Pipettes - We Are The Pipettes

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELCDPIP.JPG

Possibly the best pop album of the 21st Century thus far, The Pipettes' debut arrives after a raft of tours and is backed by the singles 'Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me' and 'Pull Shapes'. - HMV

Hyperbole aside, the three chanteuses that front the group produce timeless pop in the vein of 50s doo-wop, owing more than a small nod to the likes of Gladys Knight and her Pips, The Shangri-Las and the Grease Soundtrack. An album which takes the idea of bubble-gum-pop and turns it into an art-form, 'We Are The Pipettes' is full of classically formed and catchy melodies with choruses that linger in the brain long after the CD stops playing. Guaranteed to put a smile on anybody's face, this is a collection of songs that while perhaps best sampled in the sun, will remain a classic long after the summer has finished. Ian Moreno-Melgar, HMV Sheffield Meadowhall

Meh I suppose this is a PROPER topic about the album itself but it's my favourite of the year so far  and did I mention yet I met them and got it signed?

There is a topic about this just below this one

Yea, the comments that's it's the best Album of the year indicated to me that it deserved it's own thread!

Yeah I realised this is a thread about the actual album rather than where it is in your HMV

Well they're doing great considering how small their label (Memphis Industries) is :cheer: Still waiting for a more precise prediction for the album though.

For me :D

Wonder if they'll release another single :o

I hope so :(

I they do then I want 'We Are the Pipettes' or 'Because Its Not Love' to be it :cheer:

There are rumours of 'Judy' or 'We Are The Pipettes' being the next single ;) But isn't 'We Are The Pipettes' a bit too different from the rest to be a single  I'd like Judy or ABC to be the next single myself

'We Are the Pipettes' would make a great single imo, it seems be a real favourite at least with people I know

I think all of the album is rather eclectic, it sticks with the theme of 60's inspired pop but it then branches off into a variety of styles. I think WATP is certainly catchy and radio firendly enough to make it as a single.

Judy and ABC have both been out before. But yeah, I suppose it wouldn't hurt - they're both ace.

Personally, I would like to see Because It's Not Love as the next single.

Musically, they remind me of this UK Top5 Hit single from 1983:

TRACEY ULLMAN - BREAKAWAY

Pipettes could cover that, maybe give them the break through they require.

Its taken a while to grow on me but I'm beginning to love it. I wouldn't have bought it if I wasn't going to the signing but still.

My faves are pull shapes, dirty mind, ABC and Judy!

The name of the band and the name of there song makes me think that they are a cheerleading group! :P
