October 12, 201014 yr ISBY doesn't deserve to be that low, but I'm not surprised by it's ranking either.
October 12, 201014 yr I thought ISBY would be a tad higher, all 3 of these are better than the 'Jump' cover imo!
October 12, 201014 yr Again, a deserved relatively low finisher. It is quite beautiful and I did adore it at the time, and it provided to be very handy of course by fianlly giving them a second #1 but like STD and ITWAN elements of it have not aged well and it sounds rather cheesy nowadays.
October 12, 201014 yr I liked their version of stand by you although it is not their finest single its far from their worst either.
October 13, 201014 yr Good run so far, I-I-I like it. :) But I like 'See the Day', I put it higher than #19 in their singles catalogue.
October 13, 201014 yr Whilst I appreciate 'I'll Stand By You' was for charity, the song does nothing for me and I've never liked the original anyway. Much prefer 'See The Day', as it helped me through my worst Christmas.
October 17, 201014 yr Author 18 ~ 'I Think We're Alone Now' ~ 5.825 ~~~ 10.0 from Nick F1, Jack Pilgrim and Marina Hurts ~ 1.0 from IggyMcPig http://i53.tinypic.com/2ccs8qu.png Another cover! And it's the last for a while too, fortunately! This was an alright song at the time, but looking back it was incredibly cheesy and by far from their best! The song was on the soundtrack to It's a Boy/Girl Thing and was the second single off their Greatest Hits album. It was chosen for the album over their cover of Blondie's 'Hanging On a Telephone' (which is miles better), so when I found that out, I was quite disappointed! Edited October 26, 201014 yr by Theo.
October 17, 201014 yr Did I really give 'I Think We're Alone Now' and 'I'll Stand By You' 10's?! Oh dear!
October 17, 201014 yr Author Did I really give 'I Think We're Alone Now' and 'I'll Stand By You' 10's?! Oh dear! No. :P That was Jack Pilgrim, I didn't bother checking. D: You gave them 7 and 6 respectively. :P
October 17, 201014 yr Good, I hate I Think We're Alone Now. Come to think about it, must be at the absolute bottom of the pop history, with Walk This Way there too.
October 17, 201014 yr I really like i think were alone now, yes, its not nearly as good as the original but i like it at the same time.
October 26, 201014 yr I Think We're Alone Now was good, although I preferred the slightly more minimalist album version to the single version. Better yet, I preferred Tiffany's original and the Pascal feat Karen Parry version from 2002 :D
October 26, 201014 yr I'll Stand By You should of been higher! but glad to see all the Girls' singles rating higher than the covers :D TBH I loved all there covers at the time of release ;)
October 26, 201014 yr WELL, I hope Sexy No No No doesn't do too bad :( BY FAR my favourite GA song! Along with The Promise, and the 'timeless' Sound Of The Underground. This has reminded me how atrocious some of their CD covers were
October 26, 201014 yr Author 17 ~ 'Long Hot Summer' ~ 6.450 ~~~ 11.0 from Angelic Shine ~ 0.0 from 152chris http://i52.tinypic.com/bdmowk.png Another of the Girls' lowly-regarded singles, but this time not a cover! This was meant to be their big comeback for their third album, but it flopped into the charts at #7; ruining their top five streak. The Girls regard it as the bum song in their career, and they've never performed it on tour! The album campaign picked up after the iconic next single, 'Biology', but the actual album became their first and only to miss the top ten in the UK album charts ('Chemistry' peaked at #11.)
October 26, 201014 yr I love this song in the bit it's used on the Girls Aloud Megamix, but the full song doesn't sustain as well, still better then a lot of girl band tripe.
October 26, 201014 yr Poor Long Hot Summer. It's actually fairly enjoyable and quite the summer anthem but it is not single material, like at all. Perfect album track, but the single choices for Chemistry were completly and utterly fxcked up anyway so I dont suppose it was much of a suprise. I Think Were Alone Now is also enjoyable enough in a guilty pleasure sort of way, but should just have been left on the Greatest Hits instead of being dragged out a single.
