Posted August 16, 201014 yr 3 words has been given an IFPI European platinum award - http://www.ifpi.com/content/section_news/plat2010.html This shows sales of more than 1 million across Europe! It was awarded in Q2 which is April-June, when 3 words UK sales were anywhere from 700-820k, so about 150k-300k across the rest of Europe (at least, assuming she's sold 1 million exactly) Edited August 16, 201014 yr by spkx
August 16, 201014 yr it will be shipped rather than sales to the public so she may not yet have sold 1 million copies. But 1 mill shipped is still a great achievement. My mistake it is sales rather than shipped copies like the BPI, well done Cheryl :D
August 16, 201014 yr Amazing news! :cheer: I should really get to work on updating Cheryl's worldwide thread. :kink:
August 17, 201014 yr Well done Cheryl its a great achievment, my only disapointment though is it means that outside the UK it has sold just around 150,000, i had hoped it would have sold a bit more than that outside the UK,of that 150,000 i would love to know how much was sold here in Ireland as the album has done very well here.
August 17, 201014 yr Author Well it depends when it was given the award if it was april 1st then it's more like 250k outside the UK and of course we don't know how far she is over 1 million (it's not going to be much, obviously, but still) but ultimately that's 250k that GA or whatever have never sold outside the UK. I mean the album pretty much flopped everywhere and promotion seems to have stopped completely because of the malaria and everything Plus, in some countries #1 is like a few 1,000 copies, so it's never going to shift huge amounts. I'd say it was pretty promising though for a new/unknown artist with pretty poor material Edited August 17, 201014 yr by spkx
