Most countries it was released half way through the week :)

I'm pretty sure it was released in every country on their normal release day.

I'm unsure on that. It's also due to sales periods. I think Ireland count sales from Friday to Friday, and I their releases are normally on a Friday, but I read somewhere (on BJ I think it was) that BTW got to #1 in Ireland with just four days of sales, so maybe it was released there on Monday? That could all be wrong, but the album should get to #1 in most places, it may just not debut there due to differing release dates and/or sales monitoring periods.

Yes it got to #1 in Ireland within 4 days so it got released on the Monday.

Plus album releases in Japan are on a Wednesday release date (but shops sell them on Tuesday) but for Gaga's album, it became available within Monday so I think most countries have it released on a Monday.

Yeah. She released the album worldwide on the 23rd regardless of usual release dates - she wanted it to be the same for all the "little monsters". I'm not really sure why seeing how she put it online to stream the Wednesday beforehand...

Good going!

Japanese sales are typically extremely front loaded so she can probably expect to do about 400k there all told.

Not really, her The Fame Monster album has sold 480k+ in Japan and yet it didn't debut high in Japan at all.

Gaga is really loved in Japan and will probably have longevity. The only sales in Japan that are frontloaded and then bomb on the chart are idol group sales and the female divas.

Japan 8th day sales = 8,126

I don't know what you're talking about but the great majority of Japanese sales are front-loaded. That's why acts release multiple singles pre-album and then none once the album is out there.

Perhaps The Fame Monster was the exception rather than the rule, I don't know, I didn't track its sales. The fact that this sold 8k on its 8th day suggests it won't do any more than 45k or so this week so evidently sales are extremely front loaded. A -75% decline is far greater than the typical UK or even US second week sales decline.

It's front loaded but will have longevity. If you track the charts enough, you will see idol groups such as JE groups and AKB48 sub-units and female divas such as Ayumi Hamasaki/Kumi Koda to have even worse frontloaded sales compared to Gagas album.

But then again that's the same as in the UK. I mean, the UK the album sold 94k? (I think) first day whereas in Japan it was 48k and yet the end result was 186k vs 215k therefore the album had a more consistent sale compared to the UK.

But yes, the great majority of the releases are frontloaded but people like Avril Lavigne/Lady Gaga make an exception in Japan because they're the 2 most popular western artist there at the moment.

MTV are going a bit over. Just under 500k (483,183) with 68.46% of sales in doesn't look great for over a million, but a lot can change in the finals.
Final HDD number. Soundscan could be a few thousand either side.

So that's not 100% the final number? As the final number can be a few thousand above/below that amount right?

I reckon Gaga can sell 3 million+ this year in the US and claim the #1 yearly album this year :)

The final Soundscan figure is 1,108,000 (to the nearest thousand anyway).
