OH MY tonight's episode was beyond brilliant. Tamwar and Afia are hilarious (she's scary as sin though), Max was on TOP form, Vanessa was a cold BITCH (YAY) and Shirley continued to be fabulous - note how entirely unfazed she was by Billy walking in on them.

I loved the eastenders and coronation street combination on cin tonight, the charactors didnt look out of place of neither soap i have to say, i loved how excited helen worth was about visiting albert square, the liz and kat stuff was brilliant.

There's been lots of discussion about Peter Beale's EastEnders future on our forum over the past couple of days amid suggestions that the character has been written out of the soap.

Thomas Law - who has played the role since 2006 - recently filmed some scenes which will see Ian Beale's eldest son leave Albert Square and he is now preparing to make his stage debut in a production of Peter Pan at The Lowry in Salford.

A Walford source told DS today: "Peter Beale will be leaving screens towards the end of the year, but a return for the character hasn't been ruled out for 2011."

The insider added: "As with Ian's wayward daughter Lucy, Peter is a character who could arrive back in the Square in the future depending on storylines."

Plot details surrounding Peter's forthcoming departure are currently being kept under wraps.

^DS Article. It seems quite an odd one, theres nothing unusual about an actor leaving to do panto for a bit but the fact that a return isnt confirmed definatly gives the impression the ball isnt in Thomas Law's corner. I had no idea there were no actual plans for a Lucy return either.

Lucy only left in order to recast her.

I'm gutted about a Peter exit and not because I think he's HOT in a "if I was 5 years younger" sort of way. I genuinely like him.

Lord, it's not a good time to be a teen actor on the show is it? I wonder if they realised he couldn't compete with new Lucy in the acting stakes and got rid or if he genuinely wanted out (out of loyalty to Melissa Suffield maybe?). Interesting.

WONDERFUL NEWS

Jean Slater's departure is only going to be a temporary one! She leaves with Stacey at the end of the year, but will be back in the spring.

I read that on DS earlier. Brilliant news! Every time I see a scene with her I genuinely feel gutted that she's set to leave.

Looks like Bryan Kirkwood really is a follower of the forums and somebody who wants to give the fans what they want.

Maybe this means a SHARON COMEBACK one day soon. That's my ultimate EastEnders wet dream.

I was thinking about that; in terms of future likely comebacks, Sharon's always at the top of the list, even if personally I found her to be a moaning old bore.

But then do they need her anymore, Ronnie Mitchell's pretty much got that role in the show sewn up hasn't she?

I love to see Michelle Fowler come back to the square, she probably bring her family in tow, that would make my day.
That's pretty much never going to happen. Susan Tully completely gave up acting a long time ago, and with no Fowler links left on the Square, there'd be no point whatsoever in upsetting the older audience with a recast.

Sharon is indeed the original EastEnd tragic heroine so there's no need for her whilst Ronnie's about but as soon as she leaves (which hopefully won't be for years) Sharon needs to come back with her heaving bust and her whispy tones.

Id love sharon to come back but at the moment im not sure it is the right time. A question about thursday nights episode are we left to assume Phil and Glenda slept together?
