Ok, the album is almost here. What do you think first week sales will be?

I beleve they have a chance of topping first weeks sales of "The Circus" and I predict they sell more than 500.000 copies......and total sales in UK for the album will be around 2-2.5 million.

Take That are going from strength to strength.....who would have thought that 5 years ago..... Their comeback is amazing.

What was "The Circus" first week sales?

Back to topic

There seems to be agreement on this forum that Take That will sell about 500.000 albums in the UK in the first week. What are the predictions for the rest of Europe?

I predict sales of about 1.5-2.0 million by the end of 2010 in the UK alone. In Europe they'll probably manage between 300.000-500.000 by the end of this year.

It'll definately be a big success for both Take That and Robbie.

I predict it will certainly pass the half a million mark in it's opening week. No way will it beat Oasis's BHN's 7 day tally of well over 800,000.

Rob already has six albums in the top 35 fastest selling albums ever list - so to feature on, quite possibly the second fastest selling album ever would be nice to see. In Europe I can see it clearing at least half a million in total - depending on the promo. I can see it going to #1 in Germany and going platinum (200,000)- by the end of the year.

Promo is strong in Germany so it will do very well there. I believe it will have some impact in further big European markets such as France and Italy (there is a concert in San Siro as well). It could sell 300K in Germany and another 300 in the rest of Europe (-UK) but boybands are way out of fashion in Europe so there is always a chance to completely flop... The tour will be critical. There is NO hype outside the UK (+Germany?) for the reunion and TT have been an irrelevant act for so long, it will definitely be a huge leap (and achievement). If it works TT fans may like Robbie a bit more in the end.

If the album sells a million outside the UK the album I will consider it a success. If it does less than 500K it will be a flop.

I think it will do around 600K in the UK first week. :plat: :plat:

I am sure it WON'T be a success for Robbie in a worldwide scale! But it will definitely be in the UK.

RKTVS must have sold 1.5+million outside the UK by now right?

RKTVS sold 1.3M outside of the UK in it's first month and a half so now there is no question it is well over the 1.5M point. Total sales would exceed 3M at this stage - a year after it's release.

I am not sure how likely 'Progress' selling 1M copies outside the UK are. As you say they are not very relevant these days internationally and boybands have little to no success anywhere outside the UK these days - the Robbie factor will certainly help but it all depends on the amount of exposure and promotion. I can see it going platinum in Germany - and at the most double platinum - 400,000. I can see around 700,000 copies shipped internationally.

You mean 3M including the 1M in the UK or without it? I believe 4million estimated copies is a bit too much with only 1million in the UK....

RKTVS has shipped 2,5 million copies globally... not sure about this 3 million figure...

I think progress will do great, inside and outside the UK... It could go 2x platinum in Germany when the promo is good... and I'm very confident now, that it might hit 2 million in the UK alone (sometime next year).

The 2.5M figure is one given by EMI for the end of 09 only - so a little over a month and a half. Sales have been strong since, especially the first 3 months of 2010 so it is highly likely it has hit the 3M mark - and if it hasn't it is surely close.

7heDreamer - I meant 3M including the UK figure. I agree - any estimates of this album selling 4M WW are way too high I think. Although it all depends of promotion internationally.

Ok then. If Robbie could sell 3 Millions outside the UK with Rudebox I believe he *can* definitely do it again with his albums; RKTVS at some point in the future or a future release.

Even IAOOC could sell a lot during the coming years. GH vol1 has always been a strong catalogue seller and now vol2 will take its place (since it is a better and more complete collection anyway).

Will 'the flood' be available to download WW next week? If so we could get a clue of how other markets will react to it and the whole TT thing... It is a catchy tune I believe it could do well on a WW scale with proper promotion and support.

800,000?Really?I thought it was over 600,000 for the opening week? Anyway, i agree, it would be hard to beat those monster sales...Oh,well, I want them to beat The Circus opening week sales at least then.

Please... boyband? They are hardly a "boyband" anymore. They transformed into a credible pop band. With a little help of Robbie's "mega-star" status and luck, i am sure general puplic will accept them with open arms!

Be Here Now was released on a Thursday and sold just under 700,000 ( 696,389) copies in three days only. It's total for 7 days was 813,000. It sold 1M in 11 days. :D

The decisive week has finally arrived. What's your final predictions for first week sales and overall sales?

The sales are going to be truly massive! :o

It has now come to light that the 150,000 first day sales is for HMV in the UK and Ireland alone :o The majority of those sales - let's say 120K would be for the UK HMV stores - with other retailers and online stores such as Amazon then 200K first day is highly likely. It will easily pass half a million for week sales is this turns out to be correct.

New estimates:

HMV figure of 150,000 applies to them only.

Mid week chart sales: Estimates:

HMV 150,000

Other retailers 100,000

Amazon 250,000

itunes 250,000

Total: 750,000+

Progress could beat the Oasis record.
