Posted November 3, 201014 yr How many pre-album singles would you buy, before deciding to cherry-pick from the remainder, rather than buying the whole album?
November 3, 201014 yr Author Probably no more than two in my case. If it's a favourite artist i'd buy the whole album regardless, but otherwise...
November 3, 201014 yr I never cherry pick. I either buy an album in its entireity or not at all. I guess I cherry picked Shontelle's Perfect Nightmare from her new album but I have no intention of buying any of the other tracks or the full album.
November 3, 201014 yr I like cherry picking, like at the moment, I've got "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" and "Outta My Head" from Leona Lewis' Echo, but I wouldn't want to buy the entire album.
November 3, 201014 yr It depends on the album to be honest, and basically depends if there's enough songs I like on the album for it to be more profitable to buy the whole thing, than download album tracks, which either means the album has to be cheap, or very good. Like Tinie Tempah's album, I would buy the whole thing, because it all sounds pretty awesome, but, for example, on Tinchy Stryder's album from last year, I only loved the singles really, so I'd definitely cherry-pick that. Both artists released 3 pre-album singles (I think), but one I'd buy, and one I'd just cherry-pick. I'd cherry-pick some albums, even if there were no singles released before it, and other albums I'd get the 4 singles, and then still get the whole album, so I don't really know what to vote for tbh.

Big candidates for cherry-picking have to be 'special editions' or 'greatest hits' that have only a few new tracks!
November 4, 201014 yr Big candidates for cherry-picking have to be 'special editions' or 'greatest hits' that have only a few new tracks! Ok, now in that case I do cherry pick. If Pixie thought I was paying a tenner again for 5 new songs she can dream on :smoke: I downloaded the other 5 'new' songs when she slapped them onto iTunes last December along with a (gorgeous) cover of Silent Night...

If Pixie thought I was paying a tenner again for 5 new songs she can dream on :smoke: I thought it was 10 new - at least it was when I bought TUIL (though I do have the excuse I never bought the original)... November 4, 201014 yr Anyone knows why downloading selective tracks is called "cherry-picking"? :D Why cherries? And to answer the question, I don't cherry pick or pick cherries (whatever lol) because I only buy physical albums/singles.
November 4, 201014 yr I thought it was 10 new - at least it was when I bought TUIL (though I do have the excuse I never bought the original)... 10 are new to physical formats, but the first 5 tracks (Rolling Stone, Want You, Use Somebody, When Love Takes Over and Without You as well as another cover of Silent Night) have actually been on iTunes since last December. The only songs brand new and not available anywhere (and the only ones I didn't have) before were Broken Arrow, Doing Fine (Without You), Coming Home, Can't Make This Over and Catching Snowflakes.
November 4, 201014 yr Is it really stupd that I thought this was a prediction poll for a new artist called Cherry with her first single 'Picking'? :P I honestly thought that! I don't think I have ever done it before, I prefer the buy the whole album instead of a couple of album tracks.

Then what do you do if there's a track you like by an artist you don't want to buy a whole album of?
