Because Rihanna held on to the No.1 Singles Position, I've created these 2 Lists:,

FEMALE ‘SOLO’ ARTISTS - MOST WEEKS AT No.1 IN THE UK SINGLES CHART

1) MADONNA - 29 (4 Weeks with Justin Timberlake)

2) OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN - 18 (16 Wks, with John Travolta, & 2 Wks with E.L.O.)

3)=WHITNEY HOUSTON - 16

3)=KYLIE MINOGUE - 16 (3 Weeks with Jason Donovan)

5)=DORIS DAY - 15

5)=RIHANNA - 15 (10 Weeks with Jay-Z, & 1 Week with Jay-Z & Kanye West)

7)=CHER - 13 (1 Week with Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry, & Eric Clapton)

7)=LEONA LEWIS - 13

9) CONNIE FRANCIS - 12

10)=BEYONCE - 10 (1 Wk with Jay-Z, 3 Wks with Shakira, & 2 Wks with Lady Gaga)

10)=LADY GAGA - 10 (3 Weeks with Colby O’Donis, & 2 Weeks with Beyonce)

NOTE

Olivia Newton-John, Cher, & Leona Lewis, have had 3 No.1 Singles

Doris Day, & Connie Francis, have had 2 No.1 Singles

Cher also had 2 No.1 Weeks with 'I Got You Babe', in 1965.

However, her Sonny & Cher Hits are not usually added to her

Cher Hits - so that's why she has 13 No.1 Weeks, & not 15.

FEMALE ‘SOLO’ ARTISTS - MOST No.1’s IN THE UK SINGLES CHART

1) MADONNA - 13 (1 with Justin Timberlake)

2) KYLIE MINOGUE - 7 (1 with Jason Donovan

3)=BRITNEY SPEARS - 5

3)=BEYONCE - 5 (1 with Jay-Z, 1 with Shakira, 1 with Lady Gaga)

5)=WHITNEY HOUSTON - 4

5)=CHRISTINA AGUILERA - 4 (1 with Lil’ Kim, Mya, & Pink, 1 with Redman)

5)=GERI HALLIWELL - 4

5)=LADY GAGA - 4 (1 with Colby O’Donis, 1 with Beyonce)

5)=RIHANNA - 4 (1 with Jaz-Z, 1 with Jay-Z & Kanye West)

NOTE

Cher would have 4 No.1's too, if we include 'I Got You Babe' (1965)

Christina Aguilera has spent 7 Weeks at No.1

Britney Spears has spent 6 Weeks at No.1

Geri Halliwell has spent 5 Weeks at No.1

Thanks for that. As various other collaborations are included, I would add Sonny and Cher's weeks to Cher solo. After all, she is a named artist on the record. But that could open up last week's discussion all over again

Suedehead2 - I too would count 'I Got You Babe' as a Cher No.1. However, I try to match

my Data with that in UK Chart Books, & none of them add Sonny & Cher's Hit Singles, &

Albums, to Cher's Hits.
