Posted November 2, 201014 yr Ok, the album is almost here. What do you think first week sales will be? I beleve they have a chance of topping first weeks sales of "The Circus" and I predict they sell more than 500.000 copies......and total sales in UK for the album will be around 2-2.5 million. Take That are going from strength to strength.....who would have thought that 5 years ago..... Their comeback is amazing.
November 2, 201014 yr I think it stands a very good chance of selling near 500,000 in its first week but at worst should shift 400,000. Overall i agree it will sell between 2 and 2 and a half million, beautiful world sold that amount, the circus has sold in or around 2.1 million and the ultimate collection is just over 1.8 million so i certainly cant see progress selling less than 2 million. Yes indeed who would have ever though take that would be so huge all over again,as i a fan i never expected it myself, i remember when i heard they were releasing the ultimate collection i thought it might have been a minor top 20 hit and then that would be it, how wrong was i!! In the uk alone they have sold almost 6.5 million albums alone since their return and and in or around 2.5 million single.
November 2, 201014 yr I won't be buying the album until the January sales (if at all) ... but I'm sure it'll do fantastically. Kath
November 3, 201014 yr Are you not buying based on the music or based on your opinions of take that themslves out of a matter of interest?
November 3, 201014 yr Are you not buying based on the music or based on your opinions of take that themslves out of a matter of interest? I didn't say I'm not buying Pete. This time ... I'm waiting until I hear the whole album before I buy it ... which I probably won't get around to doing before Christmas. With The Circus and Beautiful World ... I bought the day they came out ... with only hearing the lead tracks on both (tell a lie ... on BW I'd heard Shine and IWFL due to AAWTT Live). I think I said at the time that I thought there was a lot of filler on The Circus. By the reviews ... it looks like this album is better than The Circus and Beautiful World ... I think the fresh input of a fifth person has helped a lot ... I'm just choosing to listen to the album first before I buy. I'm sure it'll feature as Radio II's album of the week. November 3, 201014 yr Author Back to topic  There seems to be agreement on this forum that Take That will sell about 500.000 albums in the UK in the first week. What are the predictions for the rest of Europe? I predict sales of about 1.5-2.0 million by the end of 2010 in the UK alone. In Europe they'll probably manage between 300.000-500.000 by the end of this year. It'll definately be a big success for both Take That and Robbie.
November 3, 201014 yr  In the UK I think they may match first week sales of The Circus they may even surpass it a tiny bit. However ... even if it does I seriously doubt it'll continue to rack up the following four weeks in the same fashion (i.e. circa 400K for each of the first four weeks). In fact ... I think it'll drop quite rapidly and I doubt it'll get to the 2 million mark by year end. Europe ... they may make 250K between release and the end of 2010. November 3, 201014 yr It wont make 2 million by the end of 2010 in the UK but i think it will next year, it will sell well right through out christmas. I was wondering do you guys think the all the die hard robbie will buy the album as they will want to keep their robbie collection complete?? I think europe or world wide sales for progress could possibly reach about 5 million. Im excited for the new album but i fear i might be a little disapointed as for me the circus was a fantastic album and by far my favourite take that album to date and im not sure of progress will match up it for me, on a brighter note take that have never delivered an album that i havent been impressed with yet so i dont think anything will change on that front with progress.

I was wondering do you guys think the all the die hard robbie will buy the album as they will want to keep their robbie collection complete?? I think as Robbie has lead or shared lead on six of the ten tracks ... there could possibly be a hell of a lot of Rob fans buying it (although they may not admit to it). I have read of a few Gary fans who won't be buying it as Gary only has one sole lead vocal. I think each set of fans will even things out I think europe or world wide sales for progress could possibly reach about 5 million. Pete ... are you including UK sales in that world-wide figure? I think even if you are you could be well off the mark. I think the album will actually be better than The Circus (IMO TC was not nearly as good as Beautiful World). Progress seems to be a bit more 'coherent' than TC was ... which for me was a bit all over the place and with too much filler. Kath
November 3, 201014 yr I have a feeling that I'm going to like Progress better then TC. This is really only based on The Flood though which I prefer to anything on TC. I don't think that sales will decrease much before the end of the year and I wouldn't be suprised if first week sales were 500K +. We'll soon find out!
November 4, 201014 yr Ya not too long to wait to see how it sells. Norma when i said earlier about worldwide sales been around 5 million i included the UK sales in that so i mean 3 million outside the UK or hopefully 2 million, i had hoped worldwide sales would be around 4 million and if things went well 5 million. I think alot of robbie fans around europe will buy the album and likewise in places like Australia. Edited November 4, 201014 yr by Aphrodite
November 4, 201014 yr I really really want it to beat Oasis "Be Here Now" record and become" the fastest selling album in the UK of all time" but it wont happen...I predict 450-500 for its opening week, total in the UK-around 3,000,000. Worldwide, considering''Robbie factor'': 5,000,000-6,000,000 I think they will sell + 1,000,000 in Germany along, as they are really big over there. Progress might become the bestselling TT album for the past 20 years. Robbie's comeback will benefit both parties.I am so glad he rejoined the band. Edited November 4, 201014 yr by locott
November 4, 201014 yr I too would love them to beat the oasis record but unfortunatly i cant see it happening, although we can hope!!
November 5, 201014 yr Author Progress will definately be the best selling Take That album ever. Sales in UK will be massive and the rest of Europe seems to be excited too...... Compliments to mainly Gary. Fantastic approach to business. Seems like Take That benefit more than Robbie from the whole reunion.

Fantastic approach to business. Seems like Take That benefit more than Robbie from the whole reunion. I strongly disagree - Robbie would never sell in UK so much albums, so he benefits as well. Plus he polishes his image, as he was not so loved anymore since being such a big ego. And as far as his albums still does well in Germany, being bought as a sure present for example, his songs, apart from Bodies which benefited from massive promotion, didn't do well and were quite easy forgotten. He gets more albums sells because of the inertia and the better known name. For example TT were seen only as a joke in Germany and nobody in the press gave them a chance or listened to their album without prejudice, thinking they were only an ageing boyband, while when they hear Robbie's album they think about the "great male solo star, blah, blah". TT would have sell in UK the tickets as easy with or without Robbie, and Robbie would have sell the tickets as well so easy alone. But as Robbie doesn't seem to feel well alone on the stage , he benefits from the support of TT. So, they benefits equally from the whole Tadah
November 5, 201014 yr So, they benefits equally from the whole Tadah  You're totally right Daniella! Take That benefit from Robbie via Europe but he benefits from them back on home soil. Result all round I'd say. I must admit though ... if it is true that there is barely a trace of a ballad on the new album ... I'd be very, very happy. And I do think the 'electro pop' thing (whilst not entirely new in the music world) would never have appeared on a TT album without Rob. Kath
November 6, 201014 yr I would like a ballad on the album, im not syaing loads of them but at least 1 strong one as they can sometimes do brilliant ballads.
November 11, 201014 yr I'm sure it'll feature as Radio II's album of the week. Kath It is. Next week.
November 11, 201014 yr the album's final success depends on how it will sell in Britain! I can only see this selling 500,000 copies outside of England... especially from judging the flood's reception so far! (chartwise)..

I can only see this selling 500,000 copies outside of England... especially from judging the flood's reception so far! (chartwise).. I'm sure it'll do more than that. If it doesn't ... and does indeed only make half a million outside the UK ... then it won't even have done as well as BW or TC ... which I'm sure it will beat (outside the UK). Kath
