Oh dear! Well it is The Sun after all! But if he couldn't be arsed with his solo work ... I'd be a bit concerned that he isn't going to put in the effort with Take That. Maybe he's just doing it for a lark. I find it odd though (and yes ... I'm typing this knowing ... its The Sun) just before it was released ... he was saying RKTVS was a 'killer' album ... and now in hindsight he's saying he really couldn't be arsed at the time. Well he's saying this TT album is great? Are we to believe that?

He really is, as Steve Martin would say, 'one crazy, mixed up guy!'

Kath, those quotes are from his interview with Popjustice, which I have made a separate thread for. I am not surprised whatsoever about his comments about RKTVS. From the very beginning the promo was half arsed from Rob. A good 90% of the time in interviews he spent discussing TT, Ayda - he even spent more time discussing dogs than the album. There was very little discussion about the actual music, whereas with his previous albums he would harp on and on how it was his best album yet and talk lots about the music. He said in the interview with Neil Fox a few weeks ago that he loves RKTVS and is very proud of it but resents that he had to make such a commercial album when he really wanted to release another experimental record like Rudebox. As he explains in the PJ interview - when Rudebox happened with the backlash he was annoyed that the public said "No", so he felt he could not be arsed doing an album of what people did want. I love RKTVS but it was always obvious from the start he would rather have been somewhere else. At that stage he had already written the TT album with the lads so he had already moved on yet he had months of promo for an album containing many songs he had written years previously. Rob always gets bored very quickly and starts thinking about the next project.

I am not surprised by his comments about wanting to retire early. He has achieved everything he possibly could and has nothing to prove, which is prob why he wants to go play with his mates as he says. But considering how TT's music is as commercial as it gets, by the time the tour is over I bet he will have a desire to release his own stuff again. Prob not straight away - he will take a break no doubt again but I certainly don't think he will never make another solo album of original songs.

I just think an official break from music altogether ... then come back in a few years totally refreshed solo would have done him better. I think he's getting really carried away with being best mates again ... he's enjoying the fooling around they're having at the moment and no doubt they had a ball making the album - whether we'll have a ball listening to it may be another kettle of fish. However the real test is going to be the tour ... both the three months of solid reheasal for it and then the performances themselves. I just can't see it working ... I really can't. There will be some serious cabin fever going on and I can see it ending in one almighty explosion again.

And of course ... Gary will get the blame!

I agree. Rob is loving it now, doing interviews and singing one or two tracks but he hates touring with a passion and if 50 dates is true than that is nearly as long as his 06 Tour. Granted it will be far less stressful for him as the entire show won't be on his shoulders like his solo gigs are - it will be a lot of fun being with the lads again I am sure but with that many dates there is the risk he will get bored and start to dread so many dates (and all the heard work). Hopefully not, but that would be a long tour and he might lose interest after the first 20 shows of doing the same show.

I don't think he should take another break. He had already taken 3yrs to refresh himself. I do think though as his managers David and Tim have said, the TT reunion he made him passionate about writing again and he has his competitive boots back on which were not there with RKTVS and the promo - plus he has become far more confident compared to last year and much more relaxed in interviews etc so in that sense it is already a good thing and hopefully him gaining those things back will result in him being arsed to release solo albums again and be excited about the whole process like he used to be.

You're probably more likely to blame Gary for any problems than most Rob fans are these days. :P

Well maybe he's building up more angst for his solo recording work and some comic material to insert into the quieter moments in his own concerts .. you know ... the bits where he talks to the audience and takes the p*** out of them again!

You're right ... if it all does go Tits Up and Take Down for Take That ... there will be only one person to blame in my mind ... and that is Gary Barlow. If it goes swimmingly however, and is a raging success, and the album is brilliant ... I will of course ... take my hat off to him (Gary!)

Yeah he could do with coming up with some new jokes for the gigs. He has been using that one about certain songs 'used to be his Aunts fave song' and how she is not dead it just isnt her fave song anymore. He changed it a bit recently I think - something about her looking down on him but not being dead just very patronising  He loves that one

According to a fan on the OS who was at the gig in London last night - he was chatting about the XF and sang some of 'Mad World'. When he asked what the crowd thought of Cher - everyone booed

TAKE FAT AS ROBBIE MUSCLES IN

The Sun

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has been training four hours a day for four months to turn his keg into a six-pack.

The singer was determined to get into shape and not look like the token fat lad when he lines up alongside his old TAKE THAT bandmates.

He's been working with trainer NICKY HOLENDER, the man who helped whip MEL B into shape.

Nicky said: "He's gone from being overweight and not looking so good to being an athlete. He's worked his a*** off."

The former footie pro puts Robbie through his paces five days a week and went on holiday with him to continue their regime.

He has even managed to persuade Robbie to cut down on chocolate.

Nicky said: "He has become very careful about what he eats and in four months he now has a full six-pack going on.

"All I'm doing is getting him to eat well and then he can have his sweet stuff on his cheat days. He has so much muscle."

Nicky, an ex-Peterborough United and LA Galaxy footballer, is now turning his attention to wiping out Robbie's other major vice - smoking.

He said: "It's the best thing he could do for his body. He's come such a long way now and done so well that quitting the fags would be the biggest goal."

That will be tough - Robbie smokes like a chimney.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS: HOW TAKE THAT WILL KICK JLS' CUTT

The Star

15th October 2010

ABOVE: Robbie Williams will get naked

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has a surefire way to ensure Take That’s reunion album Progress beats JLS to No 1 next month – getting naked.

The manband’s infamous debut single Do What U Like saw them flash their bums and get smeared with jelly in 1991.

And now, as he heads to No 1 with his In And Out Of Consciousness: The Greatest Hits 1990-2010 package, the buff singer is feeling confident about kicking some butt.

“If all else fails, nakedness in Trafalgar Square,” he grins when we meet up before an exclusive gig for Magic 105.4 at London’s swish Supperclub in Notting Hill.

“We might have to get our arses out again. It’s going to be an interesting week. JLS are great. When my last album came out and I was No 2 and they were No 1, I gave them a bell and congratulated them. So if the reverse happens, they have my number now...”

Looking fitter than ever, Robbie’s pulling out the big guns.

He’s happy, handsome and revelling in his hits.

This intimate Magic Presents Robbie Williams gig with Barclaycard Unwind was probably his last solo performance in a while as he focuses on the group, whose new single The Flood got its video premiere this morning at 7.50am on ITV1’s Daybreak. Lucky competition winners got to hear Robbie sing a section from the brilliant song at the gig, where he confirmed Take That are planning a 2011 tour he’s “not supposed to mention”.

“It’s another chapter, a new chapter and the perfect ending – it’s a happy ending,” says Robbie about settling his differences with his old chums Gary Barlow, 39, Mark Owen, 38, Jason Orange, 40, and Howard Donald, 42.

When Gary joined Robbie to sing their duet Shame on Wednesday night, it was clear they were having the time of their lives larking around, and the Take That tour is going to be the must-have ticket for next summer. Looking back on his solo material, the double CD release this week proves there’s more to Robbie than Angels.

Feel and Supreme still sound as fresh as the day they first came out and while some didn’t get what Robbie, 36, was trying to achieve on his Rudebox album, tracks like She’s Madonna with the Pet Shop Boys paved the way for a lot of the electro pop in the charts today. Rob is stoked when I praise that song and admits: “I was a big fan of that

tune, even if I say so myself. Reality Killed The Video Star and Rudebox came out and didn’t do as well as my old albums used to do, which disappointed me as there were a few great songs there that people missed.

“Lovelight, She’s Madonna... they’re on this album and now hopefully they’ll find a proper home. It’s just nice full stop, 20 years in with this whole Take That thing on the horizon.

“I seem to have settled a mental score with myself.”

After selling 57million albums, seven of which were No 1s, and earning a place in the Guinness World Record books for the fastest ever ticket sales, Robbie is still Britain’s top solo male. Last year at the BRITs he won the Outstanding Contribution To Music gong .

I expect to see Take That perform, and win, when the bash moves to London's O2 Arena in February.

With a dressing room full of sushi platters and water, Robbie is living healthily and happily.

Marrying gorgeous Ayda Field, 31, and hooking up with Take That again have done the trick in satisfying him.

A&R man Tim Clarke told Music Week this week he expects another swing album from Robbie when his TT commitments are over. That’s news to him.

"Not now Michael Bublé’s come on – he’s proper,” Robbie insists. “Mine would be a poor imitation of him. The swing thing was the pension fund but Bublé’s come and ruined that. I do love him though."

You can’t keep the smile off Robbie’s face when he’s back discussing the band, though.

I told him when I first heard The Flood it gave me goosebumps.

“It’s epic,” he agreed. “It was noted that it sounds like Muse. I did have a word in Gary’s ear. Both him and I are big Muse fans. They do epic records but are crap at football – I played them the other week.”

When it comes to high scorers, there’s no-one to rival Mr Williams.

Robbie’s In And Out Of Consciousness: The Greatest Hits 1990-2010 is out now. Take That release single The Flood on November 14 followed by the album Progress on the 22nd.

Training 4 hrs a day for 4 months!!!

That's crazy

Nice to see some good articles about him appearing around the place

I'd loaf about if it wasn't for Take That reunion, says Robbie Williams

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has admitted his appetite for success is gone - and reckons if it wasn't for his reunion with Take That, he'd be happy loafing around.

Robbie has teamed up with his old bandmates and plans to tour with them next year following the release of his own Greatest Hits album.

And he said: "If it wasn't for the boys, I would probably be doing nothing because I quite enjoy that now. It does feel like the end of a last chapter in the book and I feel a bit spent.

"I'm loving what's to come and I'm very excited being back with the boys.

"Our album sounds amazing and I'm excited to do the tour. But I'm kind of still at a loose end figuring out what I want to do when I grow up."

Robbie, who compares his career to that of Cher, has been put off by the criticism of some of his more recent work, including for albums Rudebox and Reality Killed The Video Star.

He confessed: "There are now a lot more avenues for people to be negative. And I don't know whether to stay on the merry-go-round to wait for it to come back to how it was before or just pop off and go home.

"There's no real burning drive or ambition. I'll probably be a leap year artist from now on."

On the lukewarm reaction to Reality Killed The Video Star, Robbie added: "I was kind of going through the motions, as I was all hyped up about doing Rudebox and going down that road, and everybody went, 'No'.

"But I didn't want to do another Come Undone, or another Angels.

"You do find yourself sort of in the boggy marsh of then thinking 'Well, I don't quite fancy doing that any more'. And because everyone had said 'No', I went, 'Well, OK , I can't be a***d either'.

"I found myself capitulating. Knowing that my audience didn't like Rudebox left me thinking, 'Well, er, I don't know what to do now'."

Robbie also spoke fondly of his recent duet with Gary Barlow on Strictly Come Dancing.

But despite co-writing the song Shame with Gary, he admits he forgot his words during the recording of the telly show. He revealed: "There was just a lot of warmth from the audience. There was something special about it.

"I came off and felt good - like my old self again. It was cool.

"We did it twice. I'd forgotten the words the first time. I actually got 90 per cent of them right. But people just remember that 10 per cent, don't they."

Williams: 'X Factor Mary better than SuBo'

Digital Spy

By Daniel Sperling, Entertainment Reporter

Robbie Williams has revealed that he is backing Mary Byrne on this year's X Factor.

The Take That star announced his support of the former supermarket worker at a special Magic FM gig and blasted Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle in the process.

According to The Mirror, Williams told the crowd: "I love Mary. I mean, she’s no SuBo in any way - she’s not mental. But we could all do with a bit of Mary in our lives."

The 'Shame' singer, who performed a duet with Olly Murs in last year's X Factor final, also praised the vocal abilities of another contestant in this year's series.

"I also like Aiden [Grimshaw]," he revealed. "He has a great voice and it was a great performance from him on Saturday."

Williams previously shared his concern that X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd will crack during the live shows.

Williams: Solo album 'a compromise'

Robbie Williams has dismissed his last solo album as a "compromise" - and admitted his comeback single 'Bodies' was "gibberish".

The star - who has now rejoined Take That - said he was more interested in secretly working with the group than he was in promoting his own 2009 release.

In an interview with Q magazine, to be published next week, he confessed his 'Reality Killed The Video Star' album was something of a "panic" measure.

Williams said the words to 'Bodies' made little sense.

"A great track but the lyrics are f***ing gibberish. You look at them and go 'stop watching documentaries, you knob'," he said.

"Who knows what I was going on about? I was f***ing stoned. The edge had gone."

He said 'Reality' was a reaction to the drubbing his previous release 'Rudebox' had been given.

"When suddenly you're not on top of the wave any more and the imperial phase is over, you panic," he said.

"You're left to compromise, basically. The last album was schizophrenic - it was like, I'll put 'Morning Sun' on it because I know (the fans) will like that kind of thing."

Williams said he was disappointed to have to break off from working on his Take That comeback to head out to promote 'Reality Killed The Video Star'.

"I was gutted about it. And unfortunately for EMI, disinterested," Williams told Q, which is out on Tuesday.

Williams is at number one in the album charts with his greatest hits package 'In And Out Of Consciousness'.

Take That's new album 'Progress', featuring Williams, will be released on November 22.

Sometimes Rob really does need a good kick up the arse. He was gutted about having to promote his first album after 3 years break? Big bloody deal. He says unfortunately for EMI he was disinterested in promoting it? It was more unfortunate for the fans who waited all those years for him to make the album only to find he was more interested in harping on endlessly about TT, their last album, their last tour (I think he did more promo for them than RKTVS tbh), Ayda, his dogs, UFO's etc etc - the list is endless amount things he discussed more than the record he was being paid (and a bloody fortune too) to promote. I usually love how he just says what he is thinking and has no filter but sometimes he would be better off keeping his gob shut. He spent all the RKTVS promo discussing TT, so now he is back with TT he should focus on that instead of slagging off an album that deserved a hell of a lot more respect and effort on his part after such a long break. <_<

I agree with you 100% De Niro, it was plain to see he couldn't be bothered when it came to promoting RKTVS, he only started to warm up just as the promo was ending  , I doubt if his fans are ever considered tbh when it comes to Robbie especailly these days , he has made the big bucks so now can chill out & do whatever he likes <_<

Michael Bublé to duet with Robbie?

Heart

Michael Bublé admits he'd love to do a duet with Robbie Williams in exclusive interview with Heart

In an exclusive interview with Heart , Michael Bublé has told presenter Nick Snaith he'd love to do a duet with Robbie Williams.

Whilst talking about the meaning of his song "Hollywood " and his few celebrity friends, the Canadian musician said that he'd met Robbie a few times and that "he's one of the best: a humble, warm, wonderful guy".

Bublé said that he appreciate the fact that Robbie is not afraid of showing that "he's insecure like the all of us, he's a human being, but when he gets up there (on stage) he becomes Robbie".

The "Hollywood" singer added that Robbie is one of the best entertainers alive and that he would love to do a duet with with Williams.

"He calls me The Governor" said Buble' , "but the truth is he's the Chairman. Actually if I could do one duet it'd be with Robbie".

Listen to Michael Buble talking about Robbie here http://www.heart.co.uk/london/showbiz/news...es-duet-robbie/

I wouldn't mind a duet with Buble at all to be honest. I don't own any of his music - but he's a great singer who like Rob has lots of charisma and does not need a big show to entertain a crowd. His own talent does it - I think they would be great on stage together. Perhaps if Rob ever gets around to do a second Swing album a duet fora song or two would happen on that? Although I'd personally like the two of them to do a duet for a James Bond theme - a big orchestral type of anthemic song - a mixture between the music to Bodies and the music for Buble's version of Cry Me A River. :smoke:

Friends of mine went to see Michael in the Aviva stadium in Dublin & said that he put on a fantastic show...he seems like a very nice guy when interviewed & does not slag off people .....

I like him , he is a great entertainer

I can't stand Buble so I hope this isnt true :(

Robbie sheds three stone

By Dan Wootton October 31, 2010

http://i54.tinypic.com/ezq4xy.jpg

That's better... Rob

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is enduring a gruelling fitness regime to fight the flab and keep up with his super-fit TAKE THAT bandmates.

An intense two months of training and dieting has seen him lose three stone - down from 14 to 11 - in preparation for his return to the man band.

His trainer and close friend NICKY HOLENDER said he is even forcing the singer to belt out hits on the treadmill.

Last night a source close to Robbie said: "He has to catch up to GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE who have been on tour much more than him recently and are in peak physical condition.

"He's not going to be left behind and wants to feel trim and healthy, instead of feeling like the podgy member."

Robbie ballooned to a chubby 14-and-a-half stone during his break from the music industry in Los Angeles.

But he decided to completely overhaul his lifestyle ahead of his wedding to AYDA FIELD and return to the superstar band.

Nicky has been spending FOUR HOURS every DAY getting Robbie in shape.

Robbie plans to dance on the tour, unlike former enemy Gary, who will drop out of the routines on their tour starting May.

Nicky told us: "Robbie is now training like a full-on athlete. It's an American football-style of regime. But now we have to ramp up the training even more to get him ready for the tour. He is in shape now - but we need to get him into ridiculous shape.

"I make him run on a treadmill and sing all his songs without missing a note. We need to make sure he can perform the dance moves and sing at the same time."

Robbie also plays football with his Gypsies team, which Nicky coaches, alongside stars including GORDON RAMSAY.

Despite his return to Take That, Robbie has no plans to live in England.

Nicky said: "Robbie will now stay in LA forever. He doesn't get hassled there and he has a football pitch at his house. What more could he want?"

Glasto u-turn

Robbie has done a dramatic U-turn and declared TAKE THAT WILL play Glastonbury. The guys were lukewarm on the Somerset fest but Robbie told me: "We are doing it. We are booked to do it on Saturday, on the main stage." I've got good news for fans who couldn't get tickets to their London gigs this week - more dates are set to be added to their Wembley run.

Source...NOTW

He does look to have lost a lot of weight. He looks well.

But he plans to get involved in the dance routines? Oh dear. He's a $h!t dancer
