Posted September 18, 201014 yr This week (Well, today in the UK), Madonna's 9th studio album "Music" is ten years old. I could write an essay on this but here's some key stats & points and feel free to share your views on it!. * Madonna collaborated with french electronic producer Mirwais Ahmadzai & three songs with "Ray Of Light's" mastermind William Orbit * The album is mostly upbeat & up tempo songs heading towards European dance music and others had heavy folk elements. * #1 in over 23 countries * 7th UK #1 album with her highest ever first week sales (A record that would later be beaten by Confessions On A Dance Floor) * As of early March 2006 the album sold 1,594,046 * 4th US #1 album her first since 1989's Like A Prayer album with first week sales of over 420,000 * The album sold 4 million copies in it's first ten days of release worldwide * 15 million sales to date * Nominated for five grammy awards & won Best Recording Package * Music, Don't Tell Me & What It Feels Like For A Girl were the singles. American Pie was added as a bonus track on the non north American edition of the album. Impressive Instant was a club promo single. Warner Bros wanted Amazing to be the 4th single from the album and was planned to be released when Madonna was on tour but Madonna didn't like that idea so it ever happened. * Madonna sings French on the track Paradise (Not For Me) & Spanish on Lo Que Siente La Mujer (on the special edition version) * Track Listing - Standard Edition 01. September 18, 201014 yr Wow, i can't believe it was 10 years ago :o I can remember hearing Music the single on the radio as a young 7 year old. I did buy it a while back but never properly listened to it, i lost it :drama:
September 18, 201014 yr Author You should pick it up again sometime!. I remember the day it was like yesterday. I saved up the money for the album (because I was only 15 then). I got the album on it's day of release from Woolworth's as if you brought "Music" you could buy "The Immaculate Collection" for £4.99. I got that too as I only had the immaculate collection on cassette back then. But it doesn't really seem like ten years ago.
September 18, 201014 yr Ah, Woolworths  I miss that shop so much, especially at Christmas. I will be sure to pick it up soon :D
September 18, 201014 yr Author Yeah, Woolworth's was really cool I used to get some really good music bargains.
September 18, 201014 yr so did I. Plus our one was near the exit of the shopping centre so i could nip in, get what I wanted and leave without getting into big crowds  I bought Hard Candy in mine, but i lost that one too :(
September 18, 201014 yr Mine never has it :( They always have Celebration and the live CD. Once in a blue moon you get an album like Like A Prayer or GHV2.
September 18, 201014 yr This album was all about the likes of 'Impressive Instant' and 'Runaway Lover' for me. That was the real meat and bones of this album. The singles weren't all that, although the video remix of 'What It Feels Like For A Girl' was pretty ace.
September 18, 201014 yr Author Yeah, I really wanted those 2 songs or one of them to be released as a single.
September 18, 201014 yr Author My local hmv stocks about 60% of her albums but if there are 2 of the same album they both usually have different prices.
September 19, 201014 yr I remember listening to it in a club for the first time, it was pure magic. A dancefloor classic was born. On another note, nice to see Madonna in the Guinness book of records 2011 as the "Biggest selling female recording artist with 75 million US album sales and 200 million album sales abroad" Edited September 19, 201014 yr by jules25
September 19, 201014 yr Author Madonna performed the song Music the most more than any other of her songs in the last decade 2000-2010. The song made every tour setlist & other events such as the 2001 grammy awards & the 2000 mtv european music awards.
September 20, 201014 yr I didn't see it in HMV yesterday :( They had Hard Candy (16 quid :o) and Confessions for a tenner :drama: Sort out your prices. EDIT: It was however, £4 in Tesco :D I bought it today  Edited September 20, 201014 yr by Regina Flowers
September 20, 201014 yr Author Yeah that's how much they are at mine too but clearly no one is going to buy them for that. Clearly it's cheaper to buy them from Amazon or play.com's website.
