November 10, 201014 yr Hard to judge the songs from the tiny bits... Too much electronic, to much the same sound for me. Instant liking: SOS; Kidz and Pretty things. The only songs who sounds like BW is Eight letters, but is boring  . EDIT. is a grower, isn't it? After a couple of hearing, i got from "hate it" to "don't mind it" to "oh, i cannot wait to hear the songs in full". The orchestration is very interesting. I get a very big Erasure vibe and Pretty things sound very DepecheMode! Still, Eight letters is boring and dated, is this the song compared with BeeGees? It might be saved by a great chorus still! November 10, 201014 yr The album is leaked. I've listened to it already. Very different, but great. I love Kidz, Eight Letters and Happy Now the most.
November 10, 201014 yr it's too electronical and upbeat for me after the first listen. It's too different from their usual sound. And Mark sings too many songs. Gary's only on 3 songs (including the flood). Instant songs i loved: Eight letters (Gary), Affirmation (Howie)
November 10, 201014 yr Mark sings also only on 3 songs (also not full, on two of them half only) like Gary :naughty: . If someone is singing too much, that is Robbie, not Mark. Mark has worked hard for TT, not like Robbie who gets everything on the plate and everyone tryes to make him comfortable. Poor Howard, once again he has one of the weakest song on the album. And i like his voice so much
November 10, 201014 yr I've only heard SOS so far all the way through. LOVED it from the first listen (although it is quite reminiscent of Kaiser Chief's EDILYL&L). Shoulda gone with this one as a lead. I have the feeling I'll HATE eight letters ... will let you know later. Kath
November 10, 201014 yr I agree.. Howard's song should have been a hidden track not Jason's. Flowerbed is BRILLIANT! One of my faves definitely.
November 10, 201014 yr Interesting that everyone has been saying that this album has 'Robbie written all over it' and 'you can tell Robbie has had a huge input on this'. It was Barlow who came into the New York Studio with the 10 tracks to begin with. Sure ... They've all tweaked here and there and toyed with other bits ... but anyone would think Barlow is only capable of writing Manilowesque ballads. Kath
November 10, 201014 yr Author Absolutely amazing. It'll cost them a fair amount of fans but they have done their best album yet. Fantastic songwriting from Mr. Barlow. Hats off.
November 10, 201014 yr Absolutely amazing. It'll cost them a fair amount of fans but they have done their best album yet. Fantastic songwriting from Mr. Barlow. Hats off. I think he needed a hell of a lot of help with the lyrics though ... I think they've always been his weak-spot. Too soppy! Kath
November 10, 201014 yr Have only listened to the clips so far - from the small amount that I've heard I'm liking SOS, Kidz and flower bed. I still liove The Flood though.
November 11, 201014 yr Really like the direction they've taken for this album! 'SOS' is absolutley bloody wonderful!
November 12, 201014 yr Author Taken from the BBC album review: Williams' vocals are the most prominent on Progress and, on the surface, it's the first Take That album not dominated by Barlow. But don't be fooled. Williams now calls his former nemesis "the captain" while Barlow has confirmed he "still leads the trail". His musical input into this album, as with all Take That releases, is vast. For all the progress made in the latest gear change of the Take That rollercoaster, Gary Barlow is still the leader of the band that was formed around him.
November 12, 201014 yr I heard the clips of itunes and it sounds different to their recent stuff but I still liked it. Have a feeling it may not be a popular as their last two albums but we'll have to wait and see.
November 12, 201014 yr The preview doesn't do any justice to the full songs. Progress is way better than The Circus and Beautuful World, imho. I am very pleased with the result.
November 12, 201014 yr I was never a massive fan of 'The Circus' anyway, and naturally 'Progress' walks all over it.
November 12, 201014 yr Author Another good review: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertai...or-2132247.html It looks like they finally have a chance to win Best Album at Brit Awards next year.
