Rihanna Dismisses Katy Perry As 'Generic Pop'

After being dismissed as a lightweight by Taylor Momsen, Rihanna apparently feels that it's time to talk some smack herself.

 

The "Rude Boy" singer got a little rude herself during an interview with BBC's Radio 1, dismissing the work of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha as nondescript fluff. Discussing her upcoming album Loud (out on November 12), Ri-Ri opined:

 

"[Loud is] just the perfect Rihanna album. Every song is tailored to me. I wanted all the songs on there that were all Rihanna songs, that nobody else could do. I didn't want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry could do."

 

Something tells us that a few people might have a thing or two to say about that.

She is more generic than Rihanna, you can't deny.

And it was taken totally out of context as well.

She sounds like an absolute arse going by that, but context is a powerful thing. I don't think anyone could call Lady GaGa generic, and Ke$ha and Katy have carved out their own little niches too.
