That was a really amazing episode. I cried at one point during the Kat and Jean scenes. Kat is my favourite female on the square and Jean is my third- or fourth- favourite (alongside Shirley and Janine). Seeing Kat open up to Jean like that was really heartwarming. V glad she and Alfie are back on track too.

Ronnie was the standout for me in that episode she really is a brilliant actress be a shame when she goes  I think Kat is way to horrible to Alfie noone would put up with the sh*t she throws @ him.Alfie is a grade-a doormat. The new moon guy Alfie's greasy cousin I think god the way he poses he aint all that infact he mings :puke2:
Are you for real?

Yeah x 1000,000. Are you?

I prefer Eastenders with Jean in it.

I'm another one on the Kat/Jean bandwagon. They make for a wonderful duo, one that I think could quite easily rival the Stacey/Jean relationship. In fact I think I may actually like it more, for Kat seems to genuinely appreciate having Jean around rather than feeling obligated to look after her - it allows Jean to be much more than just the crazy old lady with the screechy voice. It's bringing out a PROPERLY maternal side to her, and Gillian Wright still has the ability to light up the most banal of scenes/conversations - who else but Jean could go into absolute raptures over cereal variety boxes?

IKm just catching up on eastenders, the scenes with jean and kat were bloody fantastic and i really felt for kat, it was like it was real, more of these 2 together.
Hurrah for Aunt Sal! I'm glad that Peggy's departure hasn't been the end of her random appearances (although I'm a little surprised - Sal isn't actually related to Ronnie or Roxy is she?)

No, she's Peggy's sister and nothing (in blood terms) to the girls.

Even with Sal it was a pretty boring episode coming after two really good ones. You can tell they're still an episode ahead and that this should've aired on Monday.

True. Beyond Sal the only thing that really kept my interest vaguely was the continuing Tanya/Syed double-act who work bizarrely well together. Syed certainly is much less of a happiness VACUUM when he's around her rather than Christian.

Why are they an episode ahead again?

I think the Sal link is just BIZARRE tbh, and one of those things which makes you realise Eastenders is completely devoid of any realism (now that the Jackson/Branning clan ACTUALLY talk, I'd found the familial ties on the show a bit more realistic of late.) I can't say I even know who the sister of my aunt (by marriage) is. That said, of course she always lights up the screen so I'm not complaining too much.

I'm also enjoying Sal's presence on the show still. And we got to see her house! Oh they're just spoiling us. It is of course rather ridicolous that Ronnie would go to her but I can forgive this if we get to hear Sal constantly insult Roxie more often.

I still find Greg a complete wet fish of a character though, complete blandofest. Rather liking Syed/Tanya together too though, two characters who were really beginning to grate together works suprisingly well. Jack continues to annoy me profoundly.

I really don't mind Jack now you know. I don't know if it's the presence of Michael or what (speaking of which Michael's deep maroon trenchcoat is LOVELY) that makes Jack seem tolerable by comparison but I was thinking only tonight that I probably prefer Jack to the likes of Masood nowadays. He's begun to really bug me. When Syed first came on the scene Masood became a really layered and interesting character but now all he ever does is hold grudges against a variety of people (mostly his own family). It's very tiresome.

I agree abouy syed, i think the writers are struggling to write for him at the moment so he will get a few dodgy light weight storylines for now i think.

I reckon Tam and Afia basically just got married early so that they could do the sexy.

I'm really loving Afia lately. Definitely one to watch.

I'm surprised Tamwar and Afia actually went through with it and rushed the wedding through like that. After all that's gone on, Masood accusing Afia of being with other guys seems a rather silly thing to push them into marrying early.

GOOD LORD what a FABULOUS episode. Tam miming along to Jay Z's Crazy In Love adlibs, Janine's fabulous evil manipulative granny, Heather being dealt yet another dose of rejection by life and a huge dramatic stunt complete with signposting by dust. Amazing!

John Bardon (Jim) has filmed what is apparantly his final scenes, after Dot decides to put him into a nursing home, which is rather sad, as despite him not being in the soap much since watching it, he's always been a prominent character.

Nice to see the brilliant Margaret Tyzack - and I do like Tamwar ... but I'm not sure Jark if you're just joking with the capitalised fabulous? The episode was just 'ok'. And the 'stunt' at the end was a bit pants.

Yes I've read it again and it is clear you're joking.

Kath

I wasn't joking! It really was fabulous. Just one of those episodes that felt like an 'event' and one where storylines progressed rather than going in circular motion with lots of humour to boot.
