No problem. I assumed that you don't read the LLAT regularly and I've just read about it and it seems exciting since it's her first performance since the tour. :D

 

 

And yeah she looks powerful! At first it reminded me of an orange in a sack/net-type thing but she actually looks like the hottest star on the planet there.

So with Diana re-releasing her album and leading with a previously unreleased song 'My Wicked Heart', I'm wondering if Diana can get a second number one. It's released on October 24th so I think an XF slot is likely.

 

Anyone know what's released that week? I think Alex's single will be released on November 1st, JLS's single on November 15th, Olly Murs' on November 8th(?) and Joe's on October 11th.

Only approx figures needed, that would allow us to work out if Katy sustains her lead at this level for the rest of the week, just how many more sales than Olly from downloads on iTunes she'll make, and therefore how much Olly needs to be ahead right now to sustain his lead.

What I think I’m saying (although I’m starting to get a bit confused by it all now too) is that:-

 

At the moment, Katy’s lead over Olly equates to the size of the bar @ #16.

 

If a #16 sells approx 17.6k, then if Katy was ahead of Olly on iTunes by her current level for a full week (Sunday->Saturday), she would sell 17.6k more than him.

 

However, we’re part-way through the week and Olly is currently in the lead (by how much, we don’t know!).

 

BUT we can work out to a reasonable degree of estimation the following:-

 

(a) Based on current bars, Katy is selling 17.6k more downloads than Olly per week. We’re now on Wednesday so sales from Sunday Monday and Tuesday need to be excluded from this amount (on a linear basis, this would remove (3/7) or 7.5k of sales from this total so leaving Katy selling 10k more downloads than Olly for the remainder of the week - if someone could dig out that MW report that stated the % sales per day that would give a better estimation);

( b ) Olly’s physical sales need to be taken into account (no idea what these are, could be 10k for week so say 5.7k for Wednesday->Sunday?);

( c ) The difference in sales on other download sites need to be taken into account (assume equal so no adjustment).

 

And we’d then have an idea of how much Katy will gain on Olly from now->Sunday.

 

So based on the above, Katy would sell 10k more downloads than Olly from now till Sunday, but Olly would sell 5.7k physicals from now till Sunday, meaning Katy only gains 4.3k overall which probably won’t be enough to overtake Olly by Sunday.

 

That’s why I think Katy’s lead has to be much bigger (maybe the size of the #7/#8 pop bar on iTunes, or at least 25% more than Olly, perhaps as high as 35%/40%) for the remainder of the week for her to stand a chance.

 

A lot of guesswork – if we had Olly’s current lead and his physical sales for the week to date, we’d be able to work out fairly accurately how far ahead Katy needs to be on average for the rest of the week, to be in a position to overtake by Sunday.
