Posted September 27, 201014 yr http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0a/Dimmu_Borgir_Abrahadabra_album_cover.jpg This album is absolutely perfect. It has the amazing symphonic sound but has also got a very heaqvy feel to it. Shagrath was right, it is definately their most epic album to date, and I would definately reccomend it to anyone! Playlist: 1 - Xibir - 2:50 (A Very Symphonic Intro and definately sets the mood) 2 - Born Treacherous - 5:02 (My 2nd Favourite Song Off The Album, A Very Strong Blend Of Symphony and Heaviness) 3 - Gateways - 5:10 (First Single Off The Album, And Definately Got Me Excited For The Release!) 4 - Chess With The Abyss - 4:08 (One Of The Less Symphonic Songs, But Is Still Very Outstanding) 5 - Dimmu Borgir - 5:35 (My Favourite From This Album, And Possibly My Fave Dimmu Borgir One Ever) 6 - Ritualist - 5:13 (Definately One Of The Heaviest Songs On The Album, But Still Has An Orchestral Feel To It) 7 - The Demurge Molecule - 5:29 (I Would Say This Is The Strongest Song Off The Album In Terms Of Heaviness) 8 - A Jewel Traced Through Coal - 5:16 (The Drums In This Song Are Just Perfect) 9 - Renewal - 4:11 (I Love The Heavy Intro, And It Keeps Up To The Intro Throughout The Song) 10 - Endings and Continuations - 5:58 (The Perfect Way To End The Album) People said that new Dimmu Borgir was awful and they have changed too much. Yes, it is different. But as a fan of Dimmu's for a good 7 years I must admit, this is my favourite album and I hope they keep this style in any future releases! A good 10/10 album, well done Dimmu Borgir. _jw7yk8hm_0
September 27, 201014 yr 'Gateways' is a great track. However, I don't think I'll listen to the album especially when I only liked some of their tracks. Edited September 27, 201014 yr by FM11
September 27, 201014 yr Author Defiately, lots of people u know have said they went downhill. I disagree!
October 26, 201014 yr As far as I'm concerned this is Dimmu Borgir's most ambitious record yet, I think they've been building up to this since "Puritannical Euphoric Misanthropia", in fact, it's probably the best Metal record of the year. Period.... They absolutely p*** on fake "Hammer Horror" Black Metal like Cradle of Sh!te, and frankly, I think this is a better record than anything Emperor or Darkthrone ever did... OOooooooooh, controversy..... I expect all the Odinist Black Metallers to flame me for that one...... :P
October 26, 201014 yr Cradle Of Filth has defo gone not great, yeah. LOL But it doesn't change the fact that I do love a bit of 'Nymphetamine' and 'Thornography' (for being somewhat incredibly catchy). Their last one (Godspeed On whatever) was a bit of a borefest. Hahaha! I think I'm not even looking forward to the follow-up even if I do like a bit of their new single. To be fair, the only album I've heard from Dimmu was 'In Sorte Diaboli'.

The past four Dimmu albums have been great ("Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia", "Death Cult Armageddon" and "In Sorte Diaboli", and now of course, this one), really pushing genre envelopes in terms of sound and production, their early stuff just sounds like a joke tbh, really childish and amateurish... But you'll still get the blinkered Black Metallers who think that a Black Metal band that opts for decent production values (ie, not sounding like it was recorded in a tin can) and majestic, sweeping musical flourishes and manages to sell more than 300 records are "selling out"....

Not many people would agree with us that it is one of Dimmu's better albums (assuming that's what you mean) Cradle Of Filth has defo gone not great, yeah. Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder wasn't too bad. I see what you mean about it being a borefest. But I have to admit, I loved Shat Out Of Hell. Also, have you heard CoF's new single "Forgive Me Father (I Have Sinned)" It's surprisingly good. Although I would have to say, they have drifted from their black metal routes and are now more into the power/extreme/horror metal The past four Dimmu albums have been great ("Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia", "Death Cult Armageddon" and "In Sorte Diaboli", and now of course, this one), really pushing genre envelopes in terms of sound and production, their early stuff just sounds like a joke tbh, really childish and amateurish... I couldn't agree more. As much as I like some of the "Tin Can" stuff, it has nothing on songs with good production levels.
October 27, 201014 yr I couldn't agree more. As much as I like some of the "Tin Can" stuff, it has nothing on songs with good production levels. I find it really hard to listen to the likes of Darkthrone because of the awful production... Which is a shame, because, having seen them live, I know how good a lot of these songs actually are... Black Metal demands high production values, simple as... I have to ask, are you actually Norwegian...?
October 28, 201014 yr Nope, Northern Irish :) But Norway is the best for it's Black Metal. :) Ahh, but dont forget that it was a bunch of Geordies called Venom that kicked it all off in 1982, with the "Black Metal" album..... And then Swiss band, Celtic Frost's, seminal, genre-defining "Morbid Tales" came along in 1984.... ;)
October 28, 201014 yr Author Lets not forget Hellhammer and Sarcofago. IMO, your not REAL black metal until you have covered Venoms "Black Metal"with CoF being an exception, due to the fact they're not black metal regardless. Can someone explain to me: I find it hard to tell whether Vader are Black or Death. I know it's random, but it's bugging me now :P
October 28, 201014 yr Can someone explain to me: I find it hard to tell whether Vader are Black or Death. I know it's random, but it's bugging me now :P Vader and Behemoth, and a few others, are kinda a bit of both, awkward buggers...
October 28, 201014 yr Author Ahh, Blackened Death Metal. I also like Hate :D Oh, btw, Let's all pray Nergal survives :(
November 19, 201014 yr I think I'm not even looking forward to the follow-up even if I do like a bit of their new single.
November 19, 201014 yr As much as I like some of the "Tin Can" stuff, it has nothing on songs with good production levels.
December 1, 201014 yr Author That is true, but I do find that sometimes the "Tin Can" sound gives it more atmosphere.
December 1, 201014 yr That is true, but I do find that sometimes the "Tin Can" sound gives it more atmosphere. I dont agree tbh. To me it just says - "We cant be arsed producing our albums properly, and don't even know how to use a mixing desk..."
