Shame is really slipping now. It is way behind both #1 and #2 and is in danger of being overtaken by BOTH #4 and #5 despite being heard by millions of people on Live Lounge and Drivetime on Radio 1 and 2 today.

Well I got a surprise today ... we were walking through town and my sister, who can't stand Rob or Gary said 'I really like this song'. You could have knocked me down with a feather!

Thats good to see a non robbie and take that fan liking shame, as i said before its a love or hate song and those of us who love really love it. Looks like shame will have an irish top 5 debut tomorrow which i would be delighted with.

It has slipped to #6 now which is just shocking, especially after being heard by millions of people on Radio 1 and 2 live. Had this been released the day after the HFH performance I think it would have reached #1 but at this stage, 6 weeks of huge airplay people are tired of it by the week of release and it has dropped dramatically during the week. It is still #2 on the official mid weeks - no sales though but if Paul O'Grady performance doesnt have a big impact it will be very lucky to remain at #2.

Shame makes a number 8 debut in Ireland this week.

Surprised it didn't go top 5. Bodies got to #3 with much less radio support heret. I knew from the very beginning Shame was not the type of track that was going to connect with non- fans - it would be hard to relate to the lyrics as they are very much about Rob and Gary's relationship and the song itself is too dreary to have a big impact. It appeal is certainly limited and I fully expect it to drop quickly down the charts and think the radio won't be playing it much now 'The Flood' is on radio.

Enjoyed Robbie & Gary on the Paul O Grady show tonight...Robbie is looking yummilicious as usual B)

It was very lucky to reach #2 IMO. Unlike Bodies last year where it's 90K sales would have been enough to reach #1 most previous weeks, Shame was up and down Itunes like a yo yo and was #1 at one point and as low at #4 at another during the week. Even though I don't like it I am delighted Rob has achieved his 21st Top 5 Hit single and 28th Top 10. Fantastic. If IAOOC is not #1 next week I will explode though :D

I have to admit ... as much as I disliked Bodies ... if someone put a gun to my head and said you MUST listen to either Bodies or Shame 50 times on loop ... I'd choose to listen to Bodies.

And Shame was bloody lucky to get to number 2.

There will be a second explosion here ...I want that album at No 1, it thoroughly deserves it :cheer:

I would be shocked if it doesnt go number 1 myself even though im not a huge fan. I think the only thing that might go against it, his first greatest hits done huge business and he hasnt had such hits since then.

Yeah the first GH has sold near 2.5M in the UK alone and over 8M globally. A massive album. The thing is it is not just the singles since the last one that feature but a further 12 Top 10/ Singles including the Xmas #1 Something Stupid, not to mention several other tracks that were not singles in the UK. So it is much more than just singles since the last one added on, plus of course the #2 Shame (although the album advert claims it was a #1 hit which is odd) and the great new tune 'Heart & I' which is getting some airplay on Radio 2. I know I've said it endlessly now but it is insane that Rob has not done a one-off TV special to celebrate the release of it and his careers anniversary. Had there been one on ITV either last night or tonight after the XF I would be positive of it getting #1 but over 100K especially if other tracks were showcased other than the usual suspects. However considering there is nothing like that and the older tracks he has sung on TV for prom(Feel and Rock DJ) are from the first one - it isnt exactly going to entice people to go out and buy it if they already have the album those tracks are from. The strategy is half arsed as per usual and not thought out properly but he hardly cares at this point - it is all about TT for him now. The thing it has going for it are the different editions and the fact there isnt too much obvious competition apart from this weeks #1 album which ha ssold 85K, however that will surely half by next week. I would love just for once for it to have a clear lead by the first set of midweeks and not have to worry about it selling enough. It tends to get very annoying, especially after RKTVS. <_<

I prefer when the chart race as close as when the act your spporting gets the number 1 on the sunday its far more exciting.

As do I usually but at this stage I am getting a bit sick of Rob just missing #1. The stress of chart battles gets annoying especially for albums. If this is his last album for what could very well but another 3 years (considering he will likely take a break after the TT tour - I bet a TT GH will be released next Xmas) I want him to complete this stage of his career with his 9th #1 album overtaking David Bowie to have the most #1's by a UK male in history. ^_^

Anyway to Quote The MW report with thanks to Mikey.

Pursuing what would have been Barlow’s 14th number one, and Williams’ 13th, Shame sold 72,695 copies to debut at number two.

That is incorrect. They have both had 13 #1's as part of TT and as Solo artists. They discussed this fact in an interview the other day and I did a quick check and Rob featured on 7 of the TT #1's and then had 6 solo #1's. Gary featured on 11 TT #1's and 2 Solo. And you could also add in 'Everybody Hurts' for both and 'Do They Know It's Xmas for Rob technically too :P Anyway decent sales for Shame - around what I expected. It did well to sell so much tbh. I expect a quick drop now though... -_-

I was doing my messages in the Co-op last night. 'Shame' came on over the tannoy. People were singing along and humming away quite happily. I was rather bemused...

I love that! The fact that you shop at the Co-op (me too!) and that you call your shopping 'messages'. I thought that was just a Liverpool thing!

Oh Sparkle has got to read your post! She has been slagging me off for months because I use the word 'messages'.
