'Shame' is definitely a Marmite song - you'll either love it or like it. Robbie Williams did get to no. 2 in my chart last Xmas with 'You Know Me' and this is Robbie's first ever #1 hit for me. Second for Gary Barlow following 'Patience' by Take That in 2006.

Yes it has. 'Dancing On My Own' peaked at #8 for me but it got boring quickly. 'Hang With Me' however just appealed to me much more when I first heard it. It's disappointing that this song isn't even going to be top 75 tomorrow considering 'DOMO' made the top 10.

Pepper & Piano have made a name for themselves after auditioning on Must Be The Music - Sky1's alternative to The X Factor. Think Fame Academy but with Jamie Cullem, Sharleen Spiteri and Dizzee Rascal as the judges. Unlike The X Factor, MBTM encourages their acts to write their own material and has given the finalists the platform to perform live at Wembley Stadium. The live final being tomorrow night at 19:00pm on Sky1[/shamelessplug] :D

I'd discovered this song through following other countries singles charts. 'Clap Your Hands' is a gem that deserved its fortnight at no. 1 in my chart.

 

This is okay but nowhere near as good as his last one.

 

This is my fave Example song and becomes his highest charting too. 'Kickstarts' was alright but iirc was just released at a time when my top 10 was really strong and ended up peaking at #12.

This is a decent track, imo, which did take sevral listens to the track to click with me. It's still nowhere near the standard 'A Design For Life' set although 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' from 2007 was wub. ^_^

I thought that the first time I heard 'LTWYL'. It's Eminem's most successful single in my chart since 'Like Toy Soldiers' in 2005. I find it astonishing that this track looks set to become the UK's biggest selling single (YTD) despite never getting to no. 1 during its time on the UK chart.

'Shame' seems to be a Marmite song but I personally think it's a great song. Sometimes it's difficult to explain what it is that makes you like a song. In this case, I like the song lyrically but musically it's got a pleasant melody. It charted early because I just didn't see the point keeping it no. 1 in my Pre-Release chart for another two weeks so it got promoted today. :lol:

Yeah, I do like this but people seem to be over Maroon 5 - I don't think it matters what they released as their new single, it was always looking likely to just be a small(ish) hit. This seems to be the problem these days with artists who release extremely successful debut albums. They have a lot to live up to with album #2 and if it falls short, people straight away lose interest.

I think 'Shame' gets a bit too much stick. :o It's a great song both musically and lyrically and I still think would be a good UK #1 (although for 2010 there's little competition).

This is another case of a song growing on me after the initial first play. Their Jools Holland performance was very good and boosted my interest in the song.

I know, where is the Buzzjack love for 'Gold Dust'? :lol: It's still one of my fave songs around hence why it hasn't dropped down as much as other songs. Whilst it's not listed in your faves, Emma's Imagination (winner of Must Be The Music) is looking set to get a massive boost for her single 'This Day' which this week plummeted 22-38. 10 (05) McFly - Party Girl (05-10) [2 wks] Hope the album is as good if not better than this single suggests!

 

It would seem a bit odd if 'Party Girl' was a complete one off and the rest of the album was their usual style. Can't see their new album doing incredibly well regardless of whether they've changed their musical direction or not.

Not dropping too badly - still see this occasionally on Clubland TV which is where I first heard this song. Had it not been for your chart, this would've slipped through the net. :D

 

30 (20) Linkin Park - The Catalyst (20-30) [2 wks] Far from their best - I really wanted a Greatest Hits from them this year

 

I quite like the electronic sound in this song - again, sounds very unlike Linkin Park (ie; how McFly and The Hoosiers seem to have gone). Hmm, I really wanted a big Linkin Park fan in their early days - most of their songs all sounded the same. They also seemed to use the similar lyrics in most of their songs which used to irritate me. :lol: I've since grown to appreciate them more.

 

33 (21) Groove Armada feat. Will Young - History (12-21-33) [3 wks] This is waiting to chart for me, it's something I should love in theory, but I just can't get into it properly :(

 

This was the makings of a great pop/dance crossover hit imo. What lets the song down for me is the overuse of echo on Will Young's vocals. Otherwise it's a very good song.

 

38 (22) Emma's Imagination - This Day (22-38) [2 wks] Nice song! happy she won!

 

Me too, there was no competition imo and would've been gutted had Missing Andy or moreso The Pictures won. Why? Missing Andy's song didn't quite grab my attention. As for The Pictures, not sure which track they were performing in the second show but I couldn't understand a word he was singing - the only bits that I could understand was "come on" when he randomly starting shouting to the audience. Major flaw imo was that he did the whole "come on" far too much. He's not Robbie Williams. :kink:

 

You also said you recorded MBTM on Sky+. Watch Emma's final performance of 'That Day' after she wins. Comedy genius. :lol: Best potential #1 in your chart since 'Pie Jesu' by Dogface. Of course you could still chart the original version at #2. :P

21 - I knew about them a couple of years back through the music journalism I used to do, so heard this song via their Facebook iirc. I really hope to hear more stuff from them in the future!

30 - I've enjoyed many of the hits. They've slipped in quality a bit in recent years though. New Divide is the only truly great song since the Meteora era imo.
