Hope you don't mind me butting in here was gauging reaction on the new single when I read this. Thought I hadn't seen Thisispop posting for a while. His input will be missed. :( I agree, being an older member it's sometimes difficult to fit in such a young dominated site.

Well Jark made me feel like a frigging dinosaur so I can't be bothered posting in many other places. The Robbie forum is the best one at the moment ... it seems filled with intelligent people. I think this is definitely an 'ageist' site though ... but then again ... it is a thing for the young. BJ seems more ageist than most other sites I've ever visited though. The best is IMDb - probably because it can cover a huger area than this tiny site ... so old people can fit in 'without being noticed'.

I really miss Rich! I did send a PM asking him to come back - as in the past when someone's sent me a PM ... I get a nofication at my own email address. No response so I'm assuming he's either switched the facility off ... or he just doesn't want to come back ... and I don't blame him.

Yeah TIP was a great contributer to BJ and had a great knowledge across a wide range of subjects. It was always interesting hearing his views on Robbie's music as someone impartial, as he has a great taste in music unlike most people on BJ who think the whole music industry revolves around girl groups who couldnt write a song if their lives depended on it let alone sing one live and in tune.

Anyway I agree the Rob forum here is good for discussion but it used to be brilliant. There used to a large community here but now we only have a handful of regulars left sadly. 4 years ago everyone single thread on the forums first page would be posted in on a daily basis - it was busier than many of the actual fansites tbh. Sadly alot of the diehard fans lost interest along with many casual fans after Rudebox and then the long break. I reckon with more concentration outside the UK and especially a tour to reconnent with fans he wouldve got most of them back on board quite easily but I doubt he cares either way. Rob has never been one to bother much with his fans tbh and has a history of being rude to them - even yesterday on Twitter when asked him why he was going back to TT as he was better on his own he replied something along the lines of "what is it to you?"- highly arrogant and out of touch if you ask me considering if it wasnt for fans in the first place there would be no TT or Robbie the pop star.

Back on Shame though - it is being played a lot on the radio to generally divided opinion. Some saying it is as dull as dish water - others hailing it to be amazing. It still baffells me how many fans are taking the former view - I am completely positive if this was being sung by two lesser stars many of those same people wouldnt give it a second listen and it wouldnt even trouble the top 30 let alone be highly likely to be #1. The lyrics, although some good lines, are overall well below par and not witty or deep enough in parts, and the melody is highly dated and out of touch with music in 2010 - and the actual music is very basic and not interesting enough. Why couldnt they come up with someone more anthemic and 'big' but still a ballad type such as Feel or Rule The World? And is it true that Stuart Price produced this? I know he is doing the TT album but if he produced Shame then I'd be worried if I were a TT fan. It sounds more John Shanks then Price in terms of the MOR-ness of the whole thing.

If I was behind the single ... I'd be a bit concerned that the youtube clips of it have hardly had a 'barrage of interest'. Comments on message boards have been few and far between ... in general ... people are just bored of the whole thing.

Some people have quoted on the Rob and TT sites that this song doesn't have to have a 'wow' factor ... as it is a song illustrating the 'healing process'. However that 'healing process' is of no interest to anyone other than those fans who were fans of Take That Mk1 - and more precisely .... fans of Rob and Gary. I've found from the sites that TT fans are very partial to their own favourite member ... which is why I can see anyone who is a Mark, Jason or Howard fan ... while saying they like it on the site (and they probably do) won't buy the single. I can see the next Take That single (involving all five ... being huge) but this Shame single ... if it gets to number 1 ... it'll be for one week ... and then it'll be given the bum's rush and out of the top 20 like sugar off a shovel.

Such an awful cringeworthy song and crap video! Who cares if it's a parody, it's not even a good one!
Shame is not a track that ' I just have to have ' on my playlist .... cannot see it getting to No 1 unless the RW/TT fans stick their hands in their pockets <_<
I'm sure this will go to number, though it certainly doesn't deserve too. It's already being played to death & an X Factor performance will definitely seal it. It sounds like something Boyzone would serve up. I presume Gary wrote the music & Robbie the lyrics. I'm not a huge Robbie fan , preferring him on cd than watching him live but over the years he has come up with some brilliant lyrics, sadly these are way below par.

The lyrics and the music are a bit dire! And that is a compliment.

It is however, entering European iTunes at the moment on several countries charts - its up to number 12 on (German) iTunes alone - although I'm sure it'll only be a matter of days before it disappears without a trace. I suppose as Rob's name is selling this one ... then this proves that some of his fans will occasionally buy into mediocrity just as much as some of Take That fans do.

Is not on my shoppiong list though & I am a big iTunes downloader ...definately will give this one a miss -_-

I'm still interested to see what the new Take That come up with , I could see Mark & Robbie working really well together, I have heard some of Mark's solo stuff & like it

I don't like any of Mark or Gary's solo stuff (with the exception of Lie To Me). Rob's, as I've said before ... there are a couple of songs I like. I can't see Rob and Mark working any better than Rob and Gary have. Gary and Mark have worked well and Gary and Jason have ... maybe the five together will come up with something decent. If they come up with a selection of songs similar to this crap then all five will have proved that they are just in it for the money ... musical satisfaction cannot be a contributing factor.

Oh I have no doubt that Rob and Mark would be better suited. Gary as I always expected wasnt going to do much else other than a ballad with Rob or something a bit more up-tempo which is apparently what 'Heart and I' is - in reality the type of music Rob loves is a million miles away from Gary's general style. I mean not in a million years will any of the 'out there' and electro/rock type of music Rob has done be anywhere near a TT album. At most they will release more upbeat songs if rumors are true about a dance type of album - it will be possibly more music with a beat instead of soft guitar but there is no way it will be a radical change or too experimental as album sales are all that matter. Mark Owen's solo career from the few singles I have heard (ive always liked 4 Minutes Warning myself) over the years is much more similar to Rob's style in terms of having some sort of an edge to it - they could come up with a good rockier type of song. I always found it odd that they never worked together before as they never exactly fell out and remained mates. Their duet of Rob's rock version of Back For Good at Knebworth was great fun to watch the energy of them both. Gary is however, while not an amazing musician by any means is much better than Rob and Mark but I feel his overall style of songwriting (and voice imo) is very one-dimensional and he can generally only pull off ballads although obviously not in the case of 'Shame'. I think that's why his solo career never took off after the two singles that did well - people expected more and something different but that wasnt his style.

What I am confused about though is to why on earth 'Shame' has been relased on Itunes outside the UK and Ireland 5 weeks before in the release date? A very odd decision but tbh I think the strategy is much better as I think 5 weeks away is way too far away - Shame considering all the hype and huge airplay right now would get to #1 most definatly if released for download next week - surely in 5 weeks everyone and their dog will be sick of hearing it (I already am). It is #3 in Germany and Austria though which is very surprising considering there has been no promo - but obviously being the new Robbie single it has got alot of airplay in the last two days so it is being downloaded. But I can't see it holding on for very long as its the type of track people will tire of very quickly. And you are right Norma - this track has nly got 110K views on youtube in 3 days which is laughable.

Among the many songs Shame reminds me of is a Robbie B-side 'Postcard' that is actually on the B-sides CD on the GH - funnily enough it's one of my least fave Rob songs ever for it's blandness - many things about it remind me of Shame including the delivery.

Btw Shame will have a new B-side titled 'The Queen' - I just so hope it is not another Gary co-write - I need something to look forward to  I am suprised the B-side isnt the unreleased song on the B-side album 'Long Walk Home' seeing as by the title it sounds like something to do with getting back with TT.

Shame is so meh. And the clip is very plain and boring, if not a bit gay.
It's not a bad song, not a bad song at all. The video is Okay-isch, always great to see Robbie the way he looks in there so I'm pleased. The parts were Rob and Gary kinda stare in eachothers eyes make me a bit sick haha. I read the book FEEL

Much better version here! Better music and lyrics that are perhaps a bit 'truer'.

Sorry, am so used to calling you Norma.

That song you posted is indeed better than 'Shame' And as for actual versions of the song itself - I also prefer this remix of it - makes it that bit more exciting. B)

There is apparently a big announced on Heart FM in the morning about Rob and Gary. A live performance on radio perhaps?
