That'd be like not allowing Justin Bieber singles to chart. It's not pleasant to see them there but if they sell, they sell and should be included.

 

 

Agreed. We don't want to see a chart with titles removed. Well I don't anyway. If most of the Top 10 are kids films then so be it.

interesting they take the kids stuff out of the dvd chart.what about xmas dvds which arent cartoons but are childrens films\-\eg a wonderful life,home alone and santa claus the movie which will sell well in december!!

They are classified as Family films. But they'd be included anyway. It's mainly titles that are under 12s & those that don't get rented. All beyond my control. Compared to a certain "Official" chart, they also miss out Download sales of those cheap cover song versions, in the Singles chart. Then on the Album chart they relegate Compilations. My lot don't, so they are all in the same boat if you look at it. The charts are a touch of a farce, whatever way you look at it, & I've said it for years. Some people are easily pleased, others not.

I think they should be including all dvd releases (maybe expand the overall chart to reflect the change?), though I realise you can only post what you get. It seems they are excluding the only releases I would consider buying, as there's nothing in the 'sanitised' chart I'd be interested in. Things like Shrek and Toy Story 3 have plenty of adult aimed jokes too and in the case of Toy Story 3 would be attracting older people who watched the original as kids and want to keep up with the latest instalment.

Also the age range buying singles is clearly gonna be wider in this downloading cherry-picking age surely? I download them at nearly 28 and my mate does whose 34, I can't imagine my mate would be going into HMV every week (and I certainly wouldn't have then time anymore) if downloading in your own home at your own convenience wasn't possible. I reckon if Cliff had a download single then all the silver surfers might even be persuaded to try downloading too. And don't tell me it's 12 year-olds that are downloading Subo album tracks or Michael Buble either, lol!

If you go through the top 50 though, there are not that many songs that would be purchased by the 30-50 age group. Which is supposed to be the Radio 2 listener, but apparently isn't. I'm told I should be listening to Independant Radio. Some mistake surely! I come to the conclusion that there isn't a Station for me. Both Melody Radio & Prime Time Radio were sold off. The only option at the moment is Smooth Radio & it is pretty naff, with the same songs going round & round. Then some nonchalant called Dave Lincoln trying to tell me that Elvis Presley's biggest hit was "Can't Help Falling In Love". Surely it was "It's Now Or Never"?

 

What have we got in that might have been bought by that age range of 30-50?

I think it might be a clever idea if the powers that be, did an Oldies Top 40 each week. Which would be quite fun, for those that download old songs, rather than the latest ones.

Yeah I like that Oldies Top 40 idea, I posted that somewhere else myself. Mostly it would be influenced by X Factor performances mind you. And not that I'm generalising but gay men often refer to themselves/each other as she/her anyway (at least on TV shows lol).
