I have liked the new Pipettes stuff, I still think it's better than most female pop out there, but then maybe I give it more of a chance becuase it's the Pipettes? It's still no where near the quality of their debut though and this will probably be the peak for 'Call Me'. I'll still download their album at some point, but I imagine I won't like it enough to actually buy it.

I understand that sentiment, I so desperately want to love it but a lot of the songs on the new album just feel so empty and dated/amateurishly produced. The debut was inspired by older sounds, but did it in a way that it still felt fresh, this album is a bit 80's bandwagon rejects sadly :( The two singles are the best the album has to offer, the rest is filler. Really sad, but at least we got one of pop's great debut albums out of them if nothing else. Had Becky and Rose not left, it almost certainly would not have turned out like this but there are only so many times a band can change personnel without having a massive effect on the music, it's like a completely different act now, they might as well rename themselves.
