I would love howard to do some more lead vocals as i love his voice, and i would love one day for him to get another never forget as he did and still does a fantastic job on that song.
Bought the album this morning and I've given it a few listens through. Highlights for me would be The Flood, SOS, Wait and Eight Letters. I think some of the other songs I will grow to love but need to give them more of a chance first although I will say overall I'm happy I bought it.
I like eight letters to but overall i think it is possibly one the fans are singling out as one of the weaker songs on the album.

This is a fantastic album. My rates after two listens;

The Flood - 10/10

SOS - 9.5/10

Wait - 9.5/10 - The intro is brilliant, as is the rest of the song

Kidz - 9.5/10

Pretty Things - 8.5/10

Happy Now - 8.5/10

Underground Machine - 8/10

What Do You Want From Me - 7.5/10 - it's a real grower musically but I can't bear some of the lyrics

Affirmation - 7/10 - Howard's had better songs in the past but it's solid

Eight Letters - 9.5/10 - This is really anthemic, although sounds like it wouldn't be out of place on a Cliff Richard album  Which makes me question why I love it so much...

Flowerbed - 8.5/10

Starts off damn near perfectly and dips a little bit towards the end, but picks up right before the finish. A bizarre listen at times and arguably the most 'out there' album they've ever made, but not that different to alienate either mark 1 or mark 2 fanbases. Melodically The Flood, Wait, Eight Letters and Flowerbed could have easily slotted onto Beautiful World or The Circus, if not for the more electronic production. Overall, a great album!

Considering this was the same line up of 15 years ago that were a teenage girl's dream and manufactured marvel, it's amazing how credible they've become. The reviews of this album have almost universally been great and it's easily one of the musical highlights of 2010. Compare this to Westlife who carry on churning out the same mawkish muck that could have been on their debut album 12 years ago with no credibility whatsoever.

I hope Progress gets a Brit nomination for Best Album, although I'm not sure if it will be eligible. What is the eligibility cut off date?

Fully deserves its huge opening sales, and hopefully it will be the end of year #1 selling album. I can't see anything that could prevent it from achieveing this feat either.

Really?

In that case it's my new guilty pleasure  Just like Mancunian Way was my 3rd favourite song on Beautiful World (after Patience/Shine) even though a lot of people called it the worst song on there!

I'm a Gary Barlow fan through and through so I'm drawn to the songs he sings lead on. I know some people aren't too keen on it, but I like that they've created an album that is "Progress" for them as a band without completely ditching their old sound.

The only track I really wasn't sure about was Flowerbed, but that's only because of how it starts off. I think I'd have hated it if it had been like that all way through so I'm glad it isn't.

After several listens my fave song is Happy Now. Others which come close are SOS, Kidz and Wait.

I still haven't got the album. Can't believe I went into Sainsbury's today and that was one of the dozen or so items I had in mind to buy and I completely forgot. Won't have a chance now until Saturday. I suppose it'll wait. This will be the first Take That album (this time) that I haven't had at least on the day of release.

It sure is! I know that I keep repeating myself but I    this album. I really do!

I'll try and listen by the end of the week. But it seems to be premium only on Spotify, and only clips on We7, so I'll probably have to YouTube all tracks :(

They didn't play Mancunian Way on any of the Beautiful World concerts bar the penultimate one (and I'm assuming) the last one too! It was brilliant. I wasn't that fond of it until I heard it live. Great night that too ... they had Bev Knight join them on the 'B' Stage as a special guest.

If I'm honest, musically, I found the Beautiful World Tour better than The Circus Tour ... even though The Circus Tour was an absolute 'spectacular'.

I cant wait to see what they come up with for the next tour as the style of the album could lead to anything tour wise.

I still prefer the Beautiful World Tour too, I just thought everything about it was perfect and it's by far the best concert I've ever been too. But then I know The Circus was technically a better show so it might just be my experience of seeing it that makes me biased; it was my first TT concert & I went with some family members that I don't really see now, it was the night it was being shown live at Vue cinemas which seemed to make it extra special, our seats were changed less than a week before the show because our original ones got in the way of filming equipment and we ended up with really brilliant seats near the front and to top it off I got to shake Gary & Jason's hands when they went from the B-stage to the main stage. It just ended up being one of those magical nights you'll never forget.
