September 20, 201014 yr Author Incorrect. He's only writing the song, which we can expect to be better than last year's which ever way you cut it. For me, this song is catchy as hell, and greatly exceeds by expectations. But it's annoying to see, once again, Syco push their alumni down a route that is already chock-full of more successful artists - it's like he won't let Joe, Olly, Leon, Alexandra et al be themselves for fear of not selling well. Instead he makes them into other artists that he thinks are about over. Oh HELL TO THE NO. You DO NOT play around with Mika. He writes songs about sluts and calls them funny names so people think they're actually singing a little nursery rhyme-esque songs but actually you're being VERY RUDE, ITE? Go Mika
September 20, 201014 yr MY EXACT FEELINGS ON THE MATTER as neatly summed up in one emoticon by Tirren there.
September 20, 201014 yr Author Glad to see you support my revolt. Your post was the equivalent of a schizophrenic breakdown.
September 20, 201014 yr Except most people actually knew the original with Run... True, but I guarantee you the fact that this is a cover will not be kept quiet. It's exactly what the Joe-haters wanted, so they'll go on about it as much as possible.

I think you're overestimating the impact here. People aren't going to not buy it just because it's a cover of a song they likely won't have heard of before. Leon had loads of haters but they didn't seem to go on about how Don't Call This Love was a cover - ditto Shayne Ward with No Promises.
September 20, 201014 yr I'm a little bit concerned at the prospect of Mika going to ESC seeing as he defines 2007, although he did write that recent Boyzone hit which is still in my YTD top ten () but I have no idea how that sort of song would have gone down at ESC. And I think he's more likely to do send the aformentioned 'risque nursery rhyme' type song to the ESC, depending on who's performing it. Something like Happy Ending however, is surely timeless and unlike Grace Kelly, Love Today, We Are Golden and Rain does not define 2007 - so I'd like him to go down that route for it - otherwise it's just going to end up like Neo's Human Frontier, and that would have been a guaranteed ESC flop had it won Melodifestivalen. 3 years out of date, even if I did love the song. Back to Joe, he could be good for ESC but we all know it's a curse/career killer or non-starter for UK acts so he won't go to those lengths until at least 2012...

Well, Lena playing Kate Nash (who also defined 2007) didn't do too badly either, did it? I do hope we get a Happy Ending though, truly wonderful track...
September 20, 201014 yr Well, Lena playing Kate Nash (who also defined 2007) didn't do too badly either, did it? I do hope we get a Happy Ending though, truly wonderful track... True. I guess 'Eurovision contemporary' will always be about 2 or 3 years behind, seeing as the songs are generally probably written two years or 18 months beforehand and submitted a year beforehand. Which makes it all the more bizarre that Maria H-S managed to tap perfectly into the soul pop sound of 2008, was she (or rather the songwriter Mira) a psychic? I'm currently LOVING living with German housemates by the way. They both have her album, although I had to agree with one of them 'yes, popular she is very - Satellite is very good and we are proud of her here and her success - her new single Touch A New Day, is, really not very good though'. Apparently they didn't know she was returning to ESC for them next year! Yes indeed, that and My Interpretation are the only Mika songs I still regularly play. I do love Grace Kelly still but it's still on the radio so much that I really don't need to listen to it of my own accord.
September 21, 201014 yr I love this song now! He sounds like a female vocalist for most of it... i think he'll find it very hard to sing live... best X factor lead single by far tho... and i didn't care for joe, he's still got a boring image/ doesnt seem like a popstar tho.
September 21, 201014 yr Your post was the equivalent of a schizophrenic breakdown. Really? I hadn't noticed. So glad you're here to tell me about myself. Maybe it's just me not trying to be boring, but hey.
September 21, 201014 yr Author Really? I hadn't noticed. So glad you're here to tell me about myself. Maybe it's just me not trying to be boring, but hey. There's a difference between not trying to be boring and suddenly randomly changing tack about twice in one post and going on a seemingly unprovoked rant defending Mika.
September 21, 201014 yr It's actually rather good, and I wouldn't have had a clue that it was a cover..
September 21, 201014 yr There's a difference between not trying to be boring and suddenly randomly changing tack about twice in one post and going on a seemingly unprovoked rant defending Mika. I know, but I just wanted to have a go at Syco for moulding Joe into this Mika/Jake Shears hybrid without the song-writing ability or sex appeal. Just because Joe is gay does not mean he has to make music that wouldn't sound out of place on a Glee album.

September 21, 201014 yr Mika's possibly the most sexless person I've ever come across! I don't think you would have been the first to come across him though :kink: Jake is alright, but nothing on Babydaddy - WOOF  Mika always reminds me of this legend from Eurovision 2008: -YVmlE3QTfU No idea why. Probably the name...
September 22, 201014 yr I've listened to this song 4 times now and I still can't remeber anything at all. Not a lyric, not even melody. The only thing I rememberis his ear-raping falsettos. But overall, the song is quite good and nothing like I would expect him to do. Shame that it's relatively not catchy for me.
