Christina Aguilera has revealed that she has moved on from her latest album Bionic. The LP - Aguilera's first in four years - peaked at number one in the UK with the lowest opening-week sales for an album ever. It dropped to number 29 the following week. Speaking at a press conference for her new movie Burlesque, she said: "The creative process that involved Bionic is over, I did what I wanted to do and I'm satisfied with it. "If the album sells or if the songs are a hit, I don't care and I don't need to know it, I did my part and I gave 100% while I was doing it, and I'm proud of this work." Discussing the film, she added: "Burlesque was a different process, I'll support this project util the end, but not to find out if it was a box office hit or not - that is not what motivates me. "The creative process is my thing, I'm an artist and once something is over, I look forward for what is next, and I don't look back." Aguilera's new single 'You Lost Me' is out September 20. http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news...c-is-over.html Edited September 9, 201014 yr by Dino-2pacalypse
September 10, 201014 yr I'm a bit confused. It doesn't bother me if she's going to release more singles or not, but she didn't say she's done with this era, did she? To me this sounds more like an answer to the question - "Are you going to re-release Bionic?" Why would she say that before "You lost me" is even released in the UK for instance..... (end of September) Anyway, I liked Bionic a lot. I think it was experimental and had some really good songs on it  It was extremely underappreciated, especiallly having in mind what kind of songs are trending right now.
June 21, 20196 yr I just listened to Bionic today as a whole album in full for the first time in like forever. Been searching and couldn’t find any other threads for the album. One of the most underrated albums of this decade so ahead of its time. The deluxe only second disc songs especially are amazing. With more promo this could’ve easily done as good as Back to Basics.
June 21, 20196 yr I’d have done the campaign like this Single 1: Bionic Promo Single: Desnudate Single 2: Lift Me Up Promo Single: Birds Of Prey (should’ve been on standard version) Single 3: Woohoo (with a full music video) NMT was such a bizarre lead single choice for me. I remember rumours at the time of what the lead single was going to be so many tracks were getting named (some were on the album others made up completely) but not once did Not Myself Tonight get put in the mix. It would’ve been better off being left just as a video only album track. My personal favourites are Birds of Prey, I Am and Little Dreamer which I think the latter was just an iTunes exclusive. This album was what introduced me to Nicki Minaj and Sia too. I’d never heard of Nicki before this album. I wish we got this tour. I remember a rumour of Leona being her opening act too! I’m glad she’s acknowledging this album on her recent shows though. I think it’s among her personal favourites alongside Stripped and Liberation.
June 21, 20196 yr You Lost Me should have been promoted way better and maybe even been the lead single tbh. Such a gem!
June 25, 20196 yr One of the most underrated albums of this decade so ahead of its time. It really wasn't - it sounded like what a lot of artists did somewhere between 2002-06. It has some good tracks, but just because something has a few blips and blops here and there doesn't make it "futuristic". I do think the Lady Gaga comparisons were off though, since The Fame was literally just a Europop record that went global.

That’s just my opinion there’s as many agree with me as do with yourself though. As far as Gaga compassions go though It’s actually closer to ARTPOP in terms of sound I’d say. I know that came like three years after Bionic but it’s more like that than The Fame era. When Bionic came out and she was getting Gaga comparassions I only seen it from a looks perspective rather than a sound one.

The point is, at the time a lot of people pointed out that it sounded about five years too late on the trend and they were right. It sounded like what Goldfrapp, M.I.A. etc were putting out a few years earlier. The only reason why people are starting to say that it was ahead of it's time is ironically because the nostaglia for music from the early-to-mid-noughties is starting to kick in. And yes, I'll take my walker and dentures and leave this thread now... :arrr:
June 25, 20196 yr I do think 'Not Myself Tonight' sounded the most hit-worthy, and I don't think anything else really could have been done to change how the era went for her. I think she was fading out at this point, she'd left it 4 years since her previous album and radio had stopped playing her in that time (like with the GH single in 2008).
June 25, 20196 yr Bionic is an album with way too many tracks. Half of it is very good and half is totally filler, she should have fine picked the best tracks and put out a strong album rather than overdone it. Stripped was just perfection despite being so many tracks, Back to basics was not, again there was too many, but she kinda got away with it due to the theme, by the time Bionic came out though she needed a really strong killer album, not a killer/filler... She also left it way too long, people moved on from her she could have had alot more success if she had struck while the iron was hot.

I think it was too much label interference and no one got the record they wanted. Though, imagine if Christina really did release iamamwhoami's record that actually delivered what she promised ~
