" (TW-76), and will this new track make it a fourth Top 10 hit in a row for her? Two local DJ's, Tommy Trash and Tom Piper have teamed up on the track "The Bum Song", which debuts at No.40 this week. This is now the second chart entry for Tommy Trash, having reached No.14 in July of 2009 with the track "Need Me to Stay", and this song is another homage to the rear-end but nothing like the classics of "Baby Got Back" or "Rump Shaker", as the guys use the word bum as the melody, kinda like Crazy Frog did!! Linkin Park's fourth album "A Thousand Suns" is due in mid September, and the first single from that album debuts at No.46 this week entitled "The Catalyst". It becomes their 18th charting single here in Australia, and their first since performing the theme from ‘Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” which hit No.3 in July of 2009. The groups entire singles chart history is here… Sing Entry Date (WA)HP WI Titles S1 5-Feb-01 (3) 4 14 One Step Closer S2 30-Apr-01 33 15 Crawling S3 3-Sep-01 87 3 Papercut S4 26-Nov-01 4 19 In the End S5 29-Jul-02 44 12 Points of Authority S6 24-Mar-03 13 16 Somewhere I Belong S7 30-Jun-03 25 15 Faint S8 13-Oct-03 10 21 Numb S9 1-Mar-04 37 10 From the Inside S10 28-Jun-04 23 15 Breaking the Habit S11 13-Dec-04 3 22 JAY-Z and - Numb / Encore S12 14-May-07 (3) 13 52 What I've Done S13 17-Sep-07 (2) 24 20 Bleed it Out S14 3-Dec-07 15 35 Shadow of the Day S15 19-May-08 37 8 BUSTA RHYMES feat - We Made it S16 14-Jul-08 24 12 Leave Out All the Rest S14 20-Oct-08 81 1 Shadow of the Day ® S16 22-Dec-08 97 1 Leave Out All the Rest ® S17 1-Jun-09 3 39 New Divide S18 16-Aug-10 46 1* The Catalyst Below Top 50: 22 Year-old Michigan, U.S. native Mike Posner debuts at No.52 with his first single "Cooler Than Me", taken from his end-of-August due "31 Minutes to Take Off". And not much lower at No.55 is the third single for B.o.B., this time he's teamed up with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo on the dance track "Magic", which debuts at No.55 this week giving him three singles in the Top 100. Three Swedish DJ's called Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso make up the aptly named Swedish House Mafia, who take their third single "One (Your Name)" into the ARIA Singles chart at No.86 this week. The track features Pharrell Williams on vocals, and is currently Top 10 in Belgium, The Netherlands and England. Selena Gomez and the Scene score a second ARIA entry this week as the lead single from their second album "A Year Without Rain" debuts at No.87, it's called "Round and Round". The group hit No.46 in early February with the track “Naturally”. Florence + The Machine debut at No.93 with their new release from this weeks No.3 album "Lungs" entitled "Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)". It joins their other current charting singles "You've Got the Love" (TW-38) and "Dog Days are Over" (TW-99). We say goodbye to the second longest charting single in ARIA's history this week, as "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" by Beyonce leaves the singles chart after 90 weeks. But holding on for a 99th week is Lady GaGa's "Poker Face", which rises a place to No.98 this week. Maybe next week it'll clock up the 100 week mark, but we'll have to wait and see. Albums Eminem reclaims the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart this week as his "Recovery" set returns to the top for a seventh week, now equalling his run at the top with his album “The Eminem Show” (2002). “Recovery” is now the longest running No.1 of 2010, beating the six weeks posted by Susan Boyle at the start of the year, plus Eminem has now racked up twenty weeks at the top of the ARIA Charts, putting him equal twentieth with Mariah Carey on the list for ‘Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1-Albums” (1965-2010). If he stays again next week Eminem will tie with Shania Twain and The Eagles as 21 weeks apiece. With Eminem's return to the top, it pushes last week's new entry for Bliss N' Eso with "Running on Air" down to No.2, and with Washington and their album "I Believe You, Liar" down one place to No.4 and Birds of Tokyo's self-titled third album also down one place to No.5 it makes three of the Top 5 all by local acts. The other act in that sandwich is Florence + The Machine, who climb two places to a new peak of No.3 in their 50th week on the charts with “Lungs”. Mumford & Sons and Angus & Julia Stone both climb back up the Top 10 to No.6 and No.7 respectively, whilst Kylie Minogue's "Aphrodite" is down one place to No.8, and another of last week's debuts, "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire slips down four places to No.10. Jumping up forty-four places to land at No.9 is the newly cinema released film "Step-Up 3D", of which the soundtrack features the current No.3 single for Flo Rida "Club Can't Handle Me" and long-running single for T-Pain, "Take Your Shirt Off" (TW-56, 25th week in Top 100). There is only ONE new entry to the Top 100 this week, which I'll talk about later. But in the country the past week was Slash, and his newly repackaged self-titled album jumps up twenty-eight places to No.15. Also another former tourist who just left the country is 30 Seconds to Mars, who again climb this week, their album "This is War" is up seventeen places to a new peak of No.25. After four weeks bubbling around the lower part of the Top 50 albums, Taio Cruz jumps up this week thirteen places to No.33 with his album "Rokstarr", thanks mostly to it's three currently charting tracks. And with the new release of a Taylor Swift single, it has reignited her former No.2 album "Fearless", which is up fourteen places to No.37. Back in May, INXS released a collection set called "Platinum-Greatest Hits", which was only available as a download album. The physical release occured recently and that has helped the album to jump back into the charts at No.44 this week. And also re-entering at No.50 is Tim McGraw's album "Southern Voice", which originally hit No.96 last November. The highest (and only) new entry for the week comes from Sicilian born but Brisbane, Queensland raised brother and sister duo of Rosario and Anna-Marie La Spina, who are known as just La Spina, and the opera singers score their first chart entry at No.73 with the album "Always You".
