August 28, 201014 yr Nothing amazing, but I do quite like it With the amount of hype I can't see this not getting to number 1 and if they are performing on X Factor it will most likely be on the first live show with Joe.. Another Alex/Robbie situation ? They could possibly stop Joe from getting to number 1, although the song would have been out for a week already Simon doesn't care about chart positions.. having Robbie/Gary will bring even more hype to the show
August 28, 201014 yr The hype over this rather ordinary Single is already huge. According to 'The Sun', a 'Big single', usually gets 200 - 500 plays, on UK Radio, on the day that DJ's are first allowed to play it. 'Shame' got 694 plays on UK Radio, on Day 1, plus 153 further plays on UK TV. Apparently both are 'unprecedented'. Thus we have a Single that is not special at all, getting treated like it is 'Hey Jude', or 'Bohemian Rhapsody', just because of the novelty of Robbie & Gary duetting on it. The actual quality, (or lack of), of the Single has no bearing on the matter. What next? The 1st Single by Take That - since Robbie rejoined - getting hyped like it is 1975, & The Beatles had decided to reform? The thing is - The Beatles were Globally huge - Take That are only huge in the UK & Ireland. Something which the UK Media never, ever grasp.....The morons in the UK Media, fall over themselves to repeat a Myth - that Take That are Globally huge. Robbie's career is on the skids. He needed to rejoin Take That to, 'Be big again'. It bears no relation to reality - at all. But, the UK Press etc., endlessly repeat it. I cannot respect such lazy, ignorant Journalism.....

Who knows! Maybe someone will feel strongly enough to get a facebook campaign going to stop it reaching number 1. Personally ... I couldn't be bothered. Let these two, aged 'hairy and balding at the same time' guys have their number 1. If future efforts are like this ... it will be their last. Kath Edited August 28, 201014 yr by Kathyp
August 28, 201014 yr Frig off! The only time I bought records 'on the basis of being a fan' was in the 70's (ELO) and the 90's (Level 42) - even though ... with those two acts ... history has proven they were bloody good ... despite being given the hard time that Take That have now. Admittedly it did help that those acts could play instruments as well and I suppose were 'real bands' as opposed to purely 'acts'. I've only bought Take That stuff this time because I do (did) like them. Until this .... two fairly passable songwriters coming together and instead of coming up with something memorable ... have come up with a Cliff Richard song. Despite me going off them ... Take That have still provided the best ever concerts I've been to - even better than ELO's Out Of The Blue tour in the 70's. It is sad that ageism raises it's head once again on this 'yoof' site! Kath You completely missed my point. I wasn't referring to your buying habbits (sorry but I couldn't care less about it really), I was pointing out that nowadays fanbases don't make number 1's. Of course some people are more in like with Take That or Robbie or Girls Aloud or whoever, so they are naturally more inclined to buy their singles, but ultimately it is down to a mixture of radio diffusions and hype (and sometimes, quality of the song). And I have no problem with your age, stop desperately playing the "ageism" card to get more attention. I only pointed out your vision of the music industry was a bit archaic, therefore the 50s mention. I couldn't care less about your age whatsoever. And yes I'm a bit harsh, but your behaviour has just been not only disappointing but as well vile and irrespectful to way too many people (including the people who have always been nice to you) because of a game you couldn't see for what it was, a game. August 28, 201014 yr Is the song released outside the UK already ? My itunes insits it it already charting. (Germany has always been extremely sweet to Robbie anyway  ) What if the song is an airplay killer anyway? Of course it doesn't make it 'bohemian rhapsody' at all. Don't treat this like it is something unexpected or alien we always have hyped acts. Lady Gaga just needs to put on a few beer cans (not to mention Subo singing for the pope). I think there is actually something that can be said in defence of the song: it is different to the countless rnb/dance/rap songs that storm the radio! I have to agree with Bert on the fanbase though. Robbie (and TT of course) have a dedicated(?) fanbase. Still some songs outperform the rest and it is not always the best ones. Nowadays promotion and hypes do the trick (it has to do with quality as well).. or does any of you think SuBo suddenly gained millions of worldwide fans  :puke2: :teresa: I don't really believe there could be a campaign against this song. What for? Some people believe this song could be the worst no1 of the year (cool down it is not even close!) others believe it is a masterpiece (they are really few) and others that the <<'still' famous Robbie is dueting with the hugely successful lead singer of TT (begging for forgiveness)>>. Whatever! It is common sense they are all wrong!
August 28, 201014 yr That'd be quite ironic given the song is called 'f*** You'. No chance though, Cee-Lo might go top 10 if he has decent airplay but that's it Really? It has #1 written all over it imo, or at least huge selling overall hit - there's massive hype around the song already and it's over a month until the release :o It could possibly open at #2 if Shame's big enough but that could well do a Kids/Bodies I suppose and up in second place. Cee-Lo might either climb to #1 or just hang around for ages though, it's instantly infectious and like Crazy, not a straightforward 'urban' song, but appealing to a cross spectrum of people. #2 at least for F*ck You I reckon.
August 28, 201014 yr I don't need to hear the song to know that will chart at no 1 :naughty: . We are talking here about THE reunion, the one which will melt all the UK hearts. Everybody loves happy-ends, so even with a crap song, the reunion-story will give them a bust. Not even if George Bush Jr and Osama would be seen eating hamburgers at McDonalds would be as important for the tabloids and broad UK audience as Robbie and Gary smoking the peace pipe... Off topic: As for who is more loved in TT it depends...if we are talking about the hard fans, like those haunting the TT Official site, i would say that is Jason .
August 28, 201014 yr It will make no1 but just as a suggestion, if you are going to start a poll, you should atleast give people the option of saying top 10, top 20 etc even if its highly likely it will do well.
August 29, 201014 yr When they sing "what a shame we never listened, I told you through the television", I start singing "we got a good thing going, a real good thing going, that girl and me." It's a pleasant enough song by them but it's being hyped up as if it were the second coming, #1 but I don't think it'll stick around much if they've wellied the airplay too much.

August 29, 201014 yr I said #2 - this is so awful that not even their combined fanbases will take it to #1 (remember what happened wirh Robbie & Kylie 'Kids'). This is a different story tbh. Firstly, the song was already available on the album. Secondly, Kylie was in the pre-Fever era that time and she didn't have that iconic image she had Fever onwards.
August 29, 201014 yr I'd say either #1 or #2 - because most people who listen to popular music will not like this song, yet mums will buy it in the thousands ;) If it does make #2 then it will be very close
