Robbie Williams - Williams Wrote 'Gibberish' For Comeback Single

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has branded his most recent solo album "schizophrenic" - and confessed it was written in a "panic" while he was high on drugs.

The Take That singer released his comeback record, Reality Killed the Video Star, last year (09), and its lead single Bodies was his first chart hit for three years.

But Williams has now brushed off the lyrics to Bodies as "gibberish" because they were written as he watched endless documentaries while "stoned".

Williams tells Q magazine, "(Bodies is) a great track but the lyrics are f***ing gibberish, you look at them and go 'Stop watching documentaries, you k**b.'

"Who knows what I was going on about? I was f**king stoned, the edge had gone... When suddenly you're not on top of the wave any more and the imperial phase is over, you panic. You're left to compromise, basically, the last album was schizophrenic - it was like, I'll put (song) Morning Sun on it because I know (my fans) will like that kind of thing."

(Note to Rob. I love Bodies. I'm not so keen on Morning Sun. Shows how much you know.... :) )

Some more quotes from the same story, this time from The Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/m...-gibberish.html

Robbie Williams has dismissed his last solo album as a ''compromise'' and admitted his comeback single Bodies was ''gibberish''.

By Laura Roberts

The star - who has now rejoined Take That - said he was more interested in secretly working with the group than he was in promoting his own 2009 release.

In an interview with Q magazine, to be published next week, he confessed his Reality Killed The Video Star album was something of a ''panic'' measure.

Williams said he was disappointed to have to break off from working on his Take That comeback to head out to promote Reality Killed The Video Star.

''I was gutted about it. And unfortunately for EMI, disinterested,'' Williams told Q, which is out on Tuesday. <_<

Williams is at number one in the album charts with his greatest hits package In And Out Of Consciousness.

Take That's new album Progress, featuring Williams, will be released on November 22.

I wish he'd told me he didn't give a toss about his album. I might have saved my money. <_<

Anyway, if that's how he currently feels about his solo work he's better off taking a break and disappearing into the sunset with his TT buddies. I'll just need to content myself with Wee Daniel until RW returns as a solo act. After he falls out with all the others. Again. -_-

Things must be really bad Jups if you are haning on to Wee Daniel for dear life  ...I rather fancy Robbies gibberish tbh, BDOIES is one of his finest releases in the last couple of years B)

I'm glad he said that the Bodies lyrics are gibberish because I've tried my best-est to understand them i.e. find some deeper meaning in them and I just can't  and yeah, I prefer Bodies to Morning Sun as well.

MS is ok... but I have to admit I'm often quite annoyed by the birds' song at the beginning and by the rhythm of the entire song.......

 that's so funny, you are not alone there, I did too and have read quite a few threads on forums where people

are trying to disect the song bit by bit to work out what the lyrics mean.

Wasted time eh

so we're smart after all

It's my most played Robbie song on last.fm

As I said in the News thread:

"I was gutted about it. And unfortunately for EMI, disinterested," Williams told Q, which is out on Tuesday.

Sometimes Rob really does need a good kick up the arse. He was gutted about having to promote his first album after 3 years break? Big bloody deal. He says unfortunately for EMI he was disinterested in promoting it? It was more unfortunate for the fans who waited all those years for him to make the album only to find he was more interested in harping on endlessly about TT, their last album, their last tour (I think he did more promo for them than RKTVS tbh), Ayda, his dogs, UFO's etc etc - the list is endless amount things he discussed more than the record he was being paid (and a bloody fortune too) to promote. I usually love how he just says what he is thinking and has no filter but sometimes he would be better off keeping his gob shut. He spent all the RKTVS promo discussing TT, so now he is back with TT he should focus on that instead of slagging off an album that deserved a hell of a lot more respect and effort on his part after such a long break. <_<

He is right about Bodies lyrics though - they don't make a whole lot of sense. Just like a number of singles though - Rock DJ being the most obvious  He does say he thinks Bodies is a great tune though and said in the Neil Fox interview a while back that although he resented having to make a commercial album he still loves RKTVS and is very proud of it. I just wish he would stop down-playing himself and his solo career. It is bad enough he has rejoined TT but if he continues this sort of crap he will totally alienate his solo fans, and when he gets bored with TT and goes back there will be far few remaining. His lack of respect for his fans is nothing new though. He never thinks before he speaks. Ever.

And it proves how wrong he is about Bodies and MS - Bodies= European #1 smash hit, #2 Worldwide, his fastest seller in the UK since Rock DJ compared to Morning Sun - the biggest flop of his entire career. I do love Morning Sun but it was never single material - it doesnt even have a chorus - a nice edited version of Starstruck would have done far better. But the judgement of Rob and his management is a laughable one let's be honest.

What he says  100%

ditto.

(We still love Rob, don't we?  but that post is so true :( )

Yes. But I fear I'm becoming a tad disillusioned. :(
