Simon Cowell has fired The X Factor's vocal coach because of poor performances from Cowell's acts during rehearsals, it has been reported.

Cowell is said to have cancelled the contract of Ali Tennant and re-hired Yvie Burnett - who had been let go after the last series - as well as appointing Savan Kotecha as the new lead vocal coach.

A source told The Sun: "The new coaches weren't cutting it. The groups have a lot of complicated routines and weren't gelling at all.

"There are only three days until the live shows but when Simon saw the shambles he fired the new coaches and bought back Yvie. Now the singers only have a few hours each with her to get it right. The show is in chaos."

However, another insider called Tennant's sacking "totally unfair", adding: "There's not much he can do in a week if the acts can't sing."

Tennant claimed that the decision came as a shock and expressed his disappointment that he had been given no explanation for the axe.

His manager Alex Field said: "Ali proved popular not only with the contestants but also with the judges. He was the only vocal coach to be invited by Simon Cowell to his house in Malaga for the selection stage.

"He was extremely surprised his contract was terminated without notice."

Tennant has previously worked with artists including Alexandra Burke, JLS, Westlife and Boyzone.

Oritse tweeted this today about Ali Tennant:

Caught up with the main man Ali Tennant yesterday, X-Factor and JLS' best Vocal Coach ever!!! Oritsé x

Savan Kotecha ?

Is he not the guy that wrote "The Club Is Alive" and "Start Without You" recently ?

All I can say about this year's show is in one word -- CHAOS!!!

I'd say that's just the way Cowell likes it. All publicity is good publicity. You just watch - this weekend's show(s) will have the highest in X-F history ... even higher than some of the finals.

This line says it all really

How bad must the singing be this year that they need two vocal coaches and what does Savan Kotecha know about vocals after inflicting The Club is Alive and Start without You on us.I must be the only one who is more entertained by listening to the occasional good singer on the show than wannabe actresses trying to get famous. The trouble is though Yvie is such a traditionalist I wonder what she can do with Cher and Wagner.Ratings will be sky high I see.

all the wildcards are leaked online and cheryl was filming outside treyc house on sunday RESUIT no gamu LOVE IT :D

I have to laugh the way the papers are way behind the times. Someone on DS said in the early hours of Monday morning that Cheryl had been seen at TreyC's house in Tamworth.

I hope all this fuss over the other girl dies down .... she just wasn't that good ... its just Cheryl taking the flak for it now.

At the wildcards,

what the f*** at Louis choosing Wagner?! Messed up much. Seems only Dannii and Cheryl got it right.

I'm happy with Cheryl's choice, Dannii's is rather good, also really happy with Simon's. Louis is hilarious!

I can just see Wagner getting alot of protest votes, he may not have much talent but he is so serious and genuinely hilarious at the same time. His speech before he sang at Judges houses it was the only time Sharons face moved although I think it was in complete disgust.

yep i thought louis would of picked that girl i forget her name but she was better then the jesus lookalike :o
Talk abut utter shambles, they might as well cancel this year's X Factor. At least we have a decent Xmas #1 single.
All the publicity the show is getting could see this weeks show have gigantic ratings. Im predicting around 13-15million for the live show and 15-17million for the result!

didnt you love Start Without You?

anyway, I think all this controversy is music to Simons ears tbh- he loves publicity and to get all this before the live shows have even started is making it a talked about show and is bound to get huge ratings on saturday- the same with last year with the Lucie-Jedward scandal- he got a lot of stick for it, but everyone was talking about it

and that article about Simon and Cheryl proves the point really- she was doing what she was told

Both acts could have done far better songs and Savan Kotecha obviously had both those songs gathering dust since the eighties.

Dan Wootton has been busy on twitter he says:

RT @tiger_m: Oh MY WORD! Seriously whatever you had planned thidx000 weekend CANCEL! DO NOT MISS XF I can't tell you! But PURE FUN!!

and

Cher had a face like thunder on her and I'm told is acting as if she's Cheryl Cole already. Lose the 'tude love.

I'm happy with Simon and especially Cheryl's choice, but not Dannii's :(
I hope Cher is more than a one trick pony and proves she is very versatile, she certainly got off to a good start in her audition

...then completely flopped, imo, in her second boot camp when she sang 'Viva La Vida'. Definitely a step backwards, and 'Cooler Than Me' didn't help matters either.
