July 20, 200618 yr I LOVED the old Trance style, but the more comerical looped stuff today I'm not finding THAT bad, either. I'll always love Dance.

F F S! I find myself asking the same question mate.. But I go a little further back and wonder what happened to all the true greats, stuff like Underworld, FSOL, Chemical Brothers or Orbital..... :( Don't mourn too much though - try some Cosmosis, Infected Mushroom or Dark Soho.... And dont forget the EBM stuff you seemed to like when I put it up... ;)
July 20, 200618 yr I do agree. Samples are getting so tired and nothing seems original anymore If you're looking to the charts and the mainstream sources for any inspiration or originality, then you're looking in the wrong place.... Underground Sounds (Psych Trance, EBM, Electronica, Industek, etc) is the place to look for any of that
July 22, 200618 yr there's still oodles of great dance music being released - albeit more underground these days. You just have to look harder to find it these days. Once you wade through the dross like Sunblock, Leo Sayer, and anything Skizzo may have heard of.... there's some mighty fine stuff out there.
July 23, 200618 yr Trance fizzled from the mainstream when the big superclubs (a la Gatecrasher) died out. Although house music is my main passion, there is a whole heap of great trance from this classic era (98-99) that I love. I can't see any plans for the return of trance however, but it would be nice.

F F S! I'm afraid so. Back in the techno days of the 90s those were the days of the great dance music. Where did it all come from - mainland Europe of course. I have mountains of music from those days. Lots bought on visits to Europe as much of it didn't get a UK release and what was released didn't get much promo. The UK hasn't a clue of how to make real dance music. Acts like Marusha, Imperio, Sqeezer, Brooklyn Bounce, Blumchen, Pharao, Westbam, U96, Prince Ital Joe, Intermission, Mr. President, Music Instructor, Scooter, DJ Bobo, 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo, Mark'oh, Members Of Mayday, Das Modul, La Bouche and many many more. Good point re Gatecrasher. The 'superclubs'... they just don't do the business anymore... even Ibiza has gotten more 'rocky' of late. I reckon the classic trance era was before 98 and 99, though - the React label propelled trance to the fore with their superb (and now deleted and collectable) Reactivate compilations around 1993 - 1997. If you ever see one of these for sale, get it at all costs - especially Reactivate Volume 10 and 11..... just incredible.
