Another Irish radio interview. This time on FM104 with Rob and Mark. Really funny this one. Rob is taken up on the famous free Irish gig - goes through the gig again and what went wrong but then insisted he will definatly do it - but it can't be a one off and will have to be when he does his next tour. Only another decade or so to wait in that case :D

When did he say no-one buys his records?

In fairness the interviewer brought up the free gig. I am sure Rob would rather it was never mentioned again

Is Gay Byrne still alive?

Very much alive and hugely popular in Ireland. I dont mind gaybo but im not a huge fan but some people just think the sun shines out of his backside and adore him.

Yeah Gaybo is a legend - the Irish Parky and then some. He is well into his 70's now but still does one off specials and also a interview show with celebs called 'The Meaning Of Life' which is interesting. He also has a radio show each Sunday. Certainly busy for a man of his age. He is sorely missed on the Late Late Show though - and has been since he left. He is totally full of himself though and isn't afraid to let people know how great he is and what he has achieved. He is well know for talking down to people and appear very patronizing even if he doesn't intend to be

Interesting on that great FM104 interview - when asked why Gary got to sing 'Eight Letters' Rob said it was because they had finished recording the album and realised Gaz had no leads so he ended up singing that song. I still don't see why there isn't another 2-3 songs on the album - even though i'm not a fan of his voice it is silly for Gary to only have one lead. I would love to hear Rob's version in full though - he sounded so brilliant on it and put so much passion into the delivery. Maybe it will be a single at some stage and there can be an alternative version as B-side.

He says it at the very end of the interview De Niro...he said that since the time he mentioned the free gig he has stopped selling records in Ireland. TBH the singles that he released would not get airplay here , the radio stations just would not rate them, he had plenty tracks to pick from on RKTVS & what do they do '''''play bloody safe''''''' so sorry Robbie it's nothing to do with the free gig or lack of <_<

I am a big fan of Robbies but some of the decisions that he has made along with his management in the last couple of years have been time wasting & under show -casing a good talent. Robbie seems to be getting his Mojo back so maybe he was just totally bored with what he was doing but being bored does NOT sell records. I thought i would never say this but I think we have to thank TT for giving some life back to Robbie.

Do I see him continuing with a solo career after this ...time will tell but it will never be the same for him , will it !!! I can see him releasing a couple of albums but doubt we will ever see him do a solo tour again <_<

Or as I've said before ... there really is no need for Gary to be in the band (performing) anymore. He sort of looks out of place now. I don't think Gary was particularly fussed whether he sings or not as long as he is patently aware that people know he probably had more input into the making of the music and was 'busy behind the scenes'. He looks too much like a senior bank clerk to be in a band though.

Mind you ... Chris Martin looks like a University Sociology lecturer and it hasn't done Coldplay any harm.

PS Scotty - I do find it silly though, to say that Eight Letters could be a future single (IMO it isn't nearly good enough compared to a lot of the rest of the album) with Robbie singing the version on the 'B' side. Rob fans are turning this into their own little Robbie V Gary 'play' battle. Perhaps Rob still wants to vye for lead ... and he is winning ... but Gary looks like he can't be arsed.

A bit like the senior bank clerk at my Nationwide!

Bodies got to #3 and the GH #2 so he shouldn't moan. You Know Me didn't make the top 20 and Shame made #8. I am shocked he is even aware of a dip in popularity in Ireland though. I didn't think he would pay attention.

He is probably right though - if even half of those 82K from Croker are annoyed about no free gig then that is a lot of less records considering how small our sales are in Ireland. I really doubt most people have the time to protest about such things though. -_-

I don't know how I am turning it into a Robbie V Gary battle - I actually said Gary should have more leads. I was just saying how much I would like to hear Rob's full version of 8 Letters at some point. On Oasis's last album there was an alternative version of one of the tracks as a bonus song with Noel singing it. Perhaps a future deluxe release if not a B-side? You are right though - it's not commercial enough to be a single. The only way I can see it being released is fool people into thinking there are loads of other ballads but seeing how well the album is doing there is no need. It would be 'I'd Wait For Life' all over again - too slow and not radio friendly enough to make an impact. Singles should be Kidz, SOS and possibly Happy Now or Wait. All of those tracks have been mentioned as possible second singles so it would appear they are the only ones being considered for future release.

Even more Irish interviews. They covered all the main radio stations it appears.

Just got around to listen to these. Interesting how Jason said he will be hanging the platinum discs for Progress on his wall and how he has never done that for any previous album. He claims he was always proud of the live shows but never the albums but he was very proud of Progress. Was also amusing on that Xpose interview when the interviewer said to Rob and Mark that Progress blows every other boyband out of the water and Rob interrupted and said it blows any band full stop out of the water.

From Irish Daily Star DEC 17th 2010

Take That - Five

Imelda May flew the flag gallantly , Cee Lo Green charmed us with his insults, Rubber bandits made us laugh & the National made us cry. Jay Z stole Oxegen ( although we want it back for July ) , but no act was more talked abvout, loved, revered and respected in 2010 that reunited pop stars Take That.

This was the year that the moment fans didn't dare dream came true - Robbie Williams buried the hatchet and was welcomed Back for Good. Well, for the meantime anyway - but more of that later.

The self-confessed manband kicked off the year with rumours of Robbie's return. But ut was only in July that the group - announced the news formally while putting the finishing touches to their aptly-titled album Progress.

Since then, the stats speak for themselves; they're breaking Michael Jackson's record by playing Wembley stadiumm for a whipping eight nights; they broke their own record from the Circus tour by shifting an unheard of 1.1 million tockets in one day and Progress became the fastest selling album this century in Britain and went three times platinum in Ireland just one month after release.

You can only take it one day at a time, and I'm having the best day today, says Mark, lolling about on a sofa in a posh hotel, looking around in fascination.

I'm in Dublin, and my stomach feels lovely because Iv's has steak and chips and I'm warm and I'm in a room with lovely green velvet curtains and interesting books and I'm talking to you , and Rob's sat there in his cravat and it's amazing. I fell blessed to be alive this minute.

Robbie smiles at his bandmate's comments, it;s a grin that reverts your reporter to her 15 year old self, I assumed I'd be able to resist his charms, but there's not a hope.

2010 has been amazing he agrees, I had the best day of my life when I got married to Ayda Field and Iv'e had a few more second best days of my life with the boys.

The group are in Dublin to say a brief hello to Ireland, appearing on the Late Late Show as well as chatting to media.

If there's any doubt about the bands renewed enthusiasm, this is evidence of it. Their Croke Park double bill next June has already sold out, what need do they have to come here on promotional duties. At least part if it is to do with the fact that they really like Ireland. Robbie says, If the caric was an Olympic sport the irish would win gold every time. The audiences here are wild and crazy, Theyr'e unbridled and passionate. To facilitate their good times is a privilege.

The only difficulty qith the groups last visit to ireland - at Croke Park for the Circus - is how they could ever better it .

The Circus has it's place and will always remain fond in my heart, but it's not about making sure Progress Live is better, it's about making sure it's equal mulls Mark.

Rumours are rife it will be a triptych of a show, with all five members playing common material, a solo slot for Robbie, and a sting from the foursome. But Mark's remaining tight lipped about the plans. It's all being talked about, there are are different ways we can do it he says. There are a lot of great songs to play and however that's done - if we sing some of Rob's songs, if Rob sings some of ours, or we do it altogether - wer'e still working it out. We raise an eyebrow at his caginess and it sets off a full hearty laugh.

It's hard to talk about the tour because I have this silly thing that I want it to be a surprise, like a Christmas present. I don't know why I think that because after the first night of the tour is dosen't matter.

At this point in the conversation Mark 's lying on the bottom half of the plush sofa with his legs dangling over the side. Robbie's on a chair opposite him with his feet resting on Marks sofa. It's no way for Europes biggest pop stars to act but Take That MK3 represents a group of guys who are doing it on their terms. It's a career choice now , a no-pressure situation.

Mark especially is relaxed , veering off topics for the sake of chat and genuine curiosity.

Robbie on the other hand , is a little more guarded, more defensive ( but still brutally honest .. A bit of me loves hijacking a bit of goodwill, a bit of me loves the money that we'll make out of this , he tells us ). Given Marks recent marital indescretions, we expected it to be the other way around.

But it becomes apparent that Rob's wariness is down to natural smarts, a lifetime of being in the media spotlight, and the fach Take That are still very much divided between Rob and the rest of the group.

He dosen't deny he's still very much an individual artist, despite his claims on their reunion documentary Look Back, Don't' Stare that his solo career was over - I'm breaking me up because of musical similiarities ' was the quote' .

I change like the wind, he backtracks , worringly. I want my cake & I want to eat it too. I like being in the band, but who knows.

In which case, can the band see an end in sight.

there are things that are taking us up to the end of 2011 explains Mark..and then we can reconvene and decide what we want to do from that point. I don't likr thinking too far ahead - if your'e making too many plans, your'e not enjoying now' .

But we all love making music , and we all love love each other, Robbie interjects. And we all love being creative, so i don't think we'll ever call it a day.

Then Robbie breaks out that famous grin. Next August he jokes.. We'll be done next August.
